Evry week we go crazy for TRP of IPKKND. Inspite of all efforts put by us n discussing abt it 24*7 still we left wid no answers for a question -
I too searched for the answers n finally I found few. I am sharing it here in anticipation if it helps. International viewers will also get an answer Why they cannot contribute to the TRP???

| Television serial earns money from the advertisements shown during the telecast of serials. Rate of advertisements to be shown in between any serial is decided on the basis TRP of that program. Generally rate is on per second basis. Television Rating point (TRP) is a method of ascertaining which serials/channels are viewed the most. For calculating TRP of serials/channels a device is attached to the TV set of few thousand of viewers selected on random basis. | How these TV serials make money? Pretty simple. There was a time when we used to watch Mahabharata and ramayana on TV continuoulsy with a break only every half an hour or 20 minutes. What do you see now a days? Assupmption: A Serial starts at 8 and ends at 8.30. The actual content of the serials will be just 15 minutes. The rest of the 15 minutes are just ads. Consider a company has to pay the channel and the producer of the serial 50,000 INR/ Minute of the ad. Just 10 minutes of ad time earns them 5 Lakh Rupees. 3 lakh goes to the channel, 2 lakh to the producer. A serial runs 5 days a week. 5 X 2 = 10 Lakh INR is what the producer makes. 2-3 lakhs goes to the actors every week. Another 2 lakhs for lightings set up etc. At the end of the day, the serial producers easily makes minimum 4 Lakh INR/ Week. More than enough isnt it? TRP or Television rating point is the parameter used to calculate the viewrship of a program. For this a device called 'Power meter' is installed in some thousand systems that provides information on regular basis as to what they watch for a period of 30 odd days. | Hello Here I am explaining you about the earnings of a TV serial in easy words. TV serials Producers have to give money to the channel for the display of their serial. Then eaven the serial earns, It is because of advertisements displayed between the serials. The advertisers purchases the ads from the TV serial. Hence if a TV serial is good and has too many viewers, there will be more advertisers, and hence the Serial will earn. If the TV serial Company do not want to display many advertisements during the serial, It may increase the prize of advertisement, so that they have just a few advertisers with good earning. Television serial buy a time from broadcaster like Zee Tv and they use to air there program on specific time. In this time they shown adds between serial. If the serial is to popular means having big viewers then advertising rates are very high. This is the general concept of earning of any TV program.

| Television earns money from advertisement during quality program / serial runs. Based on the TRP of any serial or program, the television company increases or decreases the advertisement cost. Power meter helps to identify the overall viewers per program, thus, TV producer can manage the ads business accordingly. |
