EPISODE - 005 ..

THE REVEAL OF THE HERO & VILLAIN .. or was it the other way round .. huh ?? Am confused ...

The dichotomy that was IPK ... a lot of people loved IPK coz it had sizzling chemistry .. some loved it for Barun Sobti & Sanaya Irani .. some loved it for the story .. some loved Rabba Ve ... For me my love of IPK was the dichotomy of the tale ... the PRESENTATION of IPK ... & that dichotomy was laid out in Episode 005 for us ... sorry today am in the mood to quote cliches ... so here goes ..

what do they say ... FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE LAST IMPRESSIONS ...

Well IPK blew that myth apart in a jiffy ... OR DID IT ????

In episode 5 you got the introduction of the villain of IPK .. Shyam Manohar Jha .. who to us was just a knight in shining armor .. saving the damsel in distress .. a regular do gooder ...

In the same episode you got the glimpse of "chotey'' ... a man who for a moment reflects on his actions ... when his sister reminds him of it ...

But the most important part ... you see the action & implication of the devil ...

The dichotomy ... Hero does the villainous act .. while the villain does the heroic act ...

But did u notice the most important thing ... Shyam saves Khushi ... but she doesnt thank him ... there is no convo with him ... only the father thanks him & then they walk away ... this is ur first indication .. that Mr. Shyam Manohar Jha is the ahem bad guy in the plot .. normally the parents would be effusive with their thanks .. the gurl would've gushed her thanx probably tied a dupatta around a hurt .. ( which u saw ( the concern) in the dhaba episode ..when khushi Stops Arnav from fighting) ... What struck me as the most amazing thing of this episode was ... when Khushi goes to the television studio .. & comes to know that Arnav was the guy behind the footage ... (pause here) .. there is a deep hurt reflected in her eyes ...

BANG ON guys .. the CONNECT was there ... the DESTINIES Were joined ... & what DM put together ... no knight in shining armor could put asunder ...

Similarly .. when u saw the Anji & Arnav scene ... Anji tells arnav did u think before u released the footage ... & there is a sligjht pause & arnav murmurs .. yes i thot & hence released ... BUT BUT BUT ... liar liar pants on fire ... the one thing HE DID NOT DO .. was THINK .. he reacted ... & thats where the first look of GUILT was shown reflected in Arnav's eyes .. (suggest u guys watch the Arnav Anji interaction .. reveals a lot) ... Arnav knows what he has done is wrong ... but his EGO .. will not let him accept that ... AN EGO which makes its presence felt in dialog after dialog in IPK ...

Now lets think & ponder for a bit .. or rather speculate ... what do u think ... when Arnav Khushi would next meet on the streets of Delhi ... if Khushi showed sadness ... remorse .. or was downtrodden ... what would be arnav's reaction to it ... ??

Cause the KHUSHi we will c will come out all guns blazing ... which will IRK arnav's ego ... but what is mORE ... he will atleast appease his conscious thinking .. my actions did not RUIN this girl's life .. which appeases his guilt a bit .. THE DAY Arnav realises HOW MUCH HIS ACTIONS have ruined KHUSHI's life ... he falls in front of her to apologise ... Hence ... the past of KHUSHi's meant nothing to Arnav ... he could not add to her ruination anymore ... he had to purge his past & soul to marry her that night ... cause if he did not ... THAT WOULD've been the TRUE RUIN OF KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA ... & that would make Arnav Singh Raizada the VIllain of IPK ...

Phew todays was a long one .. so i will conclude ..

Many people in IF & elsewhere on other sites .. wrote huge stories on the character called Shyam .. & his reason for being bad ... some famous theories linking SHyam to the past of Arnav & Khushi were concocted as well ... Thank fully those tales did not come true ... Thats cause ... IPK was the LOVE STORY of Arnav & Khushi ... Shyam was the villain ... a villain in a love story .. IS ONLY THE MEANS TO AN END ... thats it .. & thats exactly what we got ... Shyam Manohar Jha was a GREEDY MAN .. who fell in abject LUST on a bright sunny morning in Lucknow when he saw KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA ... his GREED ... created problems in the lives of Arnav & Khushi .. but ultimately ... LOVE WON ... which is beautifully reflected in the dialogs between Shyam & Khushi during the end of Kidnap track ... Where KHUSHI .. even before she declares her LOVE TO ARNAV ... DECLARES IT TO SHYAM ...

He can do the heroic act ... but ... LOVE ties her with ARNAV ...

PS: there is a very revealing dialog of Arnav's in the arnav anji confrontation ... where he says ... " woh bhagwan hi kya jisse maangne pade" ... made me question ... was he really an aethist ... or was he a believer who buried his belief so deep ... that he to could'nt find it ... ??

Shyam Manohar Jha aka Resident Snake in the lives of the Raizadas & Guptas were introduced and like said in the main post, his manner of entry and Khushi's reactions to Shyam despite the fact that he was coming in as her knight in shining armour gave it to us hands down that this was the bad guy.

IPKKND is a show of many firsts and the entry of ASR and Shyam was an example of that, in a way it was trying to give us its msg which is very much relevant in today's world.

The ppl who enter our lives on a wrong foot, as our demons may not really be the villains, infact they could end up to be the good ppl in our lives whereas the ones who come to us with sugar coated words and like a perfect gentleman can indeed be the ones to wreck havoc in our lives.

Am sure most of us have had such an experience.

Khushi despite all the hate that ASR has given her, she never fails to notice the pain in his eyes, and its seeing ASR through her eyes that helps the audience to be convinced of the fact that this is a guy who shouldnt be hated despite all his flaws.

Again ... even since IPKKND's inception...one thing the CVs have done to perfection is consolidating the fact that Anjali's character will have a huge impact on Arshi's lives and we know that all the turmoil started in their lives because of Arnav's need to protect his sister.

ASR introduced as the beast who later on turns Prince Charming.

Shyam introduced as the knight and goes onto to become one of the most hated Villains in TV.

Another thing , Shyam's character is that one rare villain's story which has been equally well written as much as the other lead characters and Abhaas Mehta was a damn good choice to play the role.

He made us hate Shyam with every cell in our body and at the same time , made sure that we dont forget that Abhaaas and Shyam are 2 different characters.

Shyam's character is a message to the real world, that we should never trust sugar coated gentleman blindly as depicted in many shows coz such ppl only exist in fiction in today's world.

there is no such man in today's society who fits the bill of the perfect gentleman, its a fact that there are flawed men who live good lives but prince charming exists only in stories.

many say that ASR is a character only seen in fiction, i would disagree coz there are a lot of men out there who are as flawed as ASR, yet they have heart that you would want to die for.

remove the glamour quotient , that is ASR of AR designs and u will find Arnav, the flawed human being who is very much a real person of today's world.

Redwine, what an amazing in-depth analysis!!! Loved all... But especially the parts in bold...Hard to change first impressions... I am sure you know that Pride and Prejudice was first tilted " First Impressions" Time and time we are told that First impressions are lasting, but often erroneous or at best, incomplete... Couldn't be more accurate for IPK...And ASR... As for Shayam... Even though introduced in a heroic act... You still got a sense of something a bit out of place... ( Other than the big fat hint ... ASR introduces his Di at the fashion show as Anjali Jha!) ... His smiles are too pasted... Never reaching his eyes...

And ASR, despite his villainous introduction, came across as a man who believes what he believes ... Right or wrong ... Is another matter...

You and I seem to have different takes on what he was thinking... When he mumbles.." Sooch kar hi toy Kia tha..." Made me wonder... The romantic in me wants to think ... He was thinking about the Dori ...but you are right.. He does not think before he release the tapes... He just reacts to her defiance...

Love that there are so many facets to each scene...
