@Redwine1 and @Ipoona you both are amazing in your analysis and write up. I actually check the site several times to see your posts. I never watched the show from the beginning, but started watching somewhere around September. 👏👏👏 I must commend both of you and all the others on their writing skills and picking up all the emotions etc.⭐️

Welcome to yet another edition of Reflections, She stood bathed in light & he stood enraptured by the sight ... the passions bubbled to the surface but were rudely stifled ... was it any wonder when she stood yet again in front of him ... this time bathed by the skies.. the passions like the sky would overflow & cover from head to toe ...

Cause doesnt it rain .. only when the clouds are over full ... when it cant be contained anymore .. 😳

Did anyone of u stop & wonder .. why a HUG .. why did he not simply pull her aside .. wasnt (according to this forum) Arnav always manhandling Khushi .. so why did he hold her protectively in his arms .. & not just pull her away from the path of the car ????

The answer to that ...as i have written in the past ... it was always about

TO HAVE & TO HOLD ... TO PROTECT & TO NURTURE ...

& to this day forth ... he did that ... he embraced her on this rainy day .. his arms fell away after a bit ... but the protective shield stayed intact .. hence in the next episode the maker showed u the poolside slip & hold ... followed by the soon to come guest house incident ...

He would always knowingly or unknowingly protect KHUSHI ... thats what the GOD's had destined ... Thats what DM was trying to tell KHUSHI ...

Ok Ok .. grab ur remotes ... lets forward to Khushi DM confrontation scene .. on the second day of her marriage .. she is completely flummoxed how her 'friend' could ever subject her to this fate ... she refuses to be friends anymore .. & the next day ... DM tries once again to unsuccessfully show her .. i did what was right for u .. I GAVE U UR OWN KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR ... she sends Arnav to the temple to find KHUSHI ...

IF KHushi but would've understood the signs DM gave her .. her life would have traversed a different path ...

Lets figure out the DM signs here ...

Khushi always spoke so highly of Akash Sir .. or Jijju ... a very stable, nice, sweet & steady guy ... who stood right next to his brother under the shade of the umbrella & let KHUSHI get wet in the rain ..

What was Arnav's diktat ... she needs to administer traffic in the parking lot ... there was no mention of getting wet ... so why did Akash not offer Khushi his umbrella ... why did Akash not offer Khushi his jacket ... because ... Akash was not the KNIGHT in SHINING Armor ... IT Was ARNAV ... the man who passionately gazed upon the vision ... but the possessive protective streak makes him step forward to offer her his PROTECTION ...

ok i am digressing for a bit ... i used to write on another thread on this forum before i started DC ... a very prominent leader of that thread once wrote ... That AKASH will bring back SHYAM to SHANTIVAN ... i first laughed my head off ... then actually argued ... cause ... the last person who could be selected to bring Shyam back would be Akash ... the reflection of that is shown in this episode ... A righteous man .. who could'nt step forth to stop the humiliation of a young girl ... would he have the gumption to STAND TALL in front of his brother .. .

Someone on DC said it was the start of the LOOK BACK ... someone called this expression as a victory of Arnav ...

well as usual i have a different slant to things ...

The "look back" was another iconic IPK moment ... it was something that was always shown by both the leads ... whether in times of argument or in times of softer moments ...

It was there on the day Arnav hugs La & Khushi realises the jolt that that hug caused her heart .. its there when Khushi goes away from Arnav .. its there when she comes to the temple on teej & on leaving turns around to give him a last look ...

Whatsmore ... the LOOK BACK from one ... is always characterised by the other not LOOKING ... did u ever wonder why ... ( u can see the upcoming TEEJ episode .. its beautifully captured in that one) ...

The look back was simply ... " aapko kyon FARAK PADTA HAI ??"

The red saree episode is the first time passion bubbled to the surface ... Arnav's passion was right on his face & his eyes blazed with possessive fire ... which was clearly there for Khushi to see ...

Arnav's Look back .. is always to see if what he has done .. what he has said ... finds a resonance in KHUSHI ... cause he wants FARAK PADTA HAI ...

he wants his anger ... his insults ... his passion .. his feelings to AFFECT her ... he wants those FEELINGS REFLECTED BACK ... he wants the REACTION BACK ... its tantamount to saying I LOVE YOU to someone ... & then waiting for the I LOVE YOU to be said back ...

The look back was one of the most important shots of IPK .. it defined the courtship of Arnav & Khushi .. be it when he shouts at her when he thinks she broke his laptop .. be it when he tells her to go away after the diwali almost kiss ...

Now for the reaction of the look back .. the other party always looks away ... till they have the courage to face their emotions ... cause hurt .. the anger ... the passion did resonate ... but ... they were not ready to let it come to the surface ... the words .. the passions did affect ... but to show that would be to succumb to this passion ...

The best scene to understand what the look back meant ... was when Arnav shouts at LA for dressing like KHUSHI .. & then finally comes to say SOrry to her after Khushi reprimands him ... HE LOOKS DEEP INTO KHUSHI's eyes .. even while HUGGING La .. & says I AM SORRY ... she sees the look & immediately looks away ... because to accept the sorry .. was to accept him .. was to accept that ARNAV KO FARAK PADTA HAI ... & his sorry meant something to her ...

FARAK PADTA HAI ...

Yesterdays DC is i asked a simple question ... when was the first FARAK PADTA HAI "spoken" between the leads ... well here goes ...

La has left Shantivan .. & Khushi thinks its cause of her ... Crusader Kumari Gupta goes to Arnav's office to have it out with him ... Arnav who is battling with the feelings this small chit of a girl raises in him .. is irritated that KHUSHI wants to bring LA back .. KHUSHI then asks him the all important question ... DID U EVER LOVE LA ... KYA AAPKO FARAK NAHI PADTA HAI .. that she is going away?

This was the first FARAK PADTA HAI ... now for the answer ... THIS IS THE ONE & ONLY TIME ARNAV SAID ... HAAN MUJHE FARAK NAHI PADTA HAI ... yes it did not matter to him ... cause he was IN LOVE ... albeit with the one who was supposed to TIE HIM TO ANOTHER WOMAN ...

The dichotomy .. the irony that was IPK ... a truly mind-blowing moment ... would recommend you guys rush to Youtube & watch this ...

But these were only the spoken words ... each & every lookback in IPK was nothing but Farak Padta hai ... the 3 words which underlined a unique courtship on TV ...

OK enuf about the passions ...

Now lets look at the dichotomy .. someone on DC wrote .. it was ironic how SHyam offers KHUSHI the umbrella .. i was so happy someone mentioned that ... cause everytime SHyam is shown to help KHUSHI ... the real saviour turns out to be ARNAV ... its the beauty of scriptwriting in IPK ..

ok ok .. lets see this ...

Shyam brings KHUSHI the job ... a job she desperately needs to save her family from abject penury ... but due to a well placed challenge Arnav gives the job to KHUSHI ...

OK OK how was that saving KHUSHI ... well HOW LONG DID U THINK KHUSHI WUD LAST UNDER LAVANYA KASHYAP .. whose only reason for hiring KHUSHI was that she did not want ARNAV's attention to SLIP from HER .. what would happen When she would see these 2 together ... battling it out .. what would happen did happen .. LA WENT AWAY ...

So inadvertently Arnav turned out to be the saviour ...

Now lets look at this incident ... Shyam offers her the umbrella .. then offers to sit with her the night away ... & promptly the next day .. Arnav Saves her ... from falling into the pool .. from the guest house debacle ... DM was always clear ... on the GOOD & THE EVIL ... 😃

Hence Shyam was the BIGGEST CUPID of TELLY LAND ... the man handed his obsession on a platter to another 😉

So the rain hug is over ... the gazelle has gone home .. she is so glad for the ride back that Akash gave her .. not once questioning why dint u offer me a simple umbrella when i needed one ... her worry centred on her sister ... totally unknown about the tumult she has caused ...

& DM who by now is sick of the fact that these 2 dont get it .. decides to play cupid with a slightly more easier target .. AKASH & PAYAL ..

Arnav plagued by the thots of the girl .. & his reactions to her .. he is plagued by the FACT THAT HE REACTS .. he is plagued by the fact that usse FARAK PADTA HAI .. he is plagued by the fact that he is ATTRACTED ...

he stands in the middle of the road .. clearly shaken by the feelings she evoked in him ... FEELINGS ... Feelings for Arnav were the BIGGEST HANDICAP .. he FELT .. & HE FELT STRONGLY ...

Lets look at this BIG MOMENT in IPK .. the middle of the road drive ... it helps ARNAV find his path in life ... did u ever think why Arnav drove in the night in the middle of the road .. stopped his car & asked for the answers ???

Arnav Singh Raizada ... was a child who was abandoned .. the feelings of abandonment are the strongest in HIM .. he felt abandoned by his parents .. he was abandoned by the MALLIKS ... it was the abandonment which made him STAND UP & take control of his life ... the abandonment .. which made The CHild Arnav Mallik into the MAN .. ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA ...

hence he drives to the middle of an ABANDONED ROAD ... & asks for answers ... its then that he is able to reconcile what he needs to do .. THE TOUGHEST CROSS ROADS of his LIFE ... & he asks for the questions right on those abandoned ROADS ...

The first drive ... HE FELT today .. not only did he feel ABJECT PASSION .. he FELT THE ALMOST CLOYING need to PROTECT ... TO HAVE & TO HOLD .. from this day forward ...

The man who had killed every feeling .. every emotion in him ... save the emotion he kept reserved for his Di .. today FELT .. & that scared the HELL out of him ... he knows what he is CAPABLE OF FEELING ...& that scares him ...

SO he stands on an abandoned road ... & finds the strength to take the DIFFICULT PATH ... a PATH AWAY from his feelings ... a path away from KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA ...

Now pause here a moment ... & now think about each & every moment after this ... ARNAV WANTS KHUSHI AWAY FROM HIM ... he wants her to GO AWAY ... atleast his MIND IS SCREAMING THAT TO HIM .. hence all the adverse reactions ... whenever KHUSHI who he is pushing away comes back to him ...

Hence he immdiately calls her with another impossible task ... if he is feeling under the weather after getting wet so would she 😉 gives her a task which she would not be able to complete .. but she does complete ... finally the only way to deal with this mess ... is to send her away .. cause if she is away .. he cannot FEEL ... HIS HEART BEaT cannot pick on the beat of her heart .. so the GUEST HOUSE .. is where he banishes her ... all PRETENCE now of the BET are GONE ..

The middle of the ROAD ... he gave up ..

Each & every Middle of the road breakdown of Arnav marked a very important turn in IPK ... each time .. each turn marked a relationship which no matter whatever storm would survive everything ...

Wonderful... Wonderful analysis of not just why Farak padta hai... But also when... Really never related the turns back to Farak!!! Loved it ... He does look to see what she is feeling... How she is reacting...

You brought up one of the best scenes in IPK... His apology to Khushi as he hugs La... You are right she looks away...not letting him know that she accepts his apology... But don't you think that they both knew that Farak padta hai... She challenges him ... After her engagement... Aapkay kya Farak padta hai???... Just so that he would yell padta hai. He does the same... When he says... Meir engagement kal ho ya ek saal bada ... Tumhay Kai Farak padta hai... He knows that she loves him... Farak padta hai ... That is why he continues to goad her... He wants her to admit to him... YES I love you...mujeh Farak padta hai... Coz he knows that is the truth...

When he had earlier said...Yeh tum kya kar rahi ho... Is tantamount to saying ... Are you crazy... You know how we feel... You know what this thing is between us... Then why the hell are you throwing it away... The fact that he is almost engaged to La ... Doesn't even cross his mind... Coz he has that under control...

Absolutely Loved the abandoned road as being his place of solace... Of introspection... Just like making jalabees is for Khushi... Only later will we learn the truth about the drives...

i have always maintained that khushi had managed to thaw the heart our hero way before any of them actually acknowledged it. she questioned his infallibility again and again and forced him into situations where he had to accept what she meant to him. all these loops culminated into the grand finale 'hamesha sambhalta rahoon ga' on kc :)
