1. Aired a video of her falling in his arms with a reporter providing the worst possible interpretation of that, leading to her leaving Lucknow and coming to Delhi
2. Let her fall from his office window
3. Kept her out in the pouring rain parking cars (and saved her from the running car, yes. Sigh, I can't stop thinking about that scene - it was the moment I fell in love with this serial 😳 - ok this post is not to drool over Arnav, get a grip girl, and back to the negatives!)
4. Stopped the car in the middle of the road and told her to get out multiple times, leaving her stranded
5. Gave her back her payal, almost kissed her, and then told her that to a man like him, it meant nothing and that she should not imagine that she had snared a rich guy like him
6. Got engaged to another girl promptly after he made a move (a significant one) on her
7. Handed over the jewellery set she liked to his fiance and offered to buy her a wedding dress in an extremely insulting manner (calling it a tip)
8. Insulted her on multiple occasions, causing her emotional, physical and monetary damage
9. Led her on (from her point of view) during the build up to Akash and Payal's marriage, kissing her cheek, dancing with her with his hands all over her, buying her bangles - and then reverted true to self with his angry looks and insulting talk
10. Married her by force and led to her facing the brunt of the anger of her as well as his family, their questioning, their wrath, their indifference all alone - and then forced her to sleep outside near the pool and questioned her class.
I am not adding the guesthouse thing on purpose. He really had no idea how bad it was, and when he did, he ran to save her.
This is NOT a post to bash Arnav. On the contrary, I LOVE the characterization because of these very things - he is such a flawed character. He is insecure, he is paranoid about his family and losing them, he is a child at heart - he is real. That's what I ADORE about this serial - there is no rationalisation for Arnav (other than his past). He is mean, he is egoistic, and damn, he is proud of that fact. No goody-two shoes-ness for our Arnav! He is what he is! 😊
To a character like Khushi, yes, he will seem like a "dhokhebaaz" because of these reasons - because her innocence and her honesty shine through her childishness and immaturity. Also Khushi is very intelligent about matters of the heart - she knows that dishonesty is something Arnav cannot stand, so the minute she says "dhokhebaaz", she is setting herself up for the worst possible repercussions. But we can see that she is tired of asking him to finish the "farak padta hai kyunki" and the sentences today - she is determined to take this forward. As the guy in the audience said today - "ab Ranjha bhi aa gaya, ab toh love story ko aage badhao!"
Both characters are so flawed and they are just so true to type. This is what makes IPKKND the serial it is. We should not forget that fact in our hurry to say Arnav is wrong, or Khushi is wrong. They are both wrong, and they are both right, and that's the real spirit of the serial.
Sorry for such a long post!!! Hope you didn't run out of patience reading it (if you managed to get to the end of it! 😆)
