Today's Episode DID Have A Point- Did You Miss It?

It's so, so clever and also so subtle, I think it's only the really perceptive/ obsessed/ writers who will have spotted it.

One thing the Iss Pyaar writers have always been good at is distracting us with something relatively "major" so we miss the subtle inferences they weave throughout. Today, because of Khushi's OTT and completely unprofessional behaviour as well as the Tika scene, most people completely missed what, to me, stood out as the key moment.

When Arnav drags Khushi into his office to yell at her, he looks down and sees everybody in the office listening- and he drags Khushi away... Compare this to their first scenes in ASR's office and how he loudly and furiously lambasted her to embarrass and demoralise her in front of his staff. Today, even though she made him look like an idiot in front of the same people- he resisted the urge to retaliate and put her ego above his own.

Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional directing, a happy coincidence or just Barun being a genius, but he actually spins her away from the same window he dropped her from all that time ago.

Even his language has changed- whereas in the past it was a furious, English, detached "GET OUT!" today he used Hindi and it wasn't angry so much as pleading when he told her "JAAOO!"

You can chalk this down to inconsistency, but I prefer to think of it as the writers trying to show the changes in Arnav. He's not ASR anymore, no matter how much he might like to think he is and he's losing his resolve against hating Khushi day by day. The writers are showing this vulnerability and change so that it'll hit us even more when he destroys himself upon learning the truth.

It's what I do when I write. I slip in clues so subtle that nobody notices which then all tie together in a huge reveal at some point. I think it's better than some sort of infodump all at once. It's also so much more satisfying as a reader when a writer does this and when they tie it all together you can be all "OHHH!! I NEVER EVEN NOTICED THAT'S SO CLEVER OMG!" I like to call it the Orient-Express-Effect. 😆

I frankly couldn't care less whether or not Khushi's behaviour can be excused by the fact she wants to be kicked out or not. Although I firmly believe they could show these changes in Arnav's character without making Khushi exceed all limits like she did today, I do acknowledge that the poor girl's really digging herself a bigger hole- with the hair brushing scene yesterday, the tika scene today and the fainting scene tomorrow... her "fake" love for Arnav is going to come back to bite her in the arse and I for one am sincerely looking forward to seeing THAT particular fallout.

After all, Khushi betiyaan, in the immortal words of Michael Jackson "Be careful who you love, and be careful what you do because a lie becomes the truth."

But then again, this is all completely my opinion and you're free to continue to hate it if you'd prefer. 😆

Hahah to an extent, but he never cared in the past as it showed he was clearly the dominant person in the relationship.

He is, if nothing else at least acknowledging that they're in a relationship by giving her enough respect to keep their fight between themselves this time.

It's in such stark contrast to Khushi publicising everything all of a sudden that I couldn't help noticing. :')

But this is just one interpretation. It is also possible the people writing at the beginning are all pregnant/ watching IPL/ have quit and this is all just inconsistency. 😆

I did! I think he's supposed to be repenting for his mistake in understanding the whole Khushi-Shyam-Pharmacy deal last week as well as being forced to accept he misses Khushi when she disappeared.

He's changing and through this whole wishy-washy MU track, the only thing that's stayed consistent in my opinion is the gradual change the CVs are showing in Arnav, even if they don't directly show a flashback or something to explain WHY he's behaving that way.

Sure, I noticed it. Whether he did it because of Khushi or because he didn't want a scene with his wife in front of his staff is up for debate. He didn't seem to care about making a scene during the waterworks episode, so maybe he was concerned for Khushi. Either way, yes, they're trying to show some development of his character; no argument there.
But, IPKKND isn't just about Arnav, right? My problem is what they're doing with Khushi; where's the introspection on her side? Just the last episode they showed her deciding to avoid her husband as much as possible. Then almost right away, she flips to this. Today, she goes, "Itna krodh? Yahi to hum chahate the" Ummm... wasn't he krodhith enough already? Is she still trying to get him to throw her out of the house by annoying him enough? Ok, I'll buy that she wants to leave -but where's the worry about the family if she succeeds in getting him to kick her out? Is this really the Khushi they've been showing all these months who worries about every other form of life before caring about herself? No, not buying that.

Khushi's behaviour is definitely ridiculous at the minute. I'm just so disaffected by it now. If I was writing, the only reason I would write her like this is as her putting up a brave face to hide how depressed she really is and as she becomes more and more frustrated, so her behaviour becomes exponentially more insane... But I'm not writing this so that was just completely irrelevant.

I think the point they're trying to get across is that Khushi's like a child- innocent and naive in her thinking and behaviour as a contrast to the calculated, calm, mature Arnav. And they're going by quality of innocent and naive acts as opposed to quality- which is why we've been getting so many hits and misses. They're probably trying to build up a backlog of flashbacks for Arnav in the future 😆 To make 1 3-5 minute VM I usually need to go through nearly 8 or 9 hours of footage- and I only have ArShi clips downloaded- not full episodes. :')

I didn't realise until I read it on the forum that her motivation was to get kicked out and your points are true- W*F is she thinking? I'm not justifying her behaviour- today crossed all limits- but I think I can kind of see what the CVs are trying to do and I just hope they DO IT ALREADY and bring her back on track before she does something completely unforgivable (though making a mockery of the information Anjali gave her about Arnav already toes that line for me personally)...
