Sam,

Lovely topic. No, it is not a run of the mill rant. What you said, cannot be said enough. Everyday, the episodes are drawing out these from all of us viewers. It cannot be coincidence or that, we just feel like making a negative post.
I agree with everything you have said and every line. I am reusing excerpts from an earlier post of mine, to present my thoughts here. That post unfortunately got deleted so shamelessly resuing it here. Sorry for the long rant.
For the first 6-8 months, it was beautiful ride. Even the corny scenes were lapped up by us / me, only because of BS and SI. Even the most ridiculous scenes were swept under the rug, because, the execution was not flawed. Comedy even if it is corny can be pulled off, if the timing and execution and placement is right. That is what they had.

Love, Arrogance, Ego, Sacrifice, Intensity, Passion, Comedy, Bonding, Revelations, Reflections and Rabba Ves were all place and executed when and where they were supposed to. Nothing seemed out of place. We forgot about actors and BS was ASR and SI was Kushi.

Now they are trying to cram love, arrogance, angst, revenge, comedy, OTT, passion, bonding, Ego, fake love, faltu Rabba Ves all in a 20 minutes span. Hence, placement is horrible and execution is without heart and soul. Worst of all, chemistry is not sizzling. Previously, when ASR and Kushi were phsyically far from each other, (the corridor at Gupta's house) their eye lock and Rabba Vey seemed like they were making passionate love.

Now they are physically closer (geogrpahically only) and yet the Rabba Veys lack spark and intensity. BS and SI look tired and all the hard work they are doing is showing which is an insult the CVs are doing to them. Since past 4-6 weeks, only BS and SI are getting maximun screen space. As their fans we are happy. But it is not fair. They are over worked. Show has several character. But the PH is only making BS and SI fill the screen space which means they are the ones who are putting in 16-18 hour days. Are all the other characters and actors working on as needed basis (guest roles) so PH can save money. Why else would the main villain disappear for days together. How many scenes did Abbhas as Shyam get since MU. It can hardly fill one episode. Is this fair to BS and SI. Overworking them so much? Ofcourse the chemistry is dying.

Biggest joke is what CVs have done with the so called "villain". Every story needs point of conflict. Every serial that is out there has not one, but hundreds of scheming villains all out to make a martyr out of the female lead. This show has one villain. And even then, even the lone villain, what ever he does is more buffonery than villainous.

He is not to be seen days together. Has he become a paying guest somewhere else? Will we see a second forced black mail marriage and Kushi will get a souten? Zabardast Twist. No?

A villain, who is a pervert and a leech, has the objects of his desire presented to him in a silver platter and all he does is hold hands as if he is going to do palm reading?

Even in a fictional world, when CVs create something, and sell it and draw an audience who appreciate their work, the minimum the CVs can do is to keep the story telling consistent, palpable and not insult, the talents of the actors, or the sensibilities of the viewers. If I like regressive stories that are dished out in almost all other serials, I would go watch them. IPKKND was never going to be that. Hence it has a unique fan base. That was the fan base CVs were targeting. They gave this fan base what they wanted and some more for 6-8 months. Those creatives are either gone or the creativity is gone.

If it were the same CVs, still writing, then I cannot believe that, they would kill each and every characters growth, arc and characterization. They will not kill all that was sacred and symbolic of IPKKND. Poolside RabbaVe to the newly formed anJHAm? Really? Same place where ArHi had such beautiful Rabba Ves and Intense I hate you episodes.

Diwali ChakraVyuh was so polished, dignified when ASR helps Kushi out of the Diya Maze and they tried to imitate the same feel, but ended up with a Rangoli dance and ASR doing pirouttes. Really? Same CVs?

Sorry, if my reply hurts or offends anyone. Just my POV alone.

Sudha darling... I'm all for recycling .. after all we must think of mother earth 😉 ... to pick up @bold ... honestly Shyam Manohar Jha neither has the bark nor the bite ... I wish they would stop arming him with unncessary props ... the scorpion, the car, now the soap ... seriously ... even teh villain is commitment shy ... can we just fdrag him to the alter and get on with whatever twist they've got up their sleeves ... surely again where does it say his nefarious activities must be limited to one! ... why can't we have Shyam actively creating more rifts ... something .. anything ...

You have made the correct Diagnosis!!! It has jumped the shark. I am struggling to sustain my interest this week, mostly watch the recording in fast forward and it leaves an insipid taste in the mouth.

The writers/CVs/directors handled the love and passion reasonably well up until November/mid December, then started faltering.

They seem to be completely at a loss with the hate track, ended up with showing cruelty in the name of hate, which did not go down very well with the audience and they have now resorted to the half baked and inane acts of so called revenge which are neither passionate nor intense.

The reasons for this downslide, who knows, could be one of the writers left, we very well know one director has left, may be they did not have a strong story line to start with and are now themselves struggling to carry it forward. It also depends on who is the target audience and what one expects from a show, many people might be satisfied with the vacuous comedy track currently going on, but having got a taste of what the show was before, it is difficult to reconcile to the current state. Probably most Indian TV shows are like that, start with a bang and fizzle out at the end, but this seems to have happened rather quickly with IPK.

I imagine shows based on books or novels would probably fare better as the story is already there and you only need script and dialogues.

But this story did have potential, the two central characters' lives were shown to be quite passionately entwined and their relationship was expected to be volatile throughout their life, so why they are struggling to clear this MU I don't understand, even if they do clear this MU, there is plenty of opportunity for many more MUs given the personalities of the two leads.

👏 👏 👏 👏
You summed our feelings very well...this is what I have been saying for months now.
Forget true hatred that they claimed to show...they havent even shown true love. And that is what the problem is. You cannot have the depth of hatred without having experienced the heights of love. The problem is that these two only had passion to begin with...we saw a blossoming of love but we didnt see love thus we cannot see hatred now. You cant hate someone with all your will (all your energy) unless you havent loves them with all your might.
When I think of true hatred I think of Heathcliff...Hs hatred for Catherine part 2...for catherine's husband...so much so that he destroyed his own life in the process. All this he did for the hope of being near the one he loved. I know that this is not healthy...but I am saying this is what I had expected from the marriage track. Arnav's hatred battling with his love...his hatred overriding his love...Not mediocre comedy and below mediocre romance. If the CV's has shown them actually falling in love before the MU, then the MU and marriage track would have been much stronger...it would been filled with emotion...with betrayal not just from Arnav but from Khushi (because she will be lost that one day he loved her and the next he hated her 😕)

Very well said...I am travelling currently so just caught up with this week's episodes only today... I am yet to see the one aired today ...

True, a flimsy MU was brought in to bring back the hate track... what the CVs forgot was that the leads were in the process of falling in love.. so the expectations were for this round of the hate track to receive a different treatment from the one aired in phase one... however what we saw was a mixture of comedy, blow hot, blow cold relationship, loss of memory and what more no sign of the MU getting cleared... I mean we are talking about a Harvard Grad who is still unable to understand the importance of communication and active listening.

I like the comedy track at least it helps when the going gets strenuous but come one whom are they kidding?... they have digressed from the main point which was the MU... it is like they want to touch on all the other aspects of their relationship but are not willing to have the leads discuss the MU...

What about the two sisters conversing? One would expect both sisters to discuss their relationship and gossip about their married lives but none of it is shown... What about Payal feeling bad whenever she sees Shyam and discussing about him with Khushi? wouldn't it be natural for the sisters to discuss their little "secret"

We are also lacking a parallel track which could ease the stress and work schedules of the lead stars... but what we get is not what we had bargained for... a kid saunters in to make Payal jealous?

Some feel that if the MU is cleared there is nothing much to the serial... I beg to differ... fans like me prefer quality as opposed to quantity...

I truly hope the lull is caused by the IPL fever... this means we will not see the MU clearing any time soon, at least not until end of may.. 😕

Wow! You write very well..should do it more often.

Yes...concur with your musings. To me the introduction of the MU itself seemed ill-timed and too hasty. It was almost like they decided it with a sudden staff meeting...strike while the iron is hot!

You are right..the show garnered high TRPs during the brief romance track and that is when suddenly it felt like a trap door opened beneath our feet and we plunged down, from the euphoria of the dreamy romance of Arhi to that horrible, flimsy MU!

The problem is, the team is hellbent on somehow dragging this entire thing for as long as they can.

TRPs have fallen quite a bit...

I don't think it mostly due to IPL either...with the ARhi story going nowhere, slow pace of the entire serial and fillers, the show may be losing viewership too.

Today I was disappointed when they said that only 1 month has elapsed in the show itself!
Do they intend to drag this even more?

As a loyal fan of the show and the lead couple, I watch it almost everyday, with hope and optimism.

They need to increase the pace of the story..solve the MU and get going on the next track...but I doubt they have the future tracks even chalked out! It seems all bets are on the MU track, and hence the procrastination of showing it getting solved.

Sam...lovely post.

PS: I liked the episode today. But then...the MU is still where it was and the trust-building track is too slow...

Hey Shweta ... aww shucks! stop! ... no really stop! ☺️ ...
I know and so well put .. we all collectively plunged into this abyss ...I don't think there is a single person in this forum that can say that this current track is a success
... but unlike the CVs ... we the viewers have committed ... we are there day in day out ... enjoying whatever morsels of entertainment are thrown our way ... wag our tails .. bark ... and come back for more ...
... but even then as teh TRPs attest .. we are a minority ... the rantings and re4watching on the web will not sustain them ... and even your avg auntyji has wised up ... why waste her precious 20 mins consuming a show that leaves you feeling wanting ...
The CVs whetted our appetites and now we demand to be sated !

That is the same question i have been asking

I think i have said this a few 100 times by now, too much of scene space to the Ieads just for the sake of it without any story is doing more harm than good, the charm is getting Iost

speciaI mention sudha , where the heII is the viIIan!!!

Where is the story

I hope aII of us are wrong and the cvs redeem them seIves and this mess of a story they have created!!!!

👏Bravo!!!! Very very aptly put. Why are they so afraid to show the hate if this is the hate track? I would actually take the OTT hate they showed for the couple of episodes after the wedding rather than what's going on now. It was ridiculously OTT hate, but at the very least it made some sense.
