Because it is quite clear that mentally Barun has moved on from IPKKND.

We the fans want him back, but maybe he doesn't want to, and maybe may not continue, even though he will come for short periods... it is all so annoying and so confusing.

OK, for me it sounded as if he is that down to earth humble guy, who was NOT giving any credit to his enacting the role of ASR and he is saying that fans love the character ASR, so they would have liked any actor who ever would have played the role the same way they love him now. So he was basically saying that its the character ASR thats great not my acting and he was referring to past tense (fans would have loved any one enacting that role) NOT to future hinting some one else may play.
