Okay, here goes...

Arnav's Dad and the OW's affair is out in the open and Dadi decides to send her to Mumbai; Chachaji is the one who takes her to Mumbai. before leaving, Malik Sr. meets with the OW and promises to settle things... Chachaji liked the OW and was probably in love with her but when he learns of his elder brother's treachery he is heartbroken... He talks to the OW and tells her that he'd take care of her(NK's dialogue today)... she refuses and goes away to Mumbai; now Chachaji is the only one who knows where she is...

He returns, only to find that his marriage is being fixed with a woman, (Garima) without his knowledge and that too, to cover up another of his brother's misdeeds; his thread snaps... He pulls wool over Dadi's eyes and makes it seem like Garima was a characterless person and was after Sr.Malik... the wedding stops but Chachaji is waiting for his revenge...

Anjali's marriage is fixed... Chachaji sees the opportunity; he contacts the OW and convinces her that he was on her side(like Khushi did with Shyam during the kidnap track). the OW reaches Lucknow on the wedding day and confronts Sr.Malik. Mrs.Malik witnesses it and the hathsa happens...

Dadi meets the OW again and she, though shocked that the abortion hadn't happened, agrees to give the child Malik surname when Arnav protests; he wouldn't let the child of the woman who killed his parents have their family name; Chachaji also agrees because if another heir is named, he has lesser chance of getting Sheesh Mahal. The OW is once again stigmatised and chased away. Thus, she plans for revenge...

The story has some loopholes. See in the flashback where they have shown only once where Arnav's dad and mom talking before his mom commits suicide his dad says, "Rathna, you have mistaken." but she runs away and commits suicide. I think at that time it was Garima who had met Arnav's dad and maybe asking him for some help for the treatment of Kushi's dad who was involved in the accident a year earlier when Kushi's mom passed away. Dadi must have met Garima again under misconception of her being the other woman. And Garima fearing Dadi being all alone and needing to raise Kushi by herself succumbs to her threats and is stigmatised. I feel Arnav's dad was telling the truth about the woman his wife witnessed him meeting. So that is why Arnav might again accept the surname Malik as he finds out that the woman his mother thought to be other woman and committed suicide was not the real one and he might feel that his father was not given a chance by his mother to explain. But he had an affair with Shyam's sister where she(Shyam's sis) had voiced her insecurity to him (Arnav's dad) as shown by Arnav and Kushi in the last night's episode.
