Frankly, if he does quit the show I don't see him doing very well in movies. He is popular now and got noticed by so many ppl due to his character in ippknd. I have seen his previous show before and he didn't affect me the way he does now and i infact forgot that he even exits. When I saw the 1st promo of ipkknd, I couldn't even recognise that it is the same guy who played shravan. I'm not saying that he wasn't as good in bhph, in fact one reason why maybe I couln't recognize him was because shravan was such a mad person and ASR is so sober, that i couldn't even recognise him and which of course shows his versatility as an actor.
And daily soaps are very different from movies. We like barun as ASR and we want to see him everyday and we are so affected by him because we see him everyday and he has become a part if our lives. But we may not like him the same in another character and may even lose touch with him when he goes to bollywood. We all like him coz we watch the serial but what portion of the Bollywood audiences watch dramas? Will barun's character in his movie affect them the way ASR affected us?
And from the trend that I have noticed, most popular Bollywood stars especially the younger ones are popular only because their first movie/role made an impact and ppl liked them. Those whose first movie did not have the same impact never really manage to make it big as these stars.
I'm not saying that he shouldn't try Bollywood or would fail as a Bollywood star. No one knows, he may become the next SRK. but all I'm saying that he would not be so foolish to quit at this crucial stage and possibly lose his stardom and maybe some fans.
