"Arnav ji! Arnav ji!" Khushi had come yelling while running towards Arnav's cabin, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
Arnav was in one of his meetings when an ecstatic looking Khushi had come barging through the door.
"Arnavji, we're going to be parents!" yelled Khushi while storming in. She noticed all the faces looking towards her and felt the embarrassment at her sudden outburst. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks and knew that they would be bright red.
"Excuse us" was all that Arnav could muster to say after a few seconds of silence, after finally comprehending what had happened.
He led her to the adjourning cabin and before he could close the door, Khushi leapt into his brace.
"Is it true Khushi? Are we really going to be parents?" asked Arnav after a few minutes of their embrace.
"Yes Arnavji, Devi Mayyan listened to our prayers".
Khushi felt herself getting lifted off the floor and twirled around. Arnav was thrilled, he didn't know how to react. Khushi and he had been trying to conceive since a while and their wish was finally granted.
"Arnav ji, we have so much to do. We need to buy it's clothes, get the pram, the room renovated , the cot, the nappies, and...Hey Devi Mayyan there's so much to do and so little time!"
"Khushi we have 9 months!" but Khushi would have none of it she dragged him with her to the shopping mall.
Arnav smiled as he remembered all the memories that replayed in his mind. He remembered all the constant mood swings and midnight cravings. He remembered the debates that they had about their child's future and the endless talks about how she couldn't wait to see their child's first step, word, day at school and so on. But little did she know that she wouldn't be able to any of it.
A lone tear escaped his eyes. When the news of Khushi's death during childbirth had first come to him, he had refused to believe it, felt as if his world had crumbled and the ground was snatched from beneath him. But when he came to grips with reality he had decided that he would love their daughter immensely and never let her feel the loss of her mother. He decided that he had to be the best father to her and give all the joy that he and Khushi had both decided. He walked towards the balcony with his angel in his arms and looked out to the stars until he found his Khushi, the biggest and brightest star out there. He pointed towards it.
"Look there, there's your mama", he whispered to his princess and continued dazing out to the night sky, thinking about what the future had in store for them.
