This huge disconnect that they(SP,4L) have with their end user is sure to haunt them for a long time.

This should have been a learning experience for them to improve their product,gauging audience reaction but they are insisting on wearing blinkers

The channel research team and PR team are to be blamed for this crisis.

Creatives everywhere are known for this kind of obduracy ,it is for the support team to guide them.

And Spies pls communicate the same to PH & SP, this move has only made us more determined to fight for what we want. Not going to give up.

whatever it is, it is hard to believe that in today's world, sanaya or barun dont check the internet to know about what is being talked about them. I feel what sanaya meant by people bashing Gul is the abusive language used against Gul (I know some people really used real bad ones !) and the baseless accusations made against Gul (regarding hints made about forcing barun out, leaking something wrt bs and si !!! etc ) . These were not required at all. Where are the so called insiders who fed the ipk members all these ''truths'' now? I too agree we dont know Gul, sanaya or barun . Some call Sanaya / barun honest, humble etc., but I ask you, how do you really know? Have you spent time with them? IIIly about Gul. How do you know what kind of person she is ? The only thing I believe is what i see. And i see ipk as a below standard serial and i sincerely feel it is because of Ph since it is after all the ph responsibility.

That is what I think Sanaya meant when she said bashing... But yes if she is not going thru the net then probably the only info she would have about the viewers demands will be that viewers are asking the channel to shut ipk down if barun is out. Which might have made her angry.

I feel we should just do what our heart says and live with it. No need to be attached to any show or get over emotional about strangers whom we only see on the screen

...I wish someone could go and open these forums in front of these misinformed innocent actors... and let them know the real intent of these "bunch of people"...

... in addition to adding revenues for TV industry and salaries for those 200 odd people, this bunch of people have invested their TIME in this show... the same people due to which this thankless bunch of 4 Lions are able to produce new babies...

that is of interest here at this point.

time someone understood fans, internet audience, forum girls, teenage phangurrls, middle aged teenage fangirls with kostins, in the language they seem to understand.

money.

i have heard that ipk has done very well for sp internationally though in india it doesn't have that level of popularity. of course, this si based on erroneous, bought out, now openly contested trp ratings in india. internationally, i think they gauge audiences through online interaction and subscription.

never before in my many interactions with consumer good/services companies, and media ultimnately is that, have i seen this utter disregard, this lack of respect and this prevarication when it comes to the consumer.

in this instance, a viewer who puts several hours a day "consuming" what the channel peddles, in turn helping channel make money.

that trp, which represents the viewership in india, helps channel sell a programme to an advertiser and make money. also depending on timing, prime or otherwise, channels charge for tv commercials in those slots.

the larger the number of viewers, the more the money the channel asks for. it is that simple.

so we the audience are the channel's source of profit.

two instances of large consumer company behaviour:

1. almost 18 years ago, itc (erstwhile indian tobacco) ran a promotion for their hotel chain. the copy said, and i paraphrase: when you as a senior corporate person stay with us, we welcome your spouse for free. then it went on to exclusively address male readers. clearly someone had overlooked the fact that women worked too and sometimes made it big.

i was irritated and shot off a letter to the head of hotels at that time, i think it was mr y deveshwar. i said this was unfair and incorrect, so what happens if the corporate leader in question is a woman? does her spouse get the same benefit?

seriously, i did not expect any response from the mighty conglomerate.

my brother works with the company, he said, at a meeting mr deveshwar actually brought it up. not delighted, but astute enough to know the consumer is getting more aware and thsi needs to be addressed.

a small little line was added at the end of the ad making a note taht thsi offer was open for all business people, men and women.

i felt i was talking to smart people.

someone should check itc's turnover today and the reputation of their hotels.

2. had a problem with liril gel once.

wrote to unilever.

in a week, a letter with an apology and loads of the same product were delivered to my house.

a bit mechanical, a tad rehearsed, but still a clear answer, and an acknowledgment of the consumer.

here of course, there is no acknowledgment of the viewer at all. plus a whole mix of different answers should you call.

and if you write, no response at all.

star plus and ph have much to learn. but frankly, i am up to here. and the day barun leaves ipk, both are out of my life.

it's time to let star plus know that you can't take us for granted. if we are dispensable, so are they.

and the production house with its bizarre "interviews" and playing from the shadows. just plain disgusting.

Hi Priya,

Take a bow! Your threads and insight is what helping many of us maintain our sanity and not get distracted with the cheap gimmicks and dirty politics of PH and CVs.

I know the whole interview of Sanaya didn't fit with the Sanaya we all know and have seen for 1.5, but what really stood out to me like you mentioned is "Bunch of people"!! This is so not her ' Every opportunity, every chance she never ever missed to thank the fans and dedicate their success to us. I know Barun always get uncomfortable with fans, the messages and gifts sent but Sanaya is always elated and touched by the things done and said by fans. She gets excited like a kid!!

I don't even want to waste my time talking about 4Lions, it't not worth it but it's really unfortunate that a reputed, successful Channel like Star Plus let all this happen and lost control over things. It's unfortunate in the process of making money and running after success they have forgotten that in any business it's the customers that give you money and make you successful. And one of the biggest blunders anyone can commit in a business is upset the customers, take them for granted. Customers are patient and once they lose the patience they can really turn your business upside down.

I am copying an extract from the spamming emails I sent Star Plus -

There are different types of audience; there are audiences that have all the time in the world to watch TV so will watch anything shown on TV. There are audiences that have some time dedicated to TV and pick and choose what they want to watch. There are audiences who just got used to watching something and will watch it no logic applied, quality doesn't matter.

But there are a huge number of people who make special efforts to stay away from daily serials, especially Indian Serials. This is the audience that are smart, intelligent, logical and tech savvy. They are from different walks of life, working in wide range of professions, or home makers, students, different age groups, spread across different continents. This is the audience that looks for something real, something they can relate to, content, logic and consistency. And "Is Pyar Ko" was successful in fetching this audience for you!!! They made IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE FOR YOU. Most of the viewers of "Is Pyar Ko" have never watched a daily serial in their entire life, which have many choices on TV but chose "Is Pyar Ko".

So my point, PH and CVs have messed up with wrong audience we are the gullible audience who would watch the leads die 10 times, come back and change 10 times, get married multiple times and above all keep quiet when being messed with our needs, expectations and above all our emotions and our love for the show, the leads and the cast.

We stayed with the show thru thick and thin, we stood by them during low TRPs, we should by them thru weak storyline, we voted for them in every possible awards show and polls and above all we invested our personal time in doing all this for them. The time which we could possible spend with our families or rendering to our hobbies we had in life prior to "Is Pyar Ko". But if we can love so passionate and obsessively then I am sure our anger and wrath can really create unimaginable havocs for PH/CVs.

I AM NOT GIVING UP, even if Barun and Sanaya give up!! Bas Bol Diya!!

PS: The reference to "India Forum", I got that multiple times from CVs Customer Service ' When I asked them if "India Forum" is official site of Star Plus or if it works for Star Plus, the guys didn't know where to hide and cut my calls'..

Very well analysed the current situation n the so called interviewes agree wit u completely finally everyone got wat they wanted Barun got leave Gul got reason to end te show or continue it eventually to end Sanaya wl get a new lead 200 workers wl continue wit the job ( seems they don't knw the serial cannot go lifetime it has to end somewhere then wat wl they do then remain jobless SANAYA can answer this Well) n finally we the die hard viewers of IPK wat do we get rude n harsh words frm actors or PH whom we luvd so much , abrupt end of the epic luv story which we hav always cherished n want it to remain in our memories forever, leave of our favourite iconic character BARUN SOBTI whom we truly loved for the wonderful work he as done n cold behaviour frm CHANNEL PH N ACTORS

I THINK NO ONE ELSE EXCEPT THE VIEWERS ARE AT LOSS

Ur post is so true I think u shud mail it to the sp the PH n also send it via post on IPK sets to SAnaya as she is not on any SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE
