Lover's Tiff
Khushi is upset with Arnav, is munching away at her jalebi's and having her usual monologue with her favorite Devi Maiyya about why she didn't pick up his phone call. His words that she broke his trust are still hurting her a lot. How can he say such a thing to her? Yes, she understands perfectly that he hates Shyam. But, whatever she did was for his Di, for his happiness, right? Why can't he get this through his thick head? Her ego is telling her "You are in the right, so why give in, don't pick up his call and don't call him". But her heart will not stay quiet and she keeps peeping at the cell with every other word she utters hoping on hopes that he'll call her. Heart wins hands down and she decides to call him.
Attempt 1 - Hmmm, will he pick up her call? May be not. So, she decides to call his land line, pretending to be Bauji. Arnav picks it up and has just one thing to say 'Shut up Khushi' and hangs up. A miffed Khushi wonders how he recognized her voice when she did such a good imitation of Buaji and she was able to fool her sister so many times... laad governer kahin ke. Khushi bitiya, he's Mr. Smarty pants, you think he won't recognize your voice? Even otherwise, the moment you call, his heart ki ghanti goes tring tring and he knows who it is. Attemptwa 1 phail hui gawa.
Attempt 2 - Khushi sends an SMS to Anrav apologizing for not picking up his phone call and also for pretending to be Buaji. Can he please call her? Arnav reads the message and deletes it. Khushi, on her side, waiting waiting and finishing up whole plate of jalebis and still no reply from Arnav. Attemptwa 2 bhi phail hui gawa. Ab kaa kare (what to do?)
Enuff of waiting, she decides to call him and just then the land line rings and Khushi bitiya is very certain it's Arnav trying to play tricks on her and decides to make him wait. Why should she be the one to bend all the time? She walks back and forth between couch and phone, sits on the couch like a maharani while the phone continues to ring😆. Ok, she's made him wait enough, so let's pick up the phone ...she hears mami's voice, and assumes it's Arnav pretending to be mami (huh? really? he'd do that?). She finally realizes it's truly mami wanting to speak to Buaji. Poor Khushi, nothing worked for you, did it?
In RM, Di decides to talk to Arnav about Khushi. She tells him she's back on her feet, happy and smiling, all because Shyam ji came back. She notices Arnav's clenched hands and understands that he's not all happy with this turn of events (I just loved this gesture showing how upset he still is). Anjali tries to convince him that her happiness is all owed to Khushi and she was responsible for bringing back Shyam. Does he realize that Khushi went against his wishes because she wanted to save her, his Di, the person whom he loves above all? Khushi understands that all he wants is his Di's happiness. Enter Nani who supports Anjali and tries to tell Arnav that Khushi took the right steps to ensure the happiness of all.
Arnav remains silent and Anjali and Nani walk away disappointed (very well done in showing that Arnav will not concur with Di just to make her happy). They meet Mami and NK on the stairs and tell them that chote is not ready to listen to anybody. NK and Mami talk about doing their own charu, oops sorry, jaadu and matchwa phixing to set things right. When Anjali asks mami why she's being nice to Khushi, mami for the first time in her life admits that phati sadi did help fix Anjali's life, so she's worthy of her help.
Enter mami into Arnav's room with her phamouswa statement of hello hi... 'Bachelorwa hello hai aur marriagewa bye bye'. She has two decorated coconuts in a thali. She picks up one in each hand, walks around Arnav with the coconuts, starts chanting 'oum hrreemm, breem' and anything else she can think of. When Arnav asks her what she's doing, she very gleefully tells him that she heard that his marriage with phati said is cancelled and once again starts walking around him chanting her nonsensical mantras and then whoosh, nazar utarna in Arnav's face. She tells him it's part of "rich ones", sorry, rituals, that they have to do when a marriage is cancelled. She then gives Arnav one coconut and asks him to hit it on Khushis' head to finish the rituals🤣. This mami ji is really something, I'm laughing even while writing this part of the post. She's too funny. A surprised Arnav asks her, "On Khushi's head?" and she nods. NK comes to tell them that Khushi just came with Buaji and mami confirms that they must have come to return the shagun items. The wise NK tries to explain to nannav that CTRL+ALT+DELETE is necessary to end this marriage completely.😆
Enter Arnav into the hallway and he and Khushi are avoiding each other. Buaji hands over a thali to Anjali and Arnav assumes that she's here to break the marriage ceremony. Buaji notices the coconut in his hands and asks him what he's doing with it. Arnav starts to tell her 'Khushi ke sar ke' and then stops; meanwhile Mami and NK are having a good laugh in the background. An aggravated Arnav then asks them "When did I say that the marriage is cancelled?" Ah huh, they got him, didn't they? The trick played by NK and mami worked like a charm and Arnav neatly fell into their trap. I sometimes feel Arnav is such an innocent and is taken for a ride by his family, chooo shweeet.
Khushi and Arnav are still not talking to each other. While Payal and Khushi are browsing through a magazine, Arnav who's pretending to work on his laptop, keeps staring at Khushi. She can feel his looks on her and peeks at him. As soon as he smiles (how can he help it when he's so happy just seeing her) she tries to pretend that she's still mad at him and turns away. Loved Arnav's slightly raised eye brow, like, really? You are going to ignore me? He then calls NK, the mediator, and asks him to tell Khushi that he's calling her; all this he conveys in a very soft voice (excellent voice modulation by BS, fell in love with it). When NK expresses a doubt "What if she refuses", the overly confident Arnav says "She won't say No, she wouldn't dare. Tell her to make it quick. I don't like to wait for people" Hai la, is this all you understood about your lady love? You think she's going to give in so easily? But, Arnav bitwa is a pro at such games, he pretty much knows what her response will be, but how sweet it is to fight and argue with her, get her all riled up and how much more sweeter is it to make up later.
The ever obedient NK goes to Khushi and repeats Arnav's words verbatim. Of course, Khushi gets annoyed, refuses to go and gives her message to NK in her shudh hindi. Poor NK, what can he do? Goes back to Arnav and tells him "Woh naahi tumhari gulab hain aur nahi tumhari ghuse ki mumtaz hain" (oh man, the whole meaning is changed). Khushi hears NK and corrects him. Once again, the ball is in Arnav's court. He tries to give his message when NK feels it's all getting to be too much and decides to call Khushi from his cell and hands over his phone to Arnav and asks them to speak in their bare bare hindi. Arnav and Khushi can't take their eyes off of each other, but they don't want to give in either. NK's final statement 'Yeh paar, andha hone ke saath saath, stupid bhi hota hain'. How true, one doesn't need brains in Love, only heart. If that's stupid, so be it.
Khushi gets a phone call from Aman that he's unable to reach Arnav's cell and one of the most important deals of his life that really has him worried, did not go through. Can she please pass on the message to him? Just on hearing this, Khushi who was relaxed, gets up, feels agitated and rushes into Arnav's room to inform him of the same. His nonchalant response is, "So what? If the deal didn't happen, it didn't happen." She gets upset at his response and tries to leave when Arnav moves her towards the door way and shuts it. Arnav gets a call from Aman and tells him that 'Deal is done. Khushi's here'. Ah huh, understanding dawns on Khushi that she's the deal they are talking about. When questioned, Arnav's response is 'of course, you are the biggest deal of my life'. She tells him that he cheated. He asks her, if he'd asked her nicely, would she have come? While backing him against the wall, she says no, she wouldn't have because she is really angry at him because he cut her phone call. He says she did the same to him, thrice. She says she did it because she was mad at him as he hurt her with his words. Then he says the words she's been waiting to hear, 'Sorry'.
