Harshi, I am north indian n i remember haldi always is done post ganesh evovking, I m not sure abt Punjab, but Up uttranchal, rajashthan , Up & Mp OI know everywhere ganesh puja n then haldi, + post haldi the bride n groom arent left alone till the marriage tks place
