I have never watched Hindi shows before, being an Indian, simply because most of them deal with kitchen politics or melodrama and the few good ones derail in a few months. My best friend strongly suggested this show. I had then mocked at the title and told her with conviction that this will follow the same league. After a lot of persuasion, when I saw the episode where Khushi gets stuck in the construction site, I was zapped.

Here is a woman who had the guts to push and yell at the boss, questioning his beliefs. Here was a guy who was on the borderline of being dark, did not care about anyone other than his sister and family. Who even after realising his fault, was too proud to admit of it. Love hate stories are common, but looking at the leads, I felt they were redefining chemistry on screen. When the episode proceeded to show Payal shouting at Arnav, I could relate to her being an elder sister and being protective about my younger sibling. The show started growing on me with me relating to it, analysing it, comparing with it at every stage.
I had no complaints through most of the tracks. Even the kidnapping one was fine with me as I had the assurance that they would reunite, I saw a woman reaching all limits to get her husband back. The Anjali track was something I couldn't relate too; I just couldn't understand how the sweetest person started turning grey. Shital track made me want to cry ''Where on earth is the show''.
Coming from a family where both my parents do not watch soaps, it was surprising when this norm in the house changed to accommodate ipkknd as a family show. My sis and I yet can not believe that my parents enjoy it. Lovely memories will remain but at 8 IST I better immerse myself in my studies to get rid of the nostalgia.
Oops its a long post.

I know, I never liked watching any South Asian drama due to stupid butchering and stupid story lines.. But this show*sigh

your journey started with the nanital episode !!!!!! so did mine..
once i was hell bored with my studies and i was whining like a pup around my sis telling her how much my life sucked..
she wanted to cheer me up..my sis liked SNS back then...and i had a tiny thing for ahem(male lead of sns) eventhough i didn't watch the show...
she held my arm and dragged me to the pc and i was like ''oh dear god, i dont want to watch that saas bahu crap''..
but she showed me something else..something i never expected from an indian soap..something which attracted me like moth to flame...
even during my exams while my whole family wanted me to stop watching ipk ,i turned deaf to my own ears..
i sneaked the laptop and the dongal from ammis room ,locked myself in the bathroom and watched the show wearing my head phones (shush shush.. its a secret)..
even if my baby is going off air this friday, i will always cherish the lovely memories it gave me..
it hurts a lot to digest the fact that the journey is over...
but i sure will make my grand children watch the show..(if i lived that long😆 )

No, it's perfect!

I'm just like you in the sense where characters become real to me. I LOVE reading and writing so when I come across characters such as Arhi (which is rare) I am drawn to them and can't help myself. Very well written. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I think after Friday, it will take me some time to start watching from the beginning without crying. I'm scared to start from the beginning now as I know I will start crying and I'm trying to hold it in. I probably sound crazy to some, but oh well..

:) I think it is something to do with writers... for us characters are real.
