EPISODE 33
Confliction is a part of every game indeed and today's epi was evident of that.The confliction in between ASR and Khushi which started in Lakhnow fashion show took a new turn today.Khushi was under his wrath without guilt that day and today he was but under guilt.That day when he crossed his limit by breaking her Dori and scattered pearls,Today she accused him and misunderstood him by breaking the Dori of his Egoistic necklace his CONTRACT.That day he misjudged and suspected her through his past's shadow and pre assumed actions and today she did the same through her suffered encounters with him. That day they both were baffled and froze in the midst of that moment without knowing each other and today by knowing each other but in denial "mode".Mujhe Farak nahi Parta" (I don't care.)
That day she entered Sheesh Mahal in his den without Name without permission by mistake and caught up in an unknown game but today she entered in his den RM with Name (Her name is Khushi Kumari Gupta Hai) with His permission in this game of confliction and the resolution of which turned into an undeniable "mode"Mujhe Farak parta hai."( I care) Which turned into undeniable emotion that grew into undeniable "Love". Magnificent but loop is not closed yet------👏👏👏
Epi starts with Brother's promise as per yesterday."You are my family".He is successful for bring a Smile on his Di's face by hiding his tears as he means a "father figure" to her and she is as a "mother figure" to her but her mother is and will be at highest "pedestal"in his life no matter what and SHE is the one whose tender and wise words will give him strength to rise up again as she is the strongest Bishop among the two in this game.
My fav scene.This picture speaks volume.It displays the current situation of the game which is going to change nothing but the position of these two which in turn is going to change the meaning of their surroundings and people around them.Game is so getting interesting.😉
He gave permission to let her come in.Love the way he calls her name "Khushi" like he owns it now.She walks in with chin up,he comes down the stairs with concerns written all over till they face each other.Her nervousness and panting make her clutch her "Dupatta" to fix.(Love this scene) and her eyes fell on her "Sacred Scar" along with him.😊

Flashbacks
"Tum----- Theek ho?" (Are you ok) After fb of the incident reeling in front of them,That's what the man of few words could come up with but other side she is up to no good today . It seems his soft concerned voice increases her courage to heat up.Pause here: Doesn't everytime when he goes softer she gets the opportunity to not to miss .mmm... 😆
That day ASR was heartless King who threw the daggers into her heart with his merciless brain today Khushi is returning the favor without being selfless and forgiving at that moment as she knows she can't win this game without being one."as she told Payal, "Agar uss Rakshus nein larna hai to' hum bhi tayar hain'"(If he wants to fight she is going for it) But he was not fighting dear...and that is going to make her restless too.mmm..😆
![]()
With her striking stroke Khushi"Kia Kaha aap nein'..,Hum Theek hain.Aisa Sawal to sirf aap hi kar sakte hain'.Sirf Arnav Singh Raizada hi itna Kuch hone ke baad yeh pooch sake hain'. keh hum theek hain."(What did you say,I am ok.Oh yeah only ASR can ask this kind of question after all of this.)Pause here: Was she expecting something different outcome after all of THIS...???
He opens his mouth to explain--- but she stopped him.
"nahin!(No) aaj Hum bolenge...
toh jahan tak aapka sawal ka jawab hai... toh haan, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada, Hum abhi theek hain...aur agle kuch hi minton mein hum aur bhi theek hone waale hain... kyonki humne yeh faisla kar liya hai... ke hum yeh naukri chordenge.Yeh raha Hamara Istifa."(No.today I will speak.the answer of your question is yes I am fine and in next few min I will be better because I've decided that I'll leave this job.Here is my resignation.)He gives her a staggering painful look without blinking a muscle after her disclosure.She does not stop.She counts every given task by him through which she suffered but she put her heart and soul in it because she knew the meaning of the contract.
"khushi kumari gupta ka naam aapke keemat se zyada maine rakhta hai'."(KKG's name is more than the price you put on contract)
Pause here:I wish she knew HE stood up for Her name and his whole kingdom knows about it.Sigh
That day in Sheesh Mahal he was speaking about her "aukat" (status) and how the gals like her think and act,today she was raging about his "Kind" and how the person like him act without thinking.ASR she got you there didn't she.hmmm👏
"Iss se phele aap hamari "aukat" par puhach jaein ',Hum aap ko bata dein'. Hum yeh naukri dar kar nahin chor rahe''par Hum kissi ke naukar nahin ban sakte'"
(Before u reach to my status I want to tell u ,I am not leaving becoz I am afraid but b/c I can't become servant of someone)
Khushi,"I was trapped in the guest house yesterday for hours which gave her time to think and she reached to only one conclusion, "ki bhad mein gaye aap aur bhad mein gaye aap ki naukri'."She throws her anger by giving him lecture on rights and responsibilities (Just remembering Spiderman's uncle words "Great powers comes with great responsibilities") and then turns the table on him and gets even with him that "by abandoning responsibilities, he lost all the allegations towards the contract "Yes I am fine', not because of you ,despite you and don't think I lost because its you who lost this time badly."
"Jo Inssan kisi ki zindagi.. jan bhooj kar khatre mein daal sakta hai 'uss insaan ke saath hum koi rishta nahin rakhna chahate'. Aur yeh mat samjihiyea ga keh hum nai Har man li hai'kyunke yeh har hamari nahin aap ki hai'.aur aap harte bohot bura hain Mr Raizada'.. kyunke aap yeh nahin manein gei keh galati aap ki thi'" ( She accuses him sending him over guest house puts her life in danger and not admitting his fault as he is egoistic).
Asr got the taste of his own medicine today.She uses the word "Rishta".What was she thinking?Is she thinking he wants some relationship with her and on what basis?hmm.. Interesting.😊
"Hamari Zindagi ki keemat hum se pyar karne waloon ko maloom hai" Very touchy indeed. Pause here: I think she thought at this point he will say something but uhhh'nothing.He is Rakhshus..not anything else.She brushes out all of her thoughts'but was she successful ..hmmm...Nahhh...????😲
My life is important to those who love me and can't imagine to do such a thing to me.Pause here: Khushi you are telling him who always risks his life to save yours.rain hug,guest house and from now on ---------every time🥱
He is the one who really knows the value of her life at the end"Khushi mujhe khabi chore kar maat jana..mein tumhare baghair nahin ji paoonga" ( Khushi neverever leave me..I won't live without you)
During all of this ,he stood still with range of emotions over each and every accusation she made but with hurt and pain, his eyes fills with anger over this that she might think he had sent her there purposely to "die". Pause here:You are right ASR but try to put yourself in her shoes,you won't find her wrong either'...
![]()
He stepped forward in his powerful way gazing her still and she steps bacward as usual in assertive way . "Bol Diya" ( said it all) and sticks out his hand for resignation letter. Khushi with anger still,"Bol Diya" and smacks the letter in the palm of his hand.His hand is still sticking out as he is not ready to let her go.Pause here:He went against his nature today and did not say a bit to her. His concerns and budding love for her today made him to control his anger all along.He does not want to hurt her any more because she did suffer a lot because of his anger which in return hurted him and all he did just stared at her helplessly and lifelessly afterwards.awww'😭
Naniji,Anjali, and Mamiji witnessed the unimaginable scene of their life.I felt Anjali sensed something as she knows her "Chote" very well.(AS in the beginning her character was way too mature and sensible){After this I think Mamiji should never call her Phatti Saree but ...)
![]()
After saying goodbye to Naniji she turns and there is this uncertainty all over her face as she did something wrong.In this Brain Vs Heart game,selfless and forgiving Heart is on now.As she is walking away ,he stood there without looking away. His heart was being wrenched out with every step she walks away from him. In between his heart vs Brain ,Controlling brain is on.Right at the door she stops and turns to look at him.Her pain and his longing on her is so visible as someone is snatching his world from him and her side she is expecting him to say something,do something to stop her' Pause here: During Nanital trip "Hum se aap ki yeh chup sahi nahin jati..kuch to boliye 'chaliye What the hi keh dijiye'He can't see her quiet and she can't see him either even he throws anger does not matter to her as during kidnapping.She loves both Shaitan and Rajkumar.
Sheeh Mahal ,That day She left with heavy heart because someone took something precious from her "Her Respect".Today she walked out again with heavy heart because she is leaving there something precious "Her Heart".That day she did not look back because of "fear" that he might do something to disrespect her but today she turned back because of "hope" that he might do something to stop her.
Both gaze each other and their eyes speak without uttering a word.He crumbles the paper in his hand without breaking his gaze.
![]()
It seems to me as he crumbles the paper by glaring ok then go and he crumbles her hope that he might say something to stop her and she is like ok then good bye.Both are arrogant and egoistic at this point...
On the other side love Mamiji's instinct nature about Shyam that he might has another woman and that's why he is not paying attention to Anajli even in this condition as she is fastening and he did not even call once.I like her in this sense because in IPK with her 007 James Bond nature she always brings the negative but true nature of others on the surface.
Shyam is stuck by another calm and sharp cookie Payal as she asks him to fix Buaji's pension problem and get a job for Khushi in his office.He was about to get punched by his non verbal cues as Buaji his savior enters.He really did play along with Buaji's emotions very well.What can I say...
Khushi is walking out with baffling heart as she stopped by Rahim chacha .I noticed Khushi's longiness as she might still hopes for something. Anjali seems have understanding of Arnav and khushi equation I think comes to her;"Hamare Chote itne bure bhi nahin hain." Chote is not so bad may be you both misunderstood each other.But she is way proud of her for standing up against his brother.
Kushi is walking home with her lost look as Payal calls and asks everything is fine.Payal asks"Khuch Bola whoh"'(Did he say something..) and that's exactly is bothering her'.She mumbles in her head."Humein itna Bura kyuon lag raha hai"(Why am I feeling bad) and tell her she will talk to her when she will be home."Tum Theek Ho"as ASR asks her,and she answered yes "I am fine."But Is she.?...No and she knows it and he knows it'.
."Tum Theek Ho" Payal asks her and she has no answer.Baffled Khushi and why not,anyone in her shoes could be ''Its not easy to let go of something which is pulling you like this towards itself''the feeling and longing towards that "Rakhshus"who is her savior also.Who she supposed to believe and who she shouldn't.Her anxiety is increasing with her increasing steps out of RM,going away from him...awww...
ASR is in his room.He is staring at the resignation in his hand, he crumbles it and throws it on the floor as he is done with her,,,,,,,,,but isn't he???
He conceptualizes her in the red saree with loose hair. Kushi envisions the rain hug.. ASR ,himself pinning her up against the wall. Kushi ,herelf pushing him. He has the same vision. ASR ,himself carrying her out of the guesthouse. Both of them, fb reeling the resignation scene. ASR fb her leaving the RM.Pause here:Just like hers"Bhar mein gaye aap" he threw the paper"Bhar mein Gaye tum" no rotten tomatoes plz its my opinion'
Pause here:He remembers all the attractive moments while she remembers all of his concerns and caring moments mmm...Beautiful
Both of them are lost in pain and baffled about what just happened'..There is more than a human eye can meet sometimes and that's exactly we had here'.Even they both are forcing out of their life now but they both are not so done.Its written by fate no matter what...👏

Episode 35:
Though ASR doesn't believe in rituals, he supports anyone who wants to believe them. The hand put forward by him to stop God's diya's flame from getting doused was an indication of that. Live and let live philosophy.
ASR way of making di realise that she is important and not less than anybody just because of a disability. ASR doing the job of a parent here. Though he is younger to di. He considers himself the big brother who will guard little sis till death.
" di, par apko muje ek vadha kijiye. aage se aap ye nahi kahengi ki aap lucky hai, kyonki jijaji aapke saath hai. aapse bohuth jyadha lucky jijaji hai, ki aap unki saath hai. "
" hey devi maiyya, ye har subha hame vo rakshas ka sapna kyo aatha hai " Khushi, eager to go to ASR's office. She is absolutely disappointed at being told that she has already given her resignation and needn't go. The sad bk ground music and khushi's sad toned self thought "ha ame ab vo Arnav Singh Raizada ki shakal dhekne ki koyi zaroorath nahi hai." 😭 showed the girl's state of mind. She is feeling for her rakshas. She felt bad at snapping at him the day before. She felt sad as she will now have no reason to meet him : ))) Mere isaabh se Khushi ki dhadkane abhi se tej hone lage hai !! :)) 😆
calendar ke photographs, ASR gets lost in khushi's photos. He is definitely attracted to her but she has also managed to make an entrance into his heart .. the guy is unable to accept the fact :)
Mighty ASR ko kisi ladki se farak nahi padtha ! lekin ye ladki koyi aam ladki thodi na hai !! Dheere dheere ASR ki dil me basjayegi !! His constant denial and irritation whenever khushi is mentioned.. his annoyance at not being able to forget her. Alls signs of love under construction :))
...
buaji to khushi.. " ye sabh thumare liye nahi hai aaj. tumari vrath hai aaj. samjo ! "
khushi to buaji.. " kya! hamne kudh se bina pooche vrath rakliya ? "
Loved this! Always was a treat to watch buaji's bindaas dialogues. A stern yet jovial big lady. Knows how to get things done, never frightened of her social status !! Her retorts to mami's taunts later on, proved that fact.
That is what is special with IPK. The characters were not just Arnav and khushi. There were memorable special characters like mamiji, buaji, NK whose one liners have made a place in people's heart.
...
A special mention to Sana Khan who potrayed La's character. I loved la's self motivating convo.
Shyam sneaking in to get his mobile.. he he he tough life man !! ... double life jeena chahthe ho tho, ye sab jelna padega bituwa :)))
Questions: Did buaji show a hint of doubt about shyam's character ?
Why does Shyam call Anjali ' Rani sahibha"? I never got this solved !! Is he trying to act as if he is giving her a lot of importance ? I always felt it was too formal a way of addressing someone whom you supposedly love !
episode 33
at the heart of the greatest tales told there's always conflict. the crux around which the story breathes, acquires colour and grows. here too there was conflict from the word go. a visceral clash that was palpable almost; and as often such things are, hard to describe in words. why did they react with such vehement force toward each other from that first meeting in sheesh mahal? why did he snap her dori and the pearls scatter? that night she was truly at the receiving end of his wrath. an anger that was always laced with whispers from the past. he overstepped the mark. she was shocked and something else, again hard to describe. her rage flew at him and in her till then pristine heart came the first shards of an undeniable emotion that finally became love.
today she came to return the compliment and ended up being as unfair to him as he was to her that night. that night he hadn't listened to a word she had to say, suspecting her of the most terrible things. now she refused to let him speak, accusing him of pretty awful things. he had told her he knew girls like her well, and even spoken insultingly of her sister's marriage breaking. all she could do was plead. now she said to him that he was heinous enough to put her life at stake knowingly. and he said not one word.
about 10 minutes of conflict visible and invisible right in the middle of the episode. around it other themes developing plot. but in the middle the battle of dil and dimag, and two contenders curiously equal. today khushi was consciously acting from her dimaag. in fact, right from that chat with lavanya and her hangers on khushi displayed this other side of herself strikingly. she was a bit scared she had admitted, but then she'd calmed herself and perhaps switched on her "dimag ki batti" to survive the battle royal. she knew her dil would be hopeless at this job, being as loving, as giving as she is, she'd find it hard to tell himall she'd made up her mind to. she'd told payal, if the rakshas wants a fight, i'm prepared for it.
he was in a funny state of mind, emotionally churned. di had just gone through a fainting spell and she was his "sab kuch," he'd been reminded of his parents and felt the familiar anger angst turmoil his memory brought him, and back of his mind he was still worried about her. her thoughts practically stalked him (they could teach the IF stalkers a thing or two about lurking without permission, barging into all sorts of places and refusing to leave 🤣). how telling that thought filled little pause in front of khushi's desk, looking at dm, when he ought to be rushing to di. and of course, the beautiful "usska ek naam hai."
in the midst of this the telephone rings. khushi wants to meet him. a wondering but not unhappy or angry look. "khushi?" so comfortable with that name now. let her come. and so she arrives, armed with her letter and her darti hai par karti hai courage, ready to take on mr arnav singh raizada. as she walks in, there he is at the top of the stairs. on his face a shade of concern, a bit of some question, nothing else. her eyes widen, many feelings flow in her, but she walks ahead. the contenders approach each other, exactly as in a battle (nice direction, stirring music, and prolonging this only whets the appetite, gets us ready to watch the smashing duel). as they come face to face, both pause. khushi looks a little nervous, hand instinctively reaching to settle dupatta (nice touch), he waits. her eyes fall on the scar, so do his.
and in a second we are in dil land. he remembers her pushing him in the guest house, so furious, and him holding her back, then by mistake breaking her bangle, cutting her. strains of rabba vey stir the visual.an almost tender look on his face, she looks at his face, seems a little nonplussed, and she lowers her arm. wound out of sight.
"tum... theek ho?"
soft, empathetic query. he needs to know. "mujhe interest nahin hai" is easy to say. khushi has never heard this tone of voice from him. and somehow it acts as perfect fuel for her fire. strange are our reactions when those who mean more to us than we know are concerned. instead of being mollified she's enraged. what did you ask? am i ok? after so much has happened only arnav suingh raizada can say such a thing... she takes off. he opens his mouth to explain, but...
"nahin!
aaj hum bolenge...
toh jahan tak aapka sawal ka jawab hai... toh haan, mr arnav singh raizada, hum abhi theek hain...
aur agle kuch hi minton mein hum aur bhi theek hone waale hain... kyonki humne yeh faisla kar liya... ki hum yeh naukri chhodenge."
he looks stupefied almost at this declaration. she holds out her letter and he stands immobile just looking at it, almost a flash of pain in his eyes. then she continues, before you say i have lost... she counts out all the difficult tasks he'd set her and made her suffer through. he looks uncomfortable, perhaps even a bit remorseful about that... and speaking of the contract which she tried to live up to with sincerity and hard work, she ends:
"khushi kumari gupta ka naam aapke keemat se zyada maine rakhta hai."
she was trapped in the guest house for quite some time. gave her time to think, and all her thoughts led to the same conclusion, "ki bhad mein gaye aap aur bhad mein gaye aap ki naukri." as her anger pours out, she throws caution to the wind and speaks of rights and responsibilities, and how he had abdicated the latter, therefore had lost the claim on the former. she then accuses him of sending her to a dangerous place knowing it might threaten her life. the tirade loops back elegantly to the opening gambit, after all this you say "tum theek ho?" yes i'm fine, not because of you, despite you. and don't think i have lost this bet, you have.
people who love me, would never send me to such a place and put me in harms way. people who love me... neat dialogue, emotionally resonant, hits the viewer.
all the while he stands there silent, just looking at her, slight changes in expression in reaction to her words. at around the point she decides he knew she might die there, yet sent her, i thought i saw anger enter his eyes. if so, would be perfectly understandable.
he steps forward, she backward as though on cue. "bol diya?" he says, terse, clipped, efficient, maybe reining in his temper (why? because he understands her panic and really doesn't want to be nasty to her?) and sticks out his hand for the letter. the contenders are face to face, she spits out "bol diya!" and slaps the letter into his palm. boy, that felt like a real fight between lovers. just that bit. otherwise it was kkg asserting herself before the naturally authoritative and powerful asr.
yet surprisingly when after bidding naniji farewell khushi turns there's this deep and uncertain look in her eyes. rabba vey fades in. their eyes just gaze into each other. a connection you feel you can touch.
dimag had had its say. now it was dil's turn. all the while she walks away, there's an anguished look on her face, while he stands stock still watching her leave, away and a bit further away she goes, he can't look away. right at the door, she stops, and turns to look at him. pain on her countenance? he looks as though his whole world is going away. neither says a thing. he crushes the letter in his fist.
"don't ya love her madly, don't ya need her badly
don't ya love her ways, tell me what ya say,"
"don't ya love her madly, don't ya love her face
don't ya love her madly as she's walkin' out the door"
~~~ robbie krieger, the doors ~~~
fantastic acting by barun and sanaya in this tense, erupting scene. a whole dialogue seemed to take place in parallel just through their looks at each other.
the smart and a bit naughty screen play has mamiji wondering if shyam has a woman in his life at the beginning of the episode only to be admonished by mamaji. and at the end, we see, shyam indeed all set to let another woman into his life. he will calm khushi down, he knows how, yuck. before that a little teasing of buaji. mami was always the hintiya giver in ipk. her "cantrobhersial" weather forecast is about to come true i bet.
anjali moves into the asr kkg equation with a little hijacking of khushi on the way out. she is proud of the way khushi confronted him, however chhotey is not that bura a guy. khushi leaves, but that lost look, that confusion never quite leaves her face. in his room he reads her resignation letter. both remember things. he sees her in her red saree, hair flying. she remembers him holding her in the rain. they both recall the conflict in the guest house. you can walk out the door, but can you leave each other?
conflict takes us to resolution, without it, we can't really strive. as they say, all's fair in love and war. a powerful episode. brilliantly devised and of course, performed.
sometimes silence speaks more, much more than words. even though the words seem potent, loaded with meaning, they still don't quite achieve what some silences do. there were a lot of those silences in episode 32. khushi's wondering, slightly disturbed look as she clutched her jiji close. what was that? hadn't she just said, "jiji, girti hui imarat samhal li, kuch bhi samhal loongi"?
"does not everything depend on our interpretation of the silence around us?"
~~~ lawrence durrell ~~~
or the one up there, where he looks into a story we can't see but we can feel his anguish about it, as though he doesn't want to listen. something to do with his mama and papa, he almost flinches at the words when di says she wished they were there for she can't handle all the anger flaring around anymore. his face hardens in an instant and his fist closes in a tight knot. the pain hits hard.
yet when he whips around to give his sister a harsh answer, he sees her face, it's sadness and worry, he melts. a whole love story was written in just those swiftly changing expressions. i wish i could capture all of them and include here. his hands came and grasped hers tenderly, and he said the words just in case we hadn't understood, but we knew that all along, didn't we? "aap sab kuch ho, di. main aapki aankhon mein aansoon nahi dekh sakta."
he will fight the whole world to bring back her happiness. (little does he know he will have to fight the most precious thing he's ever had to do just that.) she will make his kind of food to make him feel better. she knows he's feeling bad about too many things. what happened to khushi, what's happening with nani, their parents, everything, all she wants to do is make it ok for him. some soup might help? siblings love in funny unspoken ways, even when they are rivals, even when they aren't always good to each other. ipk had a particularly keen understanding of this. which is why, when anjali started to lie to chhotey i'd thought we'd see something very interesting. it could have been that. a glimpse of it in the miscarriage scene, where she finally believes as she looks into the eyes of her brother standing outside. again, silence.
a beautifully crafted episode that seemed to me to be about name, identity, pehchaan, and an awareness that is refusing to go, in fact making quite a place for itself. from buaji's "wah nand kissore," to mamiji's warning of "cantrobhersial" food, everything felt smooth and was intensely expressive, almost as much as barun's face.
payal was picking up the unspoken cues of worry and uncertainly from khushi and reflecting it back. she was happy with khushi's decision to resign, but still... if only they hadn't come to delhi. khsuhi counters without thinking, "nahin, jiji, dilli itni bhi burie nahin hai, matlab agar hum dilli nahin aate toh... toh..." toh ham arnavji se kaise miltey? is that what her heart wanted to say? we'll never know.
he'd had a bad night, then all that talk about marriage with nani, and her little pull a bride out of a hat trick, he strode into office in a foul mood. how a man can change the whole energy of a place by simply walking through it, i will never understand. the grim walk in with inert eyes, reminiscent of the mazar entry, and the long steps carrying him out with a simple pause at the sight of dm, said more than most things he said today. especiallyabout that awareness. it intruded even when he was rushing to see his di who had fainted. how much of a statement is that?
as if that were not enough:
"usska ek naam hai!"
just the day before he had used her name for the first time. once in reference, but twice directly, calling out to her, hoping she was there, alive, unhurt. then that wondering, "khushi" as she let go on him. and today, he wanted her to be given the respect of being called by her name. why? he didn't care after all. all he wanted was for her to lose and go away. mera naam hai arnav singh raizada. the boy who'd rejected his father's name and taken his mother's proudly, knew the importance of a name. that it was identity. you mess with it, you are messing with the person's being. today he can't tolrate this disrespect for her.
somehow he was sensitised to her now. she mattered. maybe he was still worried about her. when he hears the giggling trio, something snaps in him. he lashes out. and lavanya's unthinking chamkili just pushes him over the edge. he gives pam and sim this appraising look when he walks in. did he see the completely opposite kkg in his mind as he looked at them? did he feel a little tired of this thick shallowness?
she walked in all prepared to resign. and just inside the ar door, she stopped. her hands tightened on the strap of her bag. she's tense, she's gathering her will and courage. in her eyes, something more again. then she remembers. one of the most timeless moments in ipk. he is reaching out, holding her head, pulling her up and rushing out, he's turning back to look at her. oh just hold it there. what's in his eyes. she's succumbing... he's looking at her, jaw clenched. the memories bring involuntary words to her lips,"devi maiyya raksha karna." of course, just then he stops in his tracks to look at dm sitting pretty on her desk. a long pause, he is obviously thinking of her. they miss each other, never making contact. yet a funny communication, a connection through devi maiyaa just now.
"we know what we are, but not what we may be."

pehchaan is one of the main motifs of ipk. to be who you are, to know who you are, to discover yourself. an individualistic slant in all its characters. as iconoclastic as its main protagonist, ipk sought to break stereotypes, and make us look into the heart of things. the makers were trying to communicate something they considered important. which is why maybe we were often presented with a character in a certain way, only to find later they were not at all as we'd imagined them to be. there was the issue of well rounded, lifelike characters, but also the element of "revelation" of each one. who would have thought, mami was capable of so much love and loyalty. or la, just look at her. did we ever think she would become one of the most memorable characters of ipk, a character like her has perhaps never been seen in indian tv or films.
this what you see is not what you get, i felt was always more than just clever writing. it was very much driven by content and core thought. someone was urging us to look beyond the surface. and w hat's more, was treating us like intelligent people, who could figure things out. which is why maybe all those carefully crafted silences, and beautiful expressions and body language, and other signs and symbols.
reflections. for days we've seen them, on windows, mirrors, water. now a clear look at image, it's meaning, and the need to see oneself clearly.
"lucknow se hain, iss liye darke bhage nahin...
balki khud batane aaye hain ki yeh naukri humare layak nahin...
humaari parvarish toh aisi hai..
humey sikhaya gaya hai ki sahi kaam karo...
aur poore atma sanman ke saath karo..."
so just like him, she has been taught the value of being and doing "sahi." his life has been stricken by "galat," and that's one thing he just doesn't want to be: galat.
"rehne dijiya, aapko batane ki koi faida nahin...
atma sanman toh unka hota hai, jinki khudki koi pehchaan ho...
aur aapka toh poora din inki nakal karne meinnikal jaata hai..."
she retorts when sim cuts in,
"hum khud ko kuch nahin samajh rahe,
kyonki hum jaante hain ki hum kaun hain...
aur hum jo bhi hain usse khush hain...
par aap kabhi aine mein dekhkar khud se poochiye,
ki aap khud ko pehchanti hain bhi ya nahin...
agar khud ko pehchan pati, yeh locket chhupakar nahin rakhti...
aapke dil me jo hai usse chehre par laake dekhiye..."
a brilliant set of terse lines that reflect her intense anger and personality, her belief in herself. in many ways she is the mirror image of the man she calls rakshas. and today, she is so riled by all the injustice that's come her way, she's calling off the game, and reasserting herself. khushi's journey of self discovery is as potent as asr's. this episode was telling in so many ways.
now we await the "cantrobhersial" thing. and please, may i have two nurses too, i faintiya gayi every time a certain someone walks in or out.
Some thoughts to share...
After blasting ASR and handing him her resignation a confused Khushi returns home. She tells Payal she gave the 'Rakshas' a piece of her mind but she was stil not feeling good about it. Maybe she should meet him again and tick him off some more.But actually I think she was confused and wanted to meet him again coz the'rakshsas' was also her 'rakshak'. He had saved her in the parking lot and if it hadn't been for him she might have been seriously injured in the guest house. She realized that in her heart of hearts and would have felt better if she had thanked him for saving her life. One part of her heart hated the perpetrator, the other was falling for her saviour! Hayee! No wonder these early episodes pulled at our heart strings!I want to thank all you guys, cynthia, indi, barundiwani, arshihamesha and everyone else on this thread for shedding new light on old episodes and inspiring and transforming lesser mortals like me into merry philosophers!
