Nice episode. Steadily stepping ahead.
Performance
I am loving Sanaya's work over the last few weeks, how the change and development in Khushi's personality and development is being shown is
Progress Points
1. Khushi & Mami Jaan understand that though Arnav is kidnapped, there's no call for ransom; so the motive is unclear
2. Khushi checks Shyam's mobile to see a message about Shyam withdrawing 5 lacs; she overhears Shyam talking about holding someone and bringing them somewhere
3. Arnav's satellite seems to be getting a bit aligned with the right orbit
Favorite Scene
Yeah I know most of the Fandom would have loved Arnav going delirious over Khushi and getting all the right memories in seemingly right perspective.
However, somehow, I LOVED the scene when Khushi got onto Shyam and his misdoings β she's somehow bringing about a balance in the emotional, the resourceful, the courageous, the passionate, and even the wise facets of Khushi.
There wasn't one scene that I liked - but a bunch of them that brought out the sheer woman-ness of Khushi. Onward from girlhood to womanhood!
I don't know if CVs are deliberately doing this in the development of Khushi's development, but it is a good, logical, and reality-based change - circumstances do change and develop one's personality, and this one has brought out her hidden potential.
Arnav & Khushi
The last episode was about Khushi's situation when she spotted Arnav on the monitor; today it's about Arnav's state when he dreams of Khushi.
Arnav has often dreamed of Khushi. Has his dreams of her been as real as they were this time? Has his heart spoken his truth to Arnav through his dreams? Arnav has often woken up calling out her name and then being surprised that he did so. Has he never listened to his heart before, or even now?
The Dream
Arnav blinks out of the sleep and sees Khushi before him. His first reaction is a smile, before his senses become awaken to the fact that Khushi could not possible be there before him. He calls her name and attempts to reach out his hand to touch her, but finds himself bound to the chair.
Khushi looks at his bound hands with tears in her eyes. Arnav wonders aloud if she really is there, and remarks that he thought he was dreaming.
She sees that he cannot reach out to her, though he wants to, but she can. She reaches out to him, to touch his face, and moves up to meet her hand. She tells him that it is a dream, and the image disappears.
The moment she disappears, Arnav really, actually, wakes up to his surroundings. He becomes more aware of his imprisonment. His senses return as he realizes that he was dreaming about Khushi being there, and he clutches in his fist a pom-pom of Khushi's clothes that's got into his hand when he pulled the passport and ticket from her hands.
Arnav goes into a stream of memories where Khushi was with him at the Airport, holding onto him, pleading him to not leave, he remembered the times she was there when he needed her - when he was unwell and when she did not let him fall, he remembered how he'd broken the picture of them which she'd loved, how he'd been harsh with her. Each memory hurt him and he wept.
From Subconscious to Conscious
This is so true of his current scene in their relationship.
Arnav has recently become aware that though he is held captive and his hands are bound, though he sits alone and in dark, though he is in a position where he is weak and his freedom is limited by strangers, he's come face to face with his own heart. When everything else falls away, truth stands - the truth of his heart is that he loves Khushi completely.
If it is interesting that the first and only thing that Arnav truly needs (and not just desires) is Khushi - it is equally interesting how he's held himself bound and away from his one true need. Of course he's not aware that his own choices have led him to be bound.
He has also become aware that in this state, Khushi is with him. Contrary to his belief, he's seeing a Khushi who works opposite to how he thought she should have. He is seeing that in his need, his loneliness, his weakness, his confusion - Khushi is there with him. Though his initial reaction is a smile, yet as he wakes up more, he wonders if it could be possible. Is Khushi really with him?
He joy and relief are palpable when he sees Khushi before him. This is more than what he could have hoped for in his current situation - Khushi to be with him. There is such a yearning to know she is real, when he reaches out to touch her.
It is interesting to note the image of Khushi that his subconscious mind shows him. Khushi does not appear to him according to his belief - but according to Khushi's reality. If his belief that Khushi was cheap and vile, Khushi should have appeared to him as having a wicked smile or a sneer on her face. If the image was simply his love hoping for a favorable response from her, Khushi should have appeared to him with a look of love (as in shy, coy, romantic) on her face. But no! The Khushi that he sees is one as she is in reality - Khushi who cares for him, who is worried for him, who loves him, who is there with him, who yearns for him, who is hurt to see him bound, whose topmost concern is Arnav.
He wants to know if this Khushi that he sees and her care for him is real. There have been many times in recent past where Khushi has proved herself to be on the list of people who have stood with him. Each time, Arnav has been left wondering if Khushi was being real with him. For if this is real, then it clashes with what he saw and heard and believed. He has often looked at her with same perplexity, the same question - are you real?
The progress is that this time, he attempted to reach out to see if she was real. He's rarely given her the chance, but this time, he reached out. Yes, he was still bound and could not reach her. But she was still there and he saw it.
Arnav sees Khushi's tears and believes that Khushi is there and that he thought it was a dream.
Arnav probably does not know consciously, but sub-consciously, he knows that Khushi sees that he is bound and he cannot break these bonds himself. Someone will need to set him free. Just as he hid into a brass utensil as a child for his sister's sake and had to be cut out of it, he's again gone and got himself bound, and someone needs to free him.
Because of his bonds, Arnav is not free to believe Khushi's reality, he is not free to reach her, he is not free to give her his love.
Another interesting bit coming to reality is that sub-consciously he is aware that Khushi is reaching out to him. Her attempts to reach out to him have not gone entirely unnoticed. They are registered somewhere in his mind, though he has been at a constant effort to suppress them. Although he is still bound and still unable to believe her reality, yet, he yearns that she'd be real.
When Khushi reaches out to touch his face, he tilts his head to meet her hand. The comfort of feeling her hand is more relief - it seems to him that she is real, she touched him. Khushi's efforts have touched Arnav. He wanted her to make those efforts to prove herself innocent in his eyes. He was bothered that initially she had refused to give him an explanation (he'd questioned her - you didn't feel it necessary to explain it to me?)
So when she made those efforts, probably the sheer sincerity of her efforts and her pleadings have touched him. He's wanted that and he's got that.
Yet, somewhere deep within he knows - as Khushi states - this is a dream. Does he know subconsciously that he's dreaming? Or does he feel that his relationship with Khushi has been like a dream - which would one day be over? And then, she'd be gone, and he'd be alone holding on to her memories and heart full of pain and regret.
Well, the good thing is that dreams (or nightmares) come to an end. So, one has a chance to wake up and make good of the daylight.
The moment Arnav fully wakes up and sees he's still captive - and worse, Khushi wasn't really there, he closes his fist over a pom-pom that came with him when he pulled his ticket from her hand. He holds onto that and his mind recollects the memories when Khushi was with him - the Airport, her pleadings, the time when he was unwell, the time she held his hand and saved him from falling down, and all the times when he was harsh to her. Pain, tears, and regret.
One may feel that Arnav was sorry for all that he's done. And one would be right in feeling so. Arnav is in fact sorry.
Another interesting thing to note here is (or probably, it's because I've the episode 4 times now and have had too much thinking on it) that all his memories were from the time when Khushi was caring towards him and he was harsh with her after their wedding. None of his regrets reached as far back as to their wedding day and what happened back then - that is, how he married her.
Hmm... he seems to be oscillating between believing her to be real only as far as being good to him after they got married, and believing her to be vile. It doesn't yet look like he believes her story to be true. It seems (at least to me) he does feel (and wants to believe) that Khushi cares for him, but this is a change that has come only after they got married. So the fact that she was in league with Shyam still stays rooted.
His regret seem to be along the lines - she pleaded with me to stay with her, she cared for me, she kept me from falling, and I was mean to her.
His regret is not along the lines - she was innocent and I didn't believe her, didn't care to ask her, pushed her into marrying me for six months, brought her dishonor from family and society, and thereby wrecked her life.
His fix for the problem seems to be along the lines - okay! We made a bad start, but we needn't keep it bad. We can choose to make good of this relationship. I love her and apparently now she cares for me too. Perhaps, this can work.
His fix is not along the lines - I made a huge mistake when I misunderstood her. I need to be forgiven, redeem her honor, and trust her.
Basically Arnav
Well, picture yourself in the situation he is for a moment. What would be the things on your mind for the first few hours? What would change as the hours became days?
A man (or a woman) may begin by working his mind about what is going on and why is it going on.
Arnav may have initially wondered about who these people were and what did they want with him. The first probable explanation seems to be a kidnapping for ransom. We don't know this because we only saw Arnav after the Airport when it had been about 4 days.
By that time, the man may begin to worry about his household, possible danger to his family and loved ones, loss of hard-earned money - which may eventually impact his family.
Not because of his worries, but perhaps because of developments in RM, Arnav was allowed a call home and he was enabled a chance to set his worries to rest, at least in making his family assured of his safety, even if not getting completely off the hook.
Basic physical needs such as food and health come into picture.
Arnav tried another call home, but failed as his strength failed him. Though the men are not allowed to harm him, they're definitely not caretakers. Arnav weakens.
Down to bare basics.
At such a time when Arnav is probably thinking someone wants him dead for no apparent reason β although we don't know if Arnav is aware of who and why he's been kidnapped.
Arnav is about his heart now. Turns out the basic need is not food, health, money, family - it is Khushi. Whether or not Arnav knows this, his soul knows that Khushi is all about him. She is all his heart yearns for.
Arnav is very simple man at heart. He's the master of AR chain of industries, man of the house at RM, the doer, the controller, the caregiver, the shoulders that carry responsibility. This man would probably be perfectly happy staying in a GH-like house with bare minimum (compared to his RM) and be just as content (complete with his pride and ego intact) - if his Khushi was with him.
Points to be notes, my lord!
1. Arnav easily led by strangers β those he should not trust
2. Arnav bound and tied because he put his trust in the wrong place
3. Arnav's heart attempts to guide him, but he uses emotions where he should use rationale, and vice-versa
4. Is Arnav being over-confident? He may be good with his brain, but does he work well with his heart?
5. Even though it seems that Shyam's tied Arnav's hands (symbolically and physically), actually, it is Arnav's own choices that have led him to be made captive and held captive. He has allowed Shyam to use his (Arnav's emotions) against himself. Arnav has dealt with the whole situation rather emotionally, all the while thinking (because he's used to think of himself likewise) that he was using his mind and he would not let his heart misguide him.
His decision to marry Khushi, though on the face of it looked like a 'brain' thing, was more of an emotional decision - that is, a decision based on emotions. A decision should be made thoughtfully, having seen the pros and cons, having weighed all sides or at least all visible sides, and the understanding that one may not know it all.
Oh well! If all was well, we wouldn't have a story now, would we! So, we enjoy the story because Arnav and Khushi fall and get up again, fail and carry on, made choices bad and good, give in to circumstances and stand up to them, all along the way they grow, they realize that all things may change and their love still remains a constant.
6. The issue now is NOT whether Arnav knows the truth or not. He knows it. The issue is - does he trust the truth or not. He does not.
So Fandom, stop praying for Arnav finding out the truth following kidnap & start praying for Arnav to build trust!
Mission: Find Mr. Impossible
1. The tapes look tampered with. It is clear that Arnav was apprehended by a few men, who stopped him from going for his flight, and brought him out of the airport.
2. Khushi almost managed to get caught but the duo came home safe.
3. Khushi realizes that Arnav is probably kidnapped and remembers that the detective mentioned a ransom. Mami Jaan prepares for the ransom, but Khushi points out that as of five days, there hasn't been a ransom call. Mami Jaan agrees and then wonders what the motive of the kidnappers might be,
4. Mami Jaan keeps her eyes on the Dhobi, but Khushi points out that this may be probable. However, Mami Jaan makes her aware that kidnappers could have any motive, and if motive is clear, solving the case was easier.
Khushi sees Shyam during this enlightenment via Mami Jaan and follows him.
5. Khushi wonders if Shyam has a hand in Arnav's disappearance and discovers that Shyam withdrew 5 lacs from the bank. She has to rush from the room when Shyam emerges from his bathroom, but she overhears his conversation about him wanting to keep someone held and bring them somewhere at eight in the night.
Now, these are some things on which Khushi can have little or no help from Mami Jaan.
Others
1. Akash and Payal are SO oblivious to the world. They're blissfully spinning a yarn of their own - where it starts and where it ends and what it's about - they know it better, for we certainly do not!
2. Mami Jaan is SO cool! The moment she heard about kidnappers looking for 'handsome' er.. ransom, she got down all her jewelery and bank pass book - ready to give it all up for Arnav bitwa. The coolest bit was that she was so cool about selling off her jewelery and emptying her bank account.
3. Mami Jaan isn't so wrong to keep her eyes on the Dhobi. It is not uncommon that regular visitors at home to be involved in such crimes.
4. Masala Mama off again! Has he left?
5. Where did Shyam get 5 lacs? Didn't ASR cut off his money supply? The creep had to be dependent on Anjali for getting a 75 k watch.
Is making plans of keeping 'someone' held and getting 'someone' 'somewhere' at eight in the night.
On the Lighter Side
1. Arnav got hold of Khushi's pom-pom when he pulled the ticket out of her hand. Ah! So this is why Khushi wore a full-sleeved shirt that day. After all, Arnav could not have successfully pulled off a pom-pom from her shoulder while trying to get the ticket off her hand. Brilliant!
2. Ah! Shyam takes less time than ASR to take a bath. Khushi barely read a message on his phone and the bath was done. Men!
Precap

On the Side
Satellite Arnav in Orbit
Satellite Arnav reboots. Good start!
The first message he acknowledges is the one from planet Khushi - his home planet. Good going!
The first response is positive and encouraging. He projects 'joy' and 'relief' when he feels Khushi is really there, and this is not a holographic manifestation. Positive Signals.
When Khushi reaches out to him, he does not deny or flinch; instead he turns his head to meet her hand - projects 'joy' and 'love' when she touches his surface. Very good progress!
When Khushi sends the message that she is in fact a hologram, projects 'mild confusion' and then 'acute disappointment' as the hologram disappears - thereby latching on to a pom-pom obtained in one of the previous contacts. Signs of life!
Researches and extracts scraps files from unused disc; Attempts to order the memory in the correct perspective. Signs of life confirmed!
Well, scientists, so far this minor experiment of bringing satellite Arnav back into its orbit is successful. After it was hit off orbit about more than 3 months back, it has taken considerable amount of effort, perseverance and diligence on your part to see this satellite back safely in its orbit. Hopefully, satellite Arnav is well on his way to orbiting Khushi as he originally meant to do.
However, seeing the past experience of this satellite, let us not be complacent. As of now this satellite seems to be coming back in orbit and might stay given the current attraction level ... er ... magnetic field of the orbit.
If we focus our telescopes a beyond, we can see already within range of the satellite a meteor on a collision course with satellite Arnav - this meteor was called Tricky Will after the mad scientist who first spotted it β Shyam Manohar Jha (SMJ) - who's license has been revoked (following Satyamev Jayate's (SMJ, curiously!) advice) - however, his activities are still unhindered.
The only counter to this mad scientist is satellite Arnav, but then satellite Arnav must be strongly focused on his own orbit.
In the coming weeks, it will be an interesting study to observe how satellite Arnav reacts to the coming collision with meteor Tricky Will. The collision is unavoidable - however, what remains to be seen is if satellite Arnav will use his findings from the recent de-orbitment and re-orbitment, and implement its findings to out-maneuver the meteor, or will it fall prey to a yet another de-orbitment.
It is predicted by some scientists that if satellite Arnav is again hit out of orbit by the Tricky Will meteor, the repercussions may have a deep impact on satellite Arnav who may perceive planet Khushi to be in league with the mad scientist.
As result of this collision and satellite Arnav's de-orbitment (if the course of action is such) planet Khushi might move her virtual location away from satellite Arnav even if she stays in the RM galaxy. If such happens, satellite Arnav might find it challenging to find his orbit again, and may take to roaming about the galaxy following planet Khushi and attempting contact in earnest and in permanence.
Of course, a lot depends on how satellite Arnav reacts to collision with the oncoming meteor, and future antics of the mad scientist, which of course might intensify if the current evil plan fails - which it looks like it has.
