Preeto and family have invited the Guptas because they are their neighbours (Guptas are not their relatives)... they probably didn't want to go to the extent of inviting every relative of a neighbour's family separately. They might be more concerned about inviting their own relatives and friends and not that of a neighbour..

But to expect Preeto's mother to go to a neighbour's daughter's house and invite her might be too much... I feel the only relation between Guptas and Preeto family is that they are neighbours... and Preeto is Khushi's friend.. but it need not imply that Preeto must also be Payal's friend...
