Hi Everyone...

I have never been a part of this forum and have only been able to catch an occasional or two episodes in the 1.5 yrs when IPKKND was being aired (god knows how much I regret that). And knowingly I have never watched any soap in fear of getting addicted cos my work pressure didnt allow me that luxury.
However this year I am on sabbatical and was just surfing through youtube when suddenly I came across an article which stated the most controversial exits from soaps in Indian TV and barun Sobti topped the list with the whole fiasco being mentioned and I was at my wit's end as to how can it happen that a male lead's exit has resulted in the show being shut down.
hence began my journey of unraveling ARSHI.
I searched Youtube frantically for episodes but nowhere did i get the entire season. I went through all love scenes in 2 Days straight and by the time I ended it I was cursing SP for blocking some videos.I forgot everything and just kept on asking people where do I get the season (mind you I still didnt come across India forums then)...finally my best friend who's a guy helped me in downloading the entire season through torrent seeing my misery and he's the one who told me about India forums.
The two weeks there after I have watched each episode and read the analysis and all topics related to the episode on India forums...it was like I was reliving those 1.5 yrs with you all.
I started watching it when I was at an all time low in my career and believe me when I say it rejuvenated my zest for life...I not only fell in love with ARSHI but with each and every character be it as insignificant as Khushi's friend Preeto or her business partner Shukla Ji and ofcourse the omnipresent Aman.
And to top it all, after SRK, Barun Sobti is the only other Indian actor for whom I've gone crazy...I even saw his movie MAMR the first day of its release.
But when i sit to watch TV I cannot watch any other soap as interestingly as I watch even the repeatedly watched ARSHI scenes!

Let me tell you I am not a romantic...but passionate...yes. I might not be able to express my desires and longings and love for the person but I can bloody well give my life for that person.Being an avid reader I have had my share of MB romances and Judith McNaught novels but trust me when i say nothing prepared me for the enigma that is Arnav Singh Raizada. I dont know whether I fell in love with ASR because of barun orthe other way round but I think somewhere the line just fades. All my life from middle school everyone around me knew I was crazy (though some say its an understatement) about Shahrukh Khan and I never thought in my life I will be able to make my self love and worship someone else but IPKKND changed that too...its as if I have gone to school again but this time my teenage hormones are triggered by both SRK and barun/ASR!

Now coming to the first episode...am not sure how many of you have read the bengali poem "Banalata Sen" by Jibananda Das...the first episode of IPKKND or probably the entire love story reminds me of the poem. Banalata Sen of Natore, a tiny town in the Rajshahi area of what was then Bengal, has become an emblem of feminine mystery as well as beauty and love just like our Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada has become an emblem of unconditional love and beauty for the Indian TV.
In the first stanza the traveller describes seeing her after having wandered upon the earth over thousands of years. The narrator says that it has been a thousand years since he started trekking the earth. He describes it as a long journey in night's darkness from the Ceylonese waters to the Malayan seas. From this geographical expanse he goes on to the extent of time, saying that, in the course of his wanderings he has traversed the fading world of Bimbisara and Ashoka. He adds that he went further, to the forgotten city of Vidharbha. Finally he speaks of himself as now being a weary soul although the ocean of life around continues to foam and adds that in the meanwhile he had a few soothing moments with Natore's Banalata Sen. -------Reminds me of a man called Arnav Singh Raizada, a man who has travelled for fourteen years through the darkness of his parents death and treachory of his family; from the geographical expanse of Lucknow to Delhi to Boston (Harvard) and back to Delhi.Just when he or anyone around him never thought that he can go back to what he was, when even he himself refused to admit that deep down probably even he was weary of this constant facade of anger and indifference which was covering his pain and sorrow, he found his soothing moments with the weird yet mysterious woman Khushi Kumari Gupta.

To me the first episode was like an errupted volcano because of seismic shift...the shift? The middle class girl of Gomti Sadan travels to Sheesh Mahal, the palace of the riches...the clash of the ideals and beliefs of Khushi and the money of Arnav Singh Raizada.

Yes I have not been a part of the forum during the show's original run, yes i have not shared the passion and immense heartbreak when the show was shutting down, yes I have not even shared the Blast From The Past thread but damn me if I cant be a part of this joy of reliving each episode again.

I know probably I have written too long and I might not get response to this as well since am new but main aap sabko apna banake rahunga "humesha humesha ke liye!" ❤️

the last days of ipk... ha ha like other memorable last days. love what you say about that line fading... asr or barun... doesn't mater, koi faraq nahin padta.

i never was a serial watcher and certainly after ipk i watch nothing. the depth of acting here, the stunning creation of character, the invitation to just get lost in it all and then start to feel things in you hadn't in years...

The poem starts with...Hajaar bochhor dhore ami poth hatitechhi prithibir pothe...

And the line you mentioned is my favourite...
chool tar kobekar ondhokaar bidishar nisha...mukh tar srabostir karukarjo...

Since you already know this...am sure you are a bengali...tai bolchhi amio bangali 😊
My name is Avanti...and I think this show connects to a lot of bangaliyana as well...probably thats when you call a show global...when everyone irrespective of language and culture connects with the same passion.

As in Tagore's Shesher Kobita...I think the dialogue which Amit says To Labanya "For god's sake hold your tongue and let me love" is so apt for Arnav and Khushi ❤️

And since am on sabbatical I will join you guys whenever I can...in fact I keep reading old posts... visit IF everyday and go through posts.

lastly, thanks for your warm welcome!

And if we gaur se dekhen at those guys in those asr's board meetings.. without getting too distracted by that stern, angry, smashing guy...😆 Some times they were AR employees and some times as outsiders..

Indu, that find is credited to Indi. She had expressed her doubt about the actor in her review of the date episode. I just supported her with a proof.

Yes, SI's BD was everywhere. Most of the time we could spot her in the crowd wearing similar colour clothes as that of Khushi. There were the same bunch of people in the background always mingling and merging into the crowd. Sometimes, you would see the same person walking to & fro again and again, until the scene got over (This happens almost anywhere, be it movies or tv shows) 😆.

I had posted these links on #29, in my reply to Indi. These are AD(Ragha)'s posts which she had made on Mohan.

hi avanti,

thanks for the corrections, 😆 i knew it was all over the place... a memory ringing and echoing.

yes, i am bangali and not at all well read... but bonolota sen and tagore and things as you know, part of our world, there somewhere always.

i have tried to read the many translations of bonolota sen as my bangla is not that strong, the traveller and his weariness... parched and she, like a drop of life giving water her dense perfect beauty... always touches. and the sensuousness of the very sound of each word, even when i don't understand, i feel their voluptuousness...

ipk is beautiful at many levels and its hold on me is mysterious really...it takes me to places i never thought i would visit.

i was thinking this afternoon, it's like a medium in itself.

look forward to seeing you.

Gaur se dekhe ka padi, and more will turn up😆

Kizh, went to look for barfee kaki, but looks like the only thing matching is the wig. Though on its way from Lucknow to Delhi, it got a little colour. 😆

Indi, thanks for the explanation for the effects used in your edit. So, it was the epi 1 sunset, I did think so. I had liked the moment you had taken the cap with ASR and the sunset merging, which you had posted earlier.

Angellic_Doll, welcome to blast. Glad to see you here. 😊
