Give and Recieve
Arnav Singh Raizada, like his wife, has always been a Giver. Security, social standing, material riches- you name it- he has given it all to his family and sister. In return he never expected anything. Not that his family was ungrateful, but he always held himself aloof. So they gave him space and left him alone. Only Nani has been shown to be unsatisfied with this state of matters. She had tried to interfere, which to her mind was for Arnav's own good, only to be stone-walled.
As for his sister, he just wanted that she be there. She was his anchor, the one thing soft and comforting in this harsh world. And she was there. She showered him with love and care and worried about him. He teased her, pampered her, attended to her every wish... and ran to her and curled up in her lap whenever he was upset. He derived comfort from her.
He expects nothing else in return.
Coming to Friday's episode, it was all about the gifts for me. There were other scenes, underlying meanings and a look into the future based on the foundation of the past as well. But somehow, my mind just froze on the gifts.
One of India's richest industrialists decides to gift his beloved wife something and what does he do? He gets her a box of channa, one of jalebis (from her favourite sweetshop, mind you), another box of golgappe, a poster of a middle aged balding actor and a string of pearls. Barring the pearls, the rest of them may have cost less than a few hundred rupees at the most.
And it caught my attention!
Don't get me wrong; I am no mushy romantic. In fact, I found it hilarious and laughed my head off. But that didn't prevent me from seeing the depth of this scene.
ASR has finally understood what makes his wife happy. Her favorite things make her happy. Jalebis make her happy; street food makes her happy; her favorite hero, glass bangles, fairy lights and red roses make her happy...

A smile on Arnav's face, his laughter makes her happy.
It makes her happy that Arnav knows Khushi Kumari Gupta. It makes her happy that he has put in the effort to try and figure her out. It makes her happy that he is thinking about her. It makes her happy that she has a place in his heart.
And Arnav is happy that she is happy. He gets to see her smile, the joy in her eyes and her innocent enjoyment of such simple things. Perhaps he has never before been treated to the sight of such unfettered appreciation by the recipient of the gifts he has bestowed.
But does he expect anything in return? No, he doesn't.
But he would love it if only she would be there for him; now and forever. Poor Arnav! He isn't sure of her yet. If he can't find her, his mind immediately races to the probability that she has left him. He wants her by his side, to be his support.
Some gifts are not given...
...they are just... received...
I hope Khushi will give him what he needs- the assurance that, come what may, she will always be there for him; that she will never leave his side.
Going by the signs at present, one thing is for sure, that unlike his "Pink Brand" cousin, Arnav Singh Raizada will never take his wife for granted. He knows.
RANDOM THOUGHTS
Khushi Kumari Gupta has injured her head. Her powers of retention are abysmal. That she never learns from her mistakes is a given. But that is not what I am talking about. Her husband has forced her to come back under threat. And still she behaves with him as if nothing has happened? I would have understood if she had thawed after the gift scene, but what about the whole of Thursday and the beginning of Friday?
The door to ARHI's room need some expert attention from Harry Potter and his associates... a nice mixture of Muffiliato, Imperturbable and Raizada repellant charms would do it!
Arnav does not seem antagonistic to his Dadi, neither does Nani. They are worried she is missing. It's just Mami who seems to think her arrival in the house will be undesirable.
Akash thinks some matters are better off buried and unexcavated. He refuses to tell his wife anything... oh really? ... Double Standards, anyone?

Anjali wants to start afresh... Good for you, girl! But a teensy weensy bit of a doubt...
To start afresh, don't you have to lay the past at rest?
Would it do to let doubts remain in your mind?
No matter how deep you burry the seeds of doubt, they'll take root and grow shoots.
Anjali was talking to someone outside. Khushi goes up to her and tries to see who it is behind the tree, when there is absolutely no space between the said tree and the boundary wall...
-
The above mentioned tree has been seen before.
1. When Khushi was following Shyam during the kidnapping track
2. When Arnav and Khushi run away from the goons, the first time
3. Then of course, yesterday
No problem! Absolutely none! I love trees! Go green; save the environment!
I have finally completed a marathon reading session of Thursday's and Fridays REDUX. "Wow!" Is all I can say. So many writers, each one more talented than the other. What variations in thoughts and points of view. I am glad to be a part of you. I loved each and every one of the write ups, be it Cutebarun's "Cute Pagalpan" on the RB episode, Vi's "Box of Spices", Nia's gentle meanderings, Anna's feelings, Trin's hilarious IPK adventures with her hubby, Shaz's running commentary or Bushy's witty yet deep posts. As for Tanths and Doods, you are unbeatable, both of you! And also Kopal, Sandy, Jhalak, Koel, Supna, Sheila, Sumi, Naresh, Divya, Sharmi... I simply love reading your takes. Keep them coming. Our new talents Ritika, Shreya and others... please do continue. Let us all continue to party at REDUX
Thank you dear readers, for reading and liking my posts. I am grateful for all the feedback I am getting. Thank you for that too. I may not be able to comment to individual posts, or be able to reply to each individual comments; I'll definitely try to; but it is not always possible due to paucity of time...
