IPK - A Fan's Request - CALL StarPlus

So another thing that I have NEVER done before, email a Channel about a tv show. But I just had to do it so I can somehow justify all the countless hours I have spent loving and discussing this show. This is what I sent to the channel folks and I encourage everyone to write to the channel. If nothing else, you will feel better! Trust me.

If people are resonating with this, can I request folks to tweet/facebook/what-have-you to various outlets? Maybe if enough people echo these thoughts, something might happen? Even if nothing happens, at least we know we did our part. Please tweak the email and don't use the exact words, otherwise Star Plus will think of it as a mass spam and delete/block all emails.

I have been a loyal fan of your show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon from day one and today I am very disheartened that I have to resort to emailing you regarding the recent events.

As a global channel, I am sure you are aware of the reach your shows have nationally and internationally but I would still like to reiterate what IPKKND means to me and other viewers. I am an international audience who has never watched an Indian soap before. I am not even from India. When I came across this show, it took me by a surprise to see such a refreshing concept with such an amazing cast. I am not the only one. The entire fanbase of this show is as unique and diverse as this show. I have never seen any show with this kind of reach where people from all over the world are connected with each other because of the love of this show. There is an entire virtual world on Facebook, Twitter, India-Forums that lives, breathes this show every day. Numerous episode analyses, video messages, fan fictions have been written because of the inspiration this show gives the viewers.

To say I am upset, disheartened, irked, livid etc about the recent events is an understatement. The less I say about 4lions is the better. I along with almost all the online IPK community is well aware of the off screen drama that 4lions has been pulling off for a while. The show is absolutely NOTHING without Arnav and Khushi AND Arnav and Khushi are NOTHING without Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani. I am appalled that 4lions can come up with such a disgusting track to destroy their own show but I am not surprised at all. Their interest in the show has been waning for a while and their post on their forum32 asking for ideas, brought the point home. I had a hunch since the channel is not letting 4lions end the show, they will degrade the show so much that the audience will stop watching forcing the channel to take the show off air, I am afraid I wasn't wrong. What is even more surprising and confusing is the silence from the channel. I don't understand the inner workings of the channel and how these matters are handled so I can't and shouldn't tell you what to do. As a viewer, I should not be made aware of the off screen terms and conditions and negotiations but unfortunately in a virtually connected world, once a news is leaked, it goes viral. I am certain a respectable channel like yours would definitely be concerned if a small Production House is trying to malign its name.

This show has brought people together like no there. Non-Hindi speakers have learned the language, people have gotten subscription to your channel only for this show and will cancel it in a a heartbeat if the show is tampered. The number of hits on YouTube give you just a mere glimpse of how deeply and passionately this show is loved. The fan base for this show is really intelligent, smart, educated, professional folks who at the end of a hard day just want to sit and enjoy this show for the beautiful love story of Arnav and Khushi. As a loyal fan of the show, here are my humble requests:

1. Please take this show away from 4lions and give it to another Production House which respects the channel, actors and what this show represents.
2. If the actors have decided to leave the show, please end the show with the original cast and give it a graceful ending. Fans will be okay if the show ends in a month as long as it ends on a note that keeps the love story intact. Please don't let anyone butcher this love story.
3. Arnav and Khushi are nothing without each other. Some things should remain untouched. The idea of pairing them with other characters is disrespectful, despicable and disgusting to the characters and the actors who have put their heart and soul to make Arnav and Khushi come alive.
4. If for whatever reason, IPKKND can't continue with the story and cast intact, please give Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani a different show with a unique love story. You have a magical couple. immense talent and jackpot in your hand with these two.

If one of the leads leave, the viewers leave and the show is dead. If you let 4lions pursue the suggested track, no one will watch the show AND you run a very high risk of loosing viewer's respect. So far, the viewers are of the opinion that the channel will come through and stop this mockery. In case you let 4lions continue, the viewers will be dejected with Star Plus. The power of social media is immense, once the viewers unite there is no stopping them. The international viewership that SP has garnered because of IPK will disappear in a second. I am sure you don't want to risk that.

I by no means can tell you what steps to take. All I can hope for is as an employer, you will take the necessary corrective actions and respect your product, actors and the viewers. This show is a phenomenon because of Arnav and Khushi's love story. You take that away, you just have some random people on the screen reading random lines for 30 minutes. I don't know if it is too late to salvage the situation, I don't even know if my email will be acknowledged let alone read. As a fan all I can do is hope you will do what is right by the fans and the actors and not disappoint us.

Joey - As I said I really didn't intend to write coz I did not want to waste anymore time on this show. But it is your post and so I reserved, it was a knee jerk reaction😆

Well, evil twin you know I do not feel as passionately as you do coz I stopped relating to this show a while ago. I was just going thru the motions of watching the show I once loved. The PH has been treading a slippery slope for a while now, so this doesn't come as a surprise to me.

• To me the show ended with the marriage, however ill conceived that track was. What should have been the most beautiful moment in the lives of a much in love couple was destroyed with an ill-concieved track, the return of Shyam. However I still had hopes for the track since I couldn't wait to watch the much touted past. Well, that too was a huge let down. The past fizzled out without much of a mystery we all decoded. All the symbolism we so eagerly decoded was nothing but crumbs thrown to analytical bhikaari's here.

• But looking back even that was far superior to what ensued. What should have been natural progression for a much in love couple was to take their relationship to the next level. But there too it was a huge let down.

• The sole intent for most of us here was entertainment. But the sole intent for the PH seems to have been entertainment(NOT). So it was a lose-lose situation for us, the audience. Romance was the premise of the show but for the PH it was romance(NOT). With so many NOT's I decided to NOT post. You however got me out of this exile and I hate you(NOT) for that...😡

• With Barun and most of the original cast threatening to leave or leaving the show, the show has hit a new low. This amounts to mismangement of epic proportions. What was once touted as one of the most popular show with the international audience is reduced to nothing. Sad state of affairs indeed.

• This show had the potential to reach great heights. But greed got the better of people. What beats me is why would one ditch a succesful show/baby in search of the next best thing? For any businessman or woman, every project old or new is nurtured much the same way as long as it stays lucrative.

If either Barun or Sanaya leave, end the show on a high note with Arnav and Khushi living happily ever after/ walking into the sunset or whatever is the equivalent. The loyal fan base of this show deserves this ending for having stuck through the highs and the lows of the IPK journey.

Leave the audience with a feel good feeling of watching an unique love story which was short and sweet by daily soap standards but struck a wonderful chord with viewers around the world.

Thank you for putting forth our collective thoughts and feelings about the show and the state it is in now in such a heartfelt manner , expressing very poignantly our sense of betrayal and hurt about the way the PH has treated the love and regard we have for the show.

I sincerely hope the people in the channel read it and appreciate our feelings about the characters and the actors who brought them so vividly to life.

Like yourself and probably quite a large number of people here, I was drawn to the show by the unusual story it promised to tell and promptly fell in love with the characters and the actors who played them. I waited patiently for things to work out well for them, only to be disappointed repeatedly and left feeling very drained.

I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes but I somehow cannot help but blame the PH for the state it is in now, They did start well, but they have not been good at maanging the success of this show.

I put up with all the insult to my intelligence that some of the tracks caused me, waiting patiently for a closure. Having invested so much of my emotional energies in this show, i only want a proper closure to this show, As a devoted viewer, it is my right to want to see the characters I so love get some happiness in their lives.

So I sincerely hope your plea is read and the show is brought to a proper end and I get that sense of closure that something in me craves so badly.

And like Maxine, there is a part of me that is bloodthirsty, and is baying for the PH's blood for messing our heads about by inflicting the rubbish of the last few months and not having the decency to respect either the viewers or the actors. They have wronged everyone. I want them to get their comeuppance.😡

Are you okay if we just copy and paste your email to them? I think it makes the most amount of sense and is eloquent and if enough of us send the same thing, it shows a unity amongst fans. What do you think?
