She hadn't moved an inch. He tried talking to her but nothing was working. He went to the poolside not in anger but because he was helpless. Khushi got up and walked to the cupboard. Arnav turned around when he heard the cupboard door slide. He walked closer to see what she was doing. Khushi rummaged through the cupboard and found what she was looking for. Arnav gasped as he knew exactly what she was taking out.
She walked to the bed and sat down. She took a deep breath and passed her hand along the words of the book titled, "Our Baby Book." Arnav had bought that book for her when she told him she was pregnant. She had recorded everything in the book; their first ultrasound to their first kick. She turned each page after studying its contents. She looked at every ultrasound picture with a faintish smile every now and then. The page Arnav was anticipating since she had opened the book had come, " Our Baby's First Day." Arnav closed his eyes remembering the events of that day.
Flashback starts
Arnav : What do you mean?? (Arnav yelled at the doctor, holding him up against a wall)
Doctor: We did everything we could have. Im sorry!
Arnav : You're sorry?? I'll show you sorry!! (Arnav was about to punch the doctor)
Nani: CHOTTE bas!!!
Arnav : (He released his clenched fists) Nani. My baby, our baby, Khussh...
Nani: She hugged her grandson) Shh, Chotte, go inside by Khushi betiya, she needs you.
Arnav: (nodded his head,wiped his tears and made his way inside)
Flashback ends
He opened his eyes to see Khushi missing from the bed and the baby book on the bed. He was about to go inside the room, when she returned to the bed this time holding a box. She opened it and took out a picture. She kissed the picture and stuck it into the baby book.
Arnav took a deep breath and walked inside the room. He sat next to her on the bed, she shifted slightly but her eyes were glued to the picture she had just put into the book. It was a picture of their baby. Arnav melted; he remembered when the picture was taken.
Flashback starts
Arnav sat on the bed hugging Khushi. Tears were streaming down both their cheeks.
Khushi: Arnav, I (Arnav looked at her) I wanna remember her, take a picture
Arnav : Khushi, but.
Khushi: Please.
Arnav: Okay, fine
As the days passed, Arnav would get mad every time he saw the picture; it reminded him of the pain of losing his baby. So he told Khushi that he never wanted to see it again. He knew what he said hurt Khushi but he couldn't bear the pain.
Flashback ends
He looked at the photo and thought; gosh my baby's beautiful. She looked like Khushi, with slight features of Arnav. He watched Khushi; he could see how much she missed the baby. After that unfaithful day, Khushi had begged Arnav to have another baby but he outright told her no. Arnav regretted what he had told her, but he didn't want her to go through that emotional pain if something went wrong.
For the first time in what seemed like ages to Arnav, Khushi turned to him and spoke; "I killed her, I'm sorry" Before Arnav could register what Khushi had said; she got off the bed and ran into the bathroom with the baby book. Arnav was shocked to say the least. He got up and walked to the bathroom; he opened the door and saw Khushi slouched down on the floor sobbing. He sat down next to her and hugged her tightly. Arnav said, "Shh, it's not your fault." Khushi hugged him back, "But, I" Arnav then whispered to her, "It wasn't meant to be."
Khushi looked up at him and said, "I want this pain to stop." Arnav cupped her face; "I want the pain to stop too" he took a deep breathe, he knew what he had to do. Arnav then said, "Khushi lets have another baby" Khushi looked into his eyes, "You mean it?!" Arnav nodded, "I'm sure!!"
Khushi smiled through her tears and hugged him tighter and buried her head into his neck. "Thaaank yoo u, I'm soo ha app y." she said in a mumble, but it was audible enough for Arnav to hear. Arnav smiled, his wife was happy again. He kissed her forehead and said, "Im happy too, baby!"
