Hi Folks...I realized today how long it has been since I have been out of India...I had forgotten about how marriages in middle class and lower middle class families can be a dreadful experience...where people dont even think twice about being extremely uncouth, and mean and shameless...I have no words to describe how distasteful I find the entire thing...The ugly side of life...🤢
Any way...on the good side...I really loved Khushi today...First of all she looked gorgeous...yes, yes, I know...even with THAT hairstyle...but the attire was really nice and the hair style did not look too bad with that dress...After a long time I loved her look...so thumbs up for that!!👍🏼
⭐️
Then I really felt bad for her...when she goes into the room...having seen an Arnie who wasn't angry or upset in last few days...to see Mr. Hyde coming back again...She senses it but is at a total loss about what happened that upset him...Poor girl tried to ask him so nicely...so gently what upset him..and he wouldnt say anything...This is totaly unfair for someone to be in a position to know that someone ust hates them but they don't know why...Ask any child who senses that a teacher hates them or an employee who senses that their boss hates them and they just don't know why...They go over what was the last thing they did that made the other person have this mood swing...They try to justify...to no avail...poor girl...she deserves better...
Barun did very well in this scene too...the body laguage just perfect...not looking into her eyes...being upset at another discovery of a relationship that in his mind existed and is nothing but beyond disgusting for him...
The whole scene about Khushi trying to overcompensate...and Arnie getting highly irritated with that was totally in character...He was upset ( I think) because he did not want his wife or any of the ladkiwalas to be looking down in front of the very unreasonable relatives of the groom. And a groom who thinks he just can not speak up...That way Arnie is a very modern man to expect better from the so called traditional good boys...I liked it!!!
The unreasonableness of teh grrom side was stretched a bit too much...That way this was a filler episode...ASR characterzation shined as usual...Khushi was very reasonable in her reaction and very much in character with her attempts to overcompensate...
Overall, a decent filler...
Tomorrow should be more fun with the wedding dance...Hmm...not sure if this is a dance...or Arnie being upset ...He is animated in both situations...😆😆😆
Long term story ki ummeed ko to koi fayada nahi hei...But this episode did accomplish another chapter in Arnies emotional jounrey of hating Khushi (even if it is built on feeblest of plots)...hopefully to trace his steps back again in near future...
Thats all for today folks...!!

Sush & SG's 🤗

Decent episode; more lessons on middle class life for ASR. His hurt was evident; he had crushed her dreams and he realizes how much he has hurt her. Like every spouse he blames her when he doesn't find his stuff😆 Happened when the car parts were stolen and today when he couldn't find the file. Like he did on both occasions; very soon he will realize how wrong he was...

The fond "pagal hai" turns into anger, uncontrollable rage when he sees the gift wrap...At this point I wasn't sure if its jealous rage or just safeguarding his sister's interests but that was clear as the events unfolded...

Is he ready to go beyond the terrace scene? He is smart enough to connect the dots on the employee who was getting married but not smart enough to recall Khush's mangetar was Shyam...😕 Khushi realized the transition from Arnav to ASR & she concludes it is about overhearing her lie. The aggression was similar to the initial days of their marriage; all the progress they seem to have made lost. She pleads to know the reason but like always he pushes her away...

If there is one thing ASR understands; it is when a girl's rishta is about to break. He sympathizes with Preeto; his decisions always dictated by Anjali's experiences. Anjali is the only girl he has really known and he relates to all events and sees it through her eyes. He realizes instantly that Khush's bak-bak could resullt in Preeto's in-laws getting annoyed & maybe calling off the wedding. His intention wasn't to embarrass Khushi; he knew she wasn't wrong...so the weak, apologetic look to Khushi & a "koshish karunga" But she doesn't buy it; rightly so, he has shown her no respect...

He knows how to get to the bottom of it; hit them where it hurts the most. Yes, the promotion and the job they were bragging about. Once that was gone, they would toe the line...If only he could figure out his own problems...😆 It takes a decisive man to control such a situation & he came through for the Gupta's👏👏👏

This situation was created for Khushi to see the goodness in him. In fact, the entire G'trip was for Khushi to fall in love, understand the workings of the mighty ASR...She is way too hurt to see anything good in him but they created situations where he first declares he is the damaad, helps the G's and now he helps her friend Preeto and declares to people that matter to her, that she is indeed his wife.

This he does despite finding out that she has saved the gift wrap from Shyam... This makes me want to conclude this is slowly turning into jealous rage...Yes, he did it for his sister initially but now the jealousy is taking over...He is upset that she loves somebody else...He repeated that he didn't want to do anything he would regret...The promo I think is a serious one; it is then that he realizes that he has pushed it too far... She is now scared for her life...😲 Pls, let it not be OTT!

I truly feel sorry for this girl; where will she go from here? He announces to the world but to her he declares he doesn't want her for more than 6 months... Tough situation for any girl to be in... Will she take him on a guilt trip? We have seen on several occasions, it is the only thing that works...He was sensitive to Payal's issue, now its Preeto...A guilt trip is what it takes to get the truth out...

Given the circumstances; we can find excuses for his behavior but there is no excuse for not telling her the reason behind the hasty wedding... Like he expects from his employees, can we also expect a fearless, confident ASR who can speak his mind?

I liked this episode, it was a decent filler to start the week off and thankfully there was no comedy. The comedy would have killed this episode considering how we left off Friday.
I loved Arnav's guilt as he thought back to how he crushed Khushi's dreams and realized how quick he was to misunderstand her when he couldn't find his missing file. That didn't last though just when he was starting to come around there was something to trigger his anger. All those images he had blocked out of his mind returned when he saw the gift wrap. This is good though, we need build up to Arnav revealing the truth to Khushi not to mention the RTR which continues to grow for Arnav
I felt bad for Khushi, you are right Sush she has come to know his moods but sadly still has no idea why he is so angry at her. When I saw this the promo started to make sense and I took it to mean this wasn't meant to be comedy at least not to Khushi who had reason to fear given Arnav did say leave before he did something bad.
I liked the scene between her and Bua who sensed something happened between Khushi and Arnav but like always Khushi keeps her troubles, pain to herself
The groom's aunt and uncle grated my nerves, couldn't stand them but sadly what was shown is realistic to what happens in real life.
It did seem hypocritical of Arnav to be telling the groom about having respect for his wife when Arnav shows very little for Khushi but these words will come back to haunt Arnav when he finally learns of Khushi's innocence. When the truth comes out there will be no stopping Arnav who will go out of his ay to make it up to Khushi and give her the love and respect she deserves.

A Monday episode that has opened up a can of worms. Which ones are the CVs going to let loose and which ones are going back in the can? Things are getting serious here!!!

1) The Shyam thing props up again. Good! The saving of wrapping papers for re-use. Very much a middle class thing to do. 👍🏼 Liked the little detail. Arnie's guilt from the Friday scene and later of wrongly blaming Khushi for the missing files just evaporates into a major ASR blow-up. How many times does this need to happen before Arnie has his eureka moment? Khushi knowing immediately he has the ASR-mad on.. 👍🏼. She would have got all the answers she wanted and more, if Garima hadn't interrupted. [*Head-Desk, Face-Palm, Satyanash, Beda Gark et all*].

Director's touch: ASR putting his vest on, Arnie putting his ASR armor on.. Good one...👏

2) He so did not want to lose it at GH. He kept asking her to get away from him or he would end up doing something bad. RESPECT for the Gupta Family, not enough for Khushi yet. A recurring theme in this episode and I have feeling for the week.

Pehle Bachchat , phir izzat. Bachchat ho chalega, Izzat na ho, bilkul nahi chalega.

The storytelling is back...at least the kind I get.

3) ASR's God Complex continues to be built up. Of course, the groom turns out to be one of his minions and of course, his plan is giving the groom the "incentive" - the ASR Kind - to stand up for himself and his wife rather than deal with the peripherals (the mama and mami). All he had to do was introduce himself as not just Arnav but as ASR and that would have shut the mama-mami up. But that wouldn't solve the problem.

BTW, Why does everyone in IPKKND have to be an orphan? The groom had a mama and mami...

4) Role reversal: Khushi loses patience with the baraati and lets out a sugar coated sarcastic comment while Arnie plays the docile ladki wala. Khushi has just had enough with over-bearing people, while Arnie has learnt discretion all the while knowing that he is handling things in his own way.

5) Arnie disses Khushi in front of the crowd but gives the groom raag-patti about respecting wife and wife's family. There is definitely more to this scene than just Arnie not standing up for his wife but I am too tired today to think about it. Someone please tell me. 😕

6) Khushi continues to see that not only are Anjali and rest of family (RM and GH) above her on the people-ASR-cares-for list, but now apparently, random families from the neighborhood and their in-laws are too. Khushi is also collecting enough fodder to think about for when it's time to forgive him. Eventually…not too soon. She is seeing that he cares, he is fair and he goes about fixing things without making a big hullaboo out of it.

7) Oh, he's had enough of the Gupta house, hasn't he? He was just ready to leave, without Khushi?? 😲

Very interested to see if the ASR-saves-the rishta thing leads to a conversation between Buaji and Arnie. So many possibilities there. They can touch on both or either of the Payal and Khushi's broken rishtas that could trigger some of Arnie's dormant brain cells (yeah, right!!) or give him food for thought on what happens after the 6 months to everyone in the GH. I don't think he has ever thought about that at all. I don't think he has even thought about what would happen to PayAsh after the 6 months thing. Again, the izzat thing.

The Shyam thing could lead to other discoveries for Arnie boy.

The look Arnie gave Preeto just before the phone call to Aman. Did that remind him of Anji all those years ago??

Essentially, every single ball that is involved in this convulted storyline has been put up in the air. How interesting!! Excited to see which ones are picked to go to the next storyline and which ones are allowed to rest again...At the very least, it is resulting in an ASR who is ready to erupt...Now where does the promo fit in all this...😳

Hello Sush & SG's

Well knit episode today with perfect FB's and background music. The elephant in the room cannot be ignored and we saw steps today to address that. Both Sanaya and Barun brought their A game and look rested. The episode did belong to ASR.

Arnav enters the room and remembers Khushi's words and regrets hurting/squashing Khushi's dreams. In the FB sequence too, he remembers only scenes that involved him and Khushi, no rememberance of the terrace sceen. He is at a point of almost dismissing the wrapping paper as one of Khushi's quirkiness when the words he reads immediately switches him to ASR mode gets him boiling mad. Barun was brilliant in the quick change of emotions. Khushi realizes the change in Arnav even before he turns completely - very nice touch as to how well she is attuned to him.

Arnav in spite of the anger behaves very respectfully to Garima and Buaji, a change that would not have happened if he did not stay @ the GH and understood them. He is about to leave the GH when the conversation amongst the ladies diverts his attention.

Here is where I loved the ASR sequence of actions - comes out finds the groom is his employee, stops Khushi from aggravating the situation, one look at the bride (was he reminded of Anjali's wedding?) and immediately terminates the employment. Fantastic contrast between A&K, Khushi attempting diffuse the tension in her own talkative way while Arnav gets straight to business. I also liked the way he introduced himself - not as SIL but Khushi's husband.

The last statement about respecting one's wife is as conflicted as he is now. He wants to hate her but cannot as he loves her. He talks about respecting but he is the one that hurts her the most.

Don't know how many people recall this - but the one thing we were promised when this whole MU track began was that it would not be a long drawn out, endless spaghetti strand that we keep slurping - with no end in sight.

Fast forward to today - we're coming up on the 3 month anniversary of this ridiculous plotline, and the CV's are still layering icing onto this half-baked, mold ridden cake.

1. ASR feels bad due to the pain in his wife's eyes. BS's portrayal causes panic in the CV's dimly lit, marijuana laced, windowless basement office. 😲

"Damn - we can't have a reconciliation, or even a softening on his part - dont you understand? THE SHOW WILL END AND WE'LL ALL LOSE OUR JOBS AND OUR KIDS WILL BE BEGGING ON THE STREETS! Get 'em to fight again - quick! Get the snake back in somehow.

Um - the story is now in GH, not RM.

Who cares, get a used Kleenex or tissue, or gift wrap or SOMETHING with his name on it, that'll drive ASR up the wall! Mission accomplished!

Yes, SIR!

Phew, that was close!"

2. OTT Khushi wasn't enough - so we get OTT neighbors-in-law, absolutely phree. Rich = bad, middle class = good, all the arrangements suck - we get it already. 😡You don't have to beat us over the head with it. Of course, the groom is a limp dishrag who can't say boo to a goose, so pained, constipated looks from everyone are the order of the day. 😕

3. Damaadji is sulking in his room. Or is he packing his bag to bolt the nuthouse? His "get-me-the-hell-out-of-here" tone while calling for his car sounded pretty desperate. 😆 But that is put on hold for yet another KISA (Knight in Shining armor) rescue, when he overhears OTT neighborette-in-law dissing the wedding gifts.

Quick checklist of next steps...

1. Step out of cave and recognize the groom as an employee - check
2. Acknowledge self as KSR's husband - check check (millions of viewers swoon)
3. Slap the wife down publicly - check check check (the hissing sound that follows is the air being let out of the same viewers) 🥺

And Aman confirms that the groom IS an AR indentured servant..er, employee - so everything's easy as pie after that.

4. You're FIRED - Trump style. Umm..why, sir? Coz you don't respect your wife and her family. Holy cow, that's the yardstick for employment these days? Lawsuit much?

And finally, if that really was the key criteria for employment - why the EFF are YOU and AKASH BITWA not out on the streets yet? Phatti Saari and Khoon Bhari Taang. Ring a bell?

5. CV's - a piece of advice from an experienced half marathon runner. When I come up on that 13 mile mark, if I found out that some practical joker moved the finish line by another couple miles for whatever reason, I'd draw and quarter his ass and then proceed to dance on the entrails.

You may want to draw parallels from that as you keep moving out the date for clearing this infernal MU. Just saying.

PS: Just a quick note that due to some significant changes at work - won't be able to post regularly for the next few weeks. I'll still be around everyday to kibbitz on the epi (the 'pective is too deeply ingrained to detox completely 😉

Hello!!

A nicely drawn episode. I think the theme *and I really hope* from now on is "foreshadow" of how things will turn once the truth is revealed on both sides. He feels the guilt and jealousy now, what will happen to him the day he realizes his entire belief system was misinterpreted. The guilt and anger will eat him alive. There is no way in hell Shyam will survive once Arnav knows the truth, his first mission will be to give Shyam a push albeit not one that will knock Anjali off her high horse *figuratively*, then he will focus on just Khushi and doing whatever it takes to win her back, even if that means sepation. I am even more confident after today that the lover in Arnav will surpass the brother in Arnav when time comes, but Khushi will make him chose the brother in him when Anjhali will make him choose.

He really can't take anyone else insulting her, it took a lot out of him to stay quiet and even more to face her, he couldn't look her in the eyes after he had to "mock" quiet her. The respect quo, big big hint, he already respects her family, he'll dote on them once things are normal but she will have an entirely different place, as high as Anjali but obviously a much more special one.

So with the ME scheduled for the 12th, that leaves us with this week's promo, I agree with Sari here, its about him being hurt on how much she doesn't trust him. He can't stand it when she moves away from him, whether its the kiss scene, the 200th episode after the mandir or the one where he accidentally shut the door on her hand, he always gets hurt when she retreats and for her to think he might kill her, that's a low blow even for mighty ASR.

I am hopeful that the story will move forward now that the ME has been scheduled. It looks like the big bang will come in time after the IPL. fair enough, the TRP's haven't gone drastically down, they're maintaining it and if this helps raise them after the IPL, then so be it, its their call and chances are it will be an excellent one. Just as long as its promoted well.

Hello Sush and the spice gals, I thought the Monday epi was not too bad. Nothing distinctive there but these days not too bad translates to good with IPKKND.

I liked the first bit aboutArnav thinking that Khushi was somehow responsible for the missing file. It showed his mistrust of her runs deep and I thought that was staying true to character for him. It also brought the desolate thought that this MU is likely to deepen before it'll get cleared if ever but I am trying to ignore that line of thinking.

The angry ASR was back and that is certainly reason to rejoice because the MU is all about ASR; Arnav has nothing to do with it.

Preeto's in laws and their attitudes, prejudices and misbehavior: I thought the treatment there was a tad OTT and in your face though have read of enough real life stories to know that such people do exist in real life.

I thought Khushi's behavior continued on the mildly OTT vein and while I was certainly rooting for someone to give it back to those samdhis from hell her arguments and justifications seemed somewhat weird.

The blink and you'll miss it confrontation between the leads where Khushi thinks he's upset about the stories she had to tell her friends about their wedding was really well done. But they are destined to have their conversations interrupted- if it's not Anjali it's someone else. although have to defend GH in that a wedding backdrop can hardly provide moments of privacy.

I liked the scene where ASR comes to speak with Preeto's in laws. He's still seeing red as far as Khushi is concerned but gets pissed off when they speak poorly of her. Again that's vintage ASR- he can hurt Khushi all he wants but dare anybody else try that. Loved how he said Koshish karoonga and introduced himself as Arnav Khushi's husband. Small but very nicely done touches by the CVs.

Lessons to the groom about respecting the wife while you go ahead and admonish/insult yours in full public view- is hypocrisy part of your dictionary ASR??

Interesting talk on skills required to work at AR- I was particularly intrigued by skill 3: Ability to confidently say what you want to. I thought at AR you were supposed to do what ASR said and he brooked no opposition/alternative thinking. Time to introduce hypocrisy into your vocabulary ASR?

And how did he even judge that the guy did not possess the desire to work?? My work genes were all ready to take up a massive protest on that one.

That the groom works at AR was a bit too convenient and contrived me thinks but I guess that's creative license to show Arnav's good side to Khushi?

Pre-cap scare: not much of a scare as by the end of this track Arnav would have passed the asli zindagi test magna cum laude. Presumably this is to make the redemption journey less arduous?

I like where this track is now- ASR reminded of the MU, Khushi confused about his anger, wanting answers and not willing to back off. I hope the CVs build some traction here and we somehow move towards the confrontation on the MU.

And somewhere in all of this we get to see that much awaited hug. It's the 1st of May and we are barely a month away from the first anniversary of this love story where the much in love married leads have never even shared a hug!! For crying out loud...

Here is a song dedicated to Khushi...

"Tell Me Why"

I took a chance, I took a shot
And you might think i'm bulletproof, but i'm not
You took a swing, I took it hard
And down here from the ground I see who you are

I'm sick and tired of your attitude
I'm feeling like I don't know you
You tell me that you love me then you cut me down
And I need you like a heartbeat

But you know you got a mean streak
Makes me run for cover when you're around
And here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me why..

Yet again, amazing post and very true about marriages in India. While I find the arrange marriage equation fascinating, the family circles and issues involved in it is so different from what we see here in US. The money, status, jewelry, ets etc is still a concern when two people marry. On another note, the pic in the end is beautiful!
Will update in detail when I get the luxur of time :P
