All dramas have romance. All dramas repeat the same situations over and over again. In fact, even IPKKND didn't have anything radically creative or new regarding the affairs of the heart.
But there is chemistry. Then there is SaRun's chemistry.
I don't know how many people are responsible for it, but what set IPKKND apart from almost EVERY romance that I've watched is the way Arnav and Khushi's eyes communicated. There were scenes where I didn't even need to pay attention to the dialogue because their eyes said it all. Hat's off to Gul for casting these two gorgeous and talented people together without knowing how explosive their chemistry will be on screen. And double hat's off to Barun and Sanaya because- whether they saw it or not- they definitely shared a connection, which made them comfortable around each other for every type of scene, and it came across supremely well on the tube.
No wonder people watch each scene more than a hundred times (in some cases for me this is very literal. *cough* Love scene 122 *cough*).
ANYWAYS, this will probably be the hardest top five I've done or will do because they seem to communicate in EVERY SCENE without needing words, and it's very hard to pick just five. But, these are the ones that came to my mind first, and what made a huge impact on me.
Note: Silent communication is not the same as eyelocks. This list isn't about where they are just staring into each others' eyes and rabba-ve-ing. This involves multiple emotions conveyed solely through actions and their eyes without talking. So something like Arnav saving Khushi from the car at his office parking lot doesn't count.
Arnav and Khushi are one of those star-crossed lovers who are constantly aware and in sync with each other. So they don't need words to understand what the other is feeling, nor can they hid their feelings well from the other. The following scenes demonstrate this.
5. Holi

(Start at 0:56 and end at 2:50. This might be the most peaceful 1 min of your life).
What a beautiful scene. Thanks to the effects of bhang, these two finally let go of their inhibitions, their reservations, and simply concentrated on their feelings for each other. Granted they both unintentionally confessed to each other moments earlier, the brilliance of this scene was the raw love evident in both their eyes.
I could feel a sense of warmth sipping into my heart when Khushi hesitantly laid her head on Arnav's chest and widened her eyes when he wraps his arm around her- almost as if it was me finally doing what I yearned to do for a long time.
This is a fiercely independent girl who never asked for comfort, but desperately needed and yearned it from him. In this scene, she finally sought and felt the security and love she craved from him. He may have hugged her or provided comfort previously, but here there was no reason for doing so- he simply did it because he loves her.
Whereas, Arnav was thrilled to know that Khushi sought love, comfort, and security from him. He refused to let her go TWICE, and they both noticed how deeply they wanted each other.
The level of comfort, peace, and 'finally settling-with-the-other-half-of-your-soul' type feeling they exhibited in this scene is off the charts.
4. Hospital Tu Hi Bata Mere Maula

(Start at 4:15)
Although there is a song involved in this scene, I think it would be still be equally powerful without it.
This scene is all about Arnav's gesture.
Khushi was completely broken, and vulnerable. Arnav- who already struggled with not being able to help her previously- slowly put his hand on her head. That one action conveyed a multitude of emotions- comfort, security, responsibility, companionship, empathy, and above all else a rock solid support system.
Khushi was clearly surprised by his unexpected move, as she looked at him to explain his intimate gesture. However, it was still too soon to delve into the realms of love for them so they slowly go their separate ways, but not without the signature turn back to look at the other when the other is not looking deal.
The following three scenes SERIOUSLY set Arshi apart from the rest. Talk about brilliant acting, directing, and editing.
3. Khushi reunites Arnav and Lavanya

Words cannot possibly do justice to this scene.
Have you ever actually seen a person realize they have fallen in love without actually realizing it? Well this is what it looks like.
Have you ever seen a person shift from being content to confused because an action meant to make their loved one happy actually made them cry? Well this is what it looks like.
Believe me, you won't find more accurate expressions anywhere else.
2. Payal scene

This is Youtube's definition of perfection. The end.*
*There are essays about this scene by writers far better than me, so I kept it short. Plus I'm sure people who read this can recall every second of this scene, so I don't need to explain why it's on this list.
1. Iss scene ko kya naam doon?

(Start at 5:00)
I can't. I just...ti09whg0c485gh-9g4utc97r86e 8ro'o9;ygiluxkryktdyf.
There.
This is approximately five minutes of some of the most brilliant acting I've ever seen.
In fact, I made this list just for this scene; it is the culmination of their emotions after everything that happened. It was the real Arnav and Khushi, finally revealing themselves to each other without any reservations or under the influence of drugs, that too without saying a single word. No misunderstandings, no selfless acts for their sisters-- this is them finally succumbing to their feelings, and reaching out to each other after a tumultuous few months.
For pete's sake, they both narrowly escaped death, he was kidnapped for a month, she worked around the clock to rescue him(even daring to reach out to that sleazy asshole), and they both revealed a truth that shattered their household. YET, they think about everyone but themselves.
Khushi- Dear lord Sanaya. How many emotions did she show? (1) Extreme relief that her husband is back safe and sound, and that he believed her; (2) grateful that he stood up for her; (3) scared as to how he'll react now that she has ruined his di's marriage life by telling the truth, (4) beyond exhausted b/c she was close to going crazy when he was not around. Look at how desperately she hugs him, how strongly she needs to feel him to make sure he is there and with her. Previously, she subconsciously reached out for him in her sleep but now she does it purposely to ensure he is with her. Only then does she surrender to her exhaustion and fall asleep.
Arnav- Don't get me started on Barun's eyes. Even at that point, all he could think about was his di. Yet when Khushi came, he hid his pain, and became her pillar. He understood everything she was going through, and the sheer agony on his face when he realized how much she suffered was fantastic.
Ismailvegazme described this scene perfectly: Silent Love.
