He had always run away from her.

But he was always thinking about her, drawn towards her.

He couldn't explain it, he hated the feeling so he professed he hated her.

When he realized he was fighting a losing battle, he accepted defeat.

He went searching for her' he was faced with a shocking scene.

Why does it hurt so much?

When he got a legitimate reason to hate her, he grabbed it.

He gave her pain, hauled her over flaming coals, kept her close but drove her away emotionally.

But why does it hurt so much?

But his heart kept crying out to her, perhaps she heard those helpless cries.

She stayed'. She kept asking him why'. She pestered him'. Till one day he broke'.

His hurt, his anger, his sense of her betrayal all came tumbling out.

She tried to explain'. He listened in wonder' relief' dawning hope' no! I cannot go through it all again. He chose not to believe'. Or did he believe her? Did he want to? Was he afraid to do so?

Why! Oh! Why does it hurt so much?

He chose to go away from her' for a while' why? To think? For a breathing space? For his sanity?

She tried to stop him' reason with him' begged him for a chance to prove her innocence'

He gave her ten minutes' he wanted her to succeed. But she had been nave' she placed her trust where it shouldn't have been placed.

He left'

But why does it hurt so much?

Something about her tears pulled at him' he wavered' he fought' he succumbed.

He was turning back' towards her' when he was stopped!

Now he was helpless, he needed her, but she was far away.

And it hurt' so much' but now he didn't bother to ask why'

So when he got the chance, he told her that he loved her'.

But she sensed all wasn't well'

She set out to find him' and find him she did'

Just when he thought he wouldn't see her again' there she was before him'

She let on she knew he was in trouble' that she had been looking for him'

He forgot the question 'Why''. Now he wanted to know 'how?''

Will he ever find the answer? Does he want to know anymore...because suddenly he finds he isn't hurting anymore!
