A barrage of short, shorter and shortest skirts... And our Khushi is scandalized... This is a long long way from Gomti Sadan...And if she hasn't see anything like this before... Neither have they... Gotta... Kinari... Jhumkay, Pompous... Basta, Payals, Jutis... She is sparkling like a new gold coin... Chamkili...a name coined derisively...But in all reality...even then it was an adorably apt name...Coz Khushi can't help but sparkle and twinkle!!!
One does not need to grow up in Delhi to get the snide, I'll admit, creative, remarks... Bal Bharti Aunty...Ring road ki DTC, Delhi Metro, Chabbis Janvri ki Jhanki, Griah udyog ka dafter... Our Khushi is neatly pigeon holed into a category... Iss kism kay loag...She has not the right clothes, not the right language and not the right address... The very hole that our Front Desk Sim has been making clawing attempts to escape from...Under the expert tutelage of the very "IN" Ms. Pam... Who takes all her cues from the Queen Bee La.
The very leggy, very dimpled, sultry La...The girlfriend with Model good looks, the right pedigree, a top position in AR Industries... and the attention of THE man...His equal in every way...
But it is being stereotyped like this, that Khushi is offered the position of being La's Assistant. What hope had another alpha female like Sonia of surviving in the Queens nest ??? Only awkward looking Behenji's need apply..
But if we are focused only on outward appearances ... Did La really look at Khushi...Didn't she not see the alabaster skin??? The innocent, large, round, never still doe eyes ??? The endearing nervous fidgets ... All she saw was a low class, non english speaking, colossal fashion disaster... all unforgivable crimes in La's world... She saw someone that ASR wouldn't even spare a glance towards...
Wrong choice La !!! Had you stuck with Sonia... And had a little faith in your man ... You would have known that he wouldn't spare the time of day for such an obviously transparent...social climber...
But if value judgments are made about Khushi based on her appearance, so are they made on the barrage of short skirts floating around the office... The shorter your hemline... Lower your neckline...the more questionable your values and morals and ruder your attitude... Desi clothes and you are immediately perceived as being on some right moral track... Hoped we'd have seen that addressed... But La goes Desi... The minute she turns nice.. Or goes nice the minute she turns Desi????
