HI friends Thought of discussing the very intriguing and oft discussed SheeshMahal!( FICTIONAL, All the captions given for the photos and explanations are fictional )

Well my FF THE MIRAGE has sparked many of you to reminisce about the alluring SeeshMahal. I thought why not relive IPk in a different way!

I invite all of you who have been reading my FF MIRAGE to come and participate by sharing their views about
1. SheeshMahal and its details as created and shared in the FF or
2. Your own musings on the same.

Anything creative is also welcome including your requests and suggestions if any for any type of scenes with the Sheesh Mahal as setting!

Last but not the least i shall dedicate this post to our member mrign who shares my fascination with the old building and her comments sparked this post1
HERE ARE SOME EXCERPTS and fictional details from my work:
"Is it really worth all this? isn't it a bit too late to think on those grounds! Sheesh Mahal is just not their home! It is their honour their pride! Babuji always told her and jiji that he never regretted not having a male heir to his vamsh. He used to say i am sure my daughters will do much better than any son! Thinking about these things is different but getting married that too in return for something to a stranger ...well almost a stranger is something else! "Hey devi mayya!"

The legendary Sheesh Mahal

Taraavar of THE MIRAGE:

" Jijaaji, This was a natural pool turned man made for the then governor of this province Lord williams. If you see yonder you will see that this part of the Mahal is made out of the rock from the hillock leaving the rest of the hill untouched. A mountain stream trickles down to form a pool just where the pool is right now but when the lord was supposed to stay here the then rana... Rana VishwaManohar singhji got a pool constructed in such a way that this could be filled and emptied using levers. As you know water is scarce in this part of the world but Vaishali the stream always keeps the pool from being empty.

Stream VAISHALI forming Taaravar...

Ranaji got the pool bed embedded with mirrors so that during nights when they lit the lanterns the pool became a replica of the sky with the mirrors appearing like stars for people afar downtown or at Sheesh Mahal. It Is thats why named Taarasarovar which is now pronounced as taaravar! ASR smirked! Here goes one more story one more name!

RENOVATED TAARAVAR...

"Nahi Shyamji kahan hum yahan se gol baaramda tak hi nahi aapaaye ab mandap tak kahan aayenge?" ( No Shyamji! I couldn't even make it to the gol Baaraamda how can i even reach the mandap?),she asked him!

A peek at the Mahal surrounding Gol Baraamda on eastern side!

...Khushi tripped on the embankment and lost her balance and the next thing she knew was that she was falling as she realised she in her thoughts walked to the far side and was not on the stairs but on the low roof that hung over the eastern section of the mahal which housed the marriage party and was called the lord Governer ki koti as the legend goes that once the British governer of the province stayed as a guest at Sheesh Mahal in that section of the eastern haveli.

Lord Governor ki Kothi

Passage door leading to the kothi

The maang teeka that she wore along with the jewellery and the attire made her look like her ancestors whose portraits were still hung in the corridors of the great hall called the Jalsa Ghar with its mammoth chandeliers and ornate banisters. But Khushi was too much into herself to appreciate her appearance...little did she know how the dress and the jewellery enhanced her delicate features making her look fragile and breath takingly beautiful. She looked adorable and any grooms dream bride.

Please do enjoy, participate, comment and share your fantasies about ARHI!

Un-Res...this calls for a looong post!!

Anu, Thank you so much for the dedication! 🤗

Awesome post! And I loved the pictures!

Sheesh Mahal has always been fascinating, and was probably one of the things among many others that first caught my attention about IPK.

Conjuring up images of the mirror hall in Mughal-e-Azam, one would think that maybe there was a large mirror hall within sheesh mahal from which it got its name. Or maybe the mirrors are scattered everywhere like in the pool, taaravar!

I loved how u combined the pool which is the center of almost all the romance in IpK and the mirrors and stars... Absolutely Brilliant!!

I could so imagine a scene with khushi Arnav sitting beside the pool, gazing at each other in the reflection of the mirrors from the pool...

What can I say about The Lord Governor's Kothi? It's a little funny how u weaved that name into ur story :) now khushi has one more reason to call him laad governor..

One suggestion, why don't you include this post of yours into ur FF?

Great job and continue giving us superb updates 👏

Just some stuff about real life sheesh mahals...
I just came to know that there are multiple sheesh mahals scattered across Rajasthan.. And all of them are gorgeous! Most of them are simply names for a mirror embbedded hall within a fort.

Take a look at this one from Mehrangarh fort in Rajasthan...

I even found a sheesh kothi which would be amazing to sleep in, though one wouldn't get much sleep just gazing at all those mirrors.. But its terribly romantic! Look here..

Wow! Thanks so much. I am smitten by these sheesh mahals and believe me i do intend to include this in my FF. eding is the constraint. Plus writing fiction is such a process which takes you with it. I am enthralled as much by your pics as i am by your imagination which matches mine.
Awesome post! Thank you ma'lady
