Had there been a more beguiling memory of his life he would have not been mesmerized with the delineated beauty flapping inside her carcass so flawlessly summoned by the sorceress herself. It was as though he had underwent a paralytic attack except for his heart which drummed in rage under his trembling skin. Heart is a deceptive organ it induces us into rapid actions even when it immobilize every bone of our body.

She was squatting midst the rings of hundreds of glistening diyas. The light from them reflected on her face emblazoning it. The light of her being and the light of the surrounding overlapping and pronouncing the ever so soft contours of her face. Could something be more magical and enthralling? He need not know as he had the answer. Knowing she was aware of his drunk yet scrutinizing gaze she looked up at him, the extinguished matchstick emitting wisps of smoke.

It was finally Diwali for him, a diwali in which she had brought full of life, magic and light within her. There was every fragment of dazzling luminescence roosted on his heart crooning the song of imperishable love and of an ethereal beauty of wonderland. All his insecurities and fears were rattled away with the tinkling of his payals as she consciously stood up adjusting the pallu of her blood red saari. The bindi on his forehead twinkled as if winking at him, luring him under the charm he was already treading in. Her jhumkis swinging with her ears embellishing her daintiness.
His gaze adamantly repulsed to leave her face which was blotched with discernible traces of blush. He effected her, he thought with a raced breathing. A kaleidoscope of elated butterflies sprang to life in him, marking the homecoming of spring. He measurably made his way towards where she stood shifting from one foot to another. Her flick teasingly caressed her face with each torrent of diwali breeze. It felt so invigorating and refreshing as it resurrected his perished heart with a sudden pumping of inebriated blood. When he crossed the last circle of the aligned diyas, he heard her ragged breathing which to his ears lullaby a sequence of love.
Did she really love her? Did he love her? He, in those moments, failed to understand the genuineness of his feelings. He drank her with a budding feeling. A phase between love and infatuation. His mind a torrential attestation to his discombobulation.
He knew he was palpable darkness attracted to the fire but he also knew he was not going to destroy himself. He wanted the darkness within him to be filled in with light. He knew he would absolute their journey.

As he took a step towards her she reflexively fell back a step, completing the equation they had always practiced. But today of all days he did not want that. He wanted her to take a step towards him like he was taking towards her, inscribing an embryonic chronicles of their relation. She gulped in a cloud of nervousness, her eyelashes continuously flapping. When she moistened her lips he felt a raw energy coarse within him. Now spirited, he cupped her delicate face. her skin under his hands felt like satin silk. Soft and welcoming. He had never felt more fascinated before as his heart continued to work with its own desire shutting out his mind. She slid her face more into his palms with closed eyes. When he inched closer with each tick of the secondhand towards her, earnest in accomplishing the mission of his heart she opened her eyes. In her eyes he read what he wanted to, an energy similar to the one he felt. A longing which was tearing at his heart and a desire to let what was happening happen. Regardless to every good and bad, regardless to every boundary they shared, regardless to what they were and regardless to what their desire for each other could do to their lives.

Today no boundary existed, today they were not the Laad governer and choti aukat wali as they had always been to each other. Today, as his lips descended to capture hers, they were Arnav and Khushi to each other. A beautiful chapter in the books of love. With the feel of his lips his insides somersaulted and there with her being embraced in his arms he understood what he felt for her. It wasn't lust but something so beautiful yet destructive called love. Pure love untainted with every infatuation and libido. If even not for the beauty, he had already fell long long for the goodness of her heart.

Diwali bought with it a serendipity he would always cherish
The light from the diyas flooded their melting hearts as the stars and the moon in the sky suddenly glowed brighter. The fireworks busted and melted on the face of the sky. Diwali bought with it a serendipity he would always cherish
