"GET OUT!" Arnav bellowed at Khushi his grip tight on the steering wheel, they were on their way home at 10 o'clock in the night from one of Arnav's business parties, neither wanted to go, yet it was necessary for him to be there, so after a lot of persuasion Khushi joined him. They had an okay time, the speeches and plastered smiles were endurable as both had each other's company. Now the couple wanted nothing more than to be as far away from the other as possible, well that's what they think they wanted.
"With pleasure!" Khushi shouted back, opening the door and slamming it against the car. They had, of course, gotten into a fight, Khushi had gotten a phone call and Arnav had picked up that she needed money, for her family? For herself? It mattered not, just that he would arrange for it. Khushi had said she didn't need his help, and in the heat of the moment they had both said things they did not mean.
Arnav sped up, his jaw clenched, thinking of all the things she had said to him, whilst blocking his replies. Was she okay? He suddenly thought, he looked in his rear view mirror and she wasn't there, she had probably used the short cut home, so technically he was doing her a favour he thought to himself.
She'll be fine, he convinced himself. He braked suddenly at the traffic light, not noticing it until the last second, sending his body forward, only to have it crushed back to his seat by the work of his seatbelt. He instantly turned next to him, to see if Khushi was okay-
She wasn't there, she was alone outside, at night and it was all his fault. Arnav finally felt the guilt hit him and he flung his head back. He would do a U-turn, beg her to come back into the car, apologise several times and it would be okay. Right now, he just needed her with him.
The light turned and he swerved the car around, thinking about what he would say to her. He approached the empty spot where he told her to get out, there were trees surrounding the pavements, he thought there was a pathway that led to their house. Oh God, had she gone through the forest? The darkness allowed the viewer to see the outline of the trees, the branches swaying and leaves rustling as the wind rippled through them.
"Khushi! Khushi!" He called. Silence. "Khushi?!" He tried again, his heart racing, panic rising. Where was she? He would have to go into the forest and- wait phone! He smacked his hand against his forehead and ran to the car to retrieve his phone, if she didn't pick up he would go into the forest.
*ring, ring, ring, ring-*
"Hell-"
"Khushi where are y-" Arnav suddenly realised that was not Khushi's voice, as he registered this, he heard a piercing scream on the other side. Khushi.
