MARRIED BY DESTINY

Prologue

It was raining. She loved rains but it seemed today the sky was crying. She tried to hide her anguish and pain but couldn't. She broke down and cried like a child. She doesn't want to lose her babuji. She prayed to Devi maiyya.
Today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Today was her marriage, but it didn't happen. Shyam ji had cheated them. Fate had cheated them. Shyam ji was already married and was going to marry khushi. She clearly remembered today's morning.
She was seated along with Shyam ji in mandap. Everyone was smiling. Khushi was happy for her family was happy. Even the people who had taunted and blamed them at Payal jiji's broken marriage had accepted them back. Her amma and babuji had selected a groom for her. And she trusted them blindly. Amma and babuji had done so much for her. Adopted her, gave her a home, a family to call her own and a sister
like Payal jiji.
The pandit ji was chanting the sacred mantras. She sneaked a peek at Shyam ji, her amma has asked her to trust Shyamji like she trusted her amma and babuji. And at that moment she trusted him.But he broke her trust.
"There Shyam is. The bas***d." A man shouted and everyone stood still.
The mantras stopped and the house was filled with police. She couldn't understand anything. Shyam ji was pulled from the mandap and a man in business suit punched him hard. The man continued beating Shyamji ji until the police pulled them apart.
Amma and buaji, took her to her room. She had questions but no one had answers. She sat in her room all afternoon and evening with payal jiji.
No sound came from outside.Until she heard her amma's scream. She ran outside. Her babuji was lying on floor clutching his chest. Buaji was wailing.
Their neighbors were looking helpless. And the man in business suit along with
a police officer was trying to lift babuji. But babuji was resisting.She was in tears seeing babuji in this
condition.
"Marry my Khushi." He asked the man in business suit. The man looked stoned but nodded anyway. Babuji closed his eyes. They took him to hospital.
Khushi don't know how but she was sitting in front ICU. Her amma, buaji and payal jiji were all crying. the man in business suit waiting with them, looking furious and texting on phone.
"Khushi,thoda pani peelo." Payal jiji's spoke and khushi came to present. She refused. They waited there until it was night. Amma crying ordered buaji to take Khushi and Payal home.That night for the first time Khushi couldn't sleep. For Destiny had played its cards.

Married By Destiny
Chapter 1:
The bleak silence of the Gupta house was broken by the shrill of telephone. It was four in the morning. Buaji had picked the receiver as Khushi and Payal watched her in grave anticipation. Buaji's was taking deep breaths and only her gasp was heard, "Shashi babua."
Buaji started crying. It didn't took long to realise Khushi and Payal what has happened. Their eyes become moist and Gupta house succumbed to grief. Gupta family will be the new name of misfortunes to the Lucknow. Nothing will be same. Nothing will be normal again, for Shashi Gupta had lost his battle of life.
Khushi remembered clearly the day she was brought to Gupta house. She had lost her parents at eight. She saw a man with her maasi.
"Aap kaun hai?"
"Hum aapke babuji hai, bitiya."
That day she got her second parents. They were the happiest days of her life.

It was a month after Shashi Gupta's demise. Everyone in the family was still in sorrow. Occasional guests came visiting to share their grief but the real reason was to rub salt on Gupta family's wounds. The Gupta sisters were their new target. The world had become their bitter enemy. People stared whenever they left the house, gossiped behind their backs. Their sweet shop was barely running, it had also suffered from Shashi Gupta's demise.
One day, Khushi was visiting the Devi maiyya's temple. The temple priest was an elderly man, who had just returned from his village after a month looked happy to see Khushi.
"Khushi bitiya, how was your marriage?" He asked happily unaware of her misfortune. Khushi was like his own daughter.
Khushi didn't know what to answer. She had her mouth opened to confess when Vimala aunty spoke on her behalf, "Arre wo kya bataygi. Kabhi sunna hai chor ko jurm kaboolte hue."
"Behen ji. Mein kuch samjha nhi." The priest answered back. He was worried now.
"Pandit ji, aap bahot bhole h. Aapko pata nhi aaj kal Ki ladkiya kya-kya gul khilaati hai. Tabhi to divorce se shaadi pakki hui thi. Aur jab asliyat saamne aai-..."
Khushi couldn't stand there anymore. How could Vimla aunty blame her? Most importantly how could they say such vile things about them. Had they no heart? Tears were streaming down her face when she reached home. She went straight to buaji and hugged her.
"Arre o sankadevi. Kaa Hua? Mil li apni dost se, phir kahe ro rhi ho?" Buaji asked trying to console her.
Khushi stayed silent for minutes before bursting out and telling buaji the whole story.
"Abhi bataate hai, uss vimla ko." Buaji's face was turned red. "Hamari titaliya ke baare mein itna bura bola. Chodenge nhi aaj uss ko, Nandkishore." She disengaged herself from Khushi and was just going towards the door.
"Jiji aap aisa kuch nhi karengi." Garima's voice stopped buaji.
"Kaahe nhi kare? Uss-" Garima cut her off.
"Unhone Jo kaha wo sahi kaha." Garima said in finality. "Aap kis-kis ka muhh band karogi?"
"Amma." Khushi whispered while Payal watched her stupidified.
"Ee ka bolat ho? Dimaag to thiiki h tumhara?" Buaji asked angrily.
"Jiji, hamra dimaag thik h. Aapko yaad hai, inka aakhiri din? Khushi kaa shaadi wala din." Garima asked with moist eyes.
Everyone nodded bitterly. After all who could in their life ever forget the marriage, the arrival of police and arresting of Shyam, the cheater. How Shyam played with them and was already married with six girls and Khushi was seventh.
"Oo ka iss se ka matlab hai Garima." Buaji broke the silence. She didn't wanted her nieces to know the truth and live in shame.
"Matlab hai. Hum aur darr me jee nhi sakte Ki hamari betiya aur sahe. Iss liye humne Khushi Ki shaadi ka faisala liya hai. Ye unn Ki aakhiri iccha thi. Aur issi me hamari bhalai h-"
"Garima sochh ke bolo." Buaji interrupted her.
But Garima didn't say anything but just handed a couple of newspaper to khushi and Payal.

The headlines read along with a Shyam's photo and a blurred photo of Khushi. Khushi and Payal read the article. Shyam has confessed his love for Khushi in court along with how Khushi too was in love with him. One newspaper to make it more spicy wrote khushi's as Shyam's lover.
Khushi couldn't read more as her eyes blurred."Why amma? What crime had I done?" Her question was innocent but the answer was not.
"Bitiya tumne kuch nhi kiya. Par ye duniya bahot buri hai." Garima took Khushi in her arms and wipped her tears. "issi baat ka tumhate babuji ko chintaa tha. Tum unki laadli thi naa isliye."
Buaji and Payal silently watched mother-daughter. They didn't want to interrupt them.
Garima continued, "Uss din Jo aadmi angrezi kapdo me tha wo Arnavji hai, unhone ne tumhe batchaya. Unki behen Ki bhi shaadi hone wali thi shyam se par jhoot saamne aagaya. Issi liye Shyam lucknow aagaya. Par unhone shyaam ko dhoondha.
Tumhare babuji, Arnavji ke bahot shukraguzar the. Izzat karne lage the wo Arnavji ki. Wo khushi tumhare liye Arnavji jaise pati chahte the."
Khushi looked in her amma's eye. "Iss liye unhone Arnav ji se tumhari shaadi Ki baat Ki.
Aur aaj humme Arnavji ka call aaya tha. Humne unse tumse shaadi karne ko kaha aur wo maan gye. Kal tumhaari shaadi hai. Tum apne babuji Ki aakhiri iccha Puri karogi naa?"
This words broke khushi's heart again. Again no one asked what she wanted? Previously she was to marry Shyamji. Now Arnavji. Decisions were always made for her. She never had choice.
She looked at amma, buaji and Payal jiji, they looked at her with expectations. She couldn't refuse her family. She would sacrifice herself for her family's Khushi.
"Hum taiyyar hai."

very nice story... I am glad that Arnav pursued Shyam, else Shyam wouldve ruined Khushi's life.

So Shyam loves Khushi, then m glad that Garima decided to get Khushi married to Arnav, and even Khushi agreed, though this decision also wasnt hers, but hopefully it will protect her in the long run.

Where is chap 2...update soon ,...interesting
