No Kushi would have been told that he is dead along with her mother. But in reality he might be alive with memory loss or camatose or paraphlegic which would traumatise a child who would have adored her parents if the parent alive is not able to recognise her. So Garima might have told Kushi that he had passed away in the accident itself.

As per Garima's character, she wouldn't lie to Khuhsi, that too about her parents until there was serious majboori and the very life of Khushi was in danger... 😊
