While we are on that scene, here is something:

Compare it with:

She is at a wedding, hoping to start her life afresh with him.

He comes to her cos he thinks she has hurt him.
Asks for her hand...as in marriage.
She refuses.
Forcefully marries her binding them together.
Marriage happens.

Doesnt the above make you go WOAH!! It did when I watched the bandagement scene recently.

Both the time unknown to him and her, DM ensured he ended up protecting her from Shyam.

Remember how the engagement didnt exactly happen with Shyam and since she got married, Shyam was forced to stay away
