@Sinnie: Your post was spot on.. In fact after watching the SPA, I can see how IPK storyline completely contrasts with the rest of the shows.. Where each other show is relying on a parivar concept - IPK is about characterizations - strong ones - the leads - and how they are mismatched and yet the perfect match..

I really don't want to see SPization of IPK.. It would be disaster, for the storyline.. My worries have doubled, lately seeing how the characters have been all butchered.. As you rightly said I hope - IPK can keep its USP without getting SPized..

On the whole, It is the Whole team of IPK that made it watchable; Sobti's goofiness which was still cute, Irani's Khushiness which was cuter; and the whole team's i am with you 'moral support'

Even I loved these moments best while watching SPA😉😉Tfs👏

oh fab topic!!! loved every bit of it!! lol i think it will never live up to the SP standard..BUT n yes it is a BIIIG BUT,
IPK next year will win Fav pati,fav patni & fav jodi as long as ArHi will stay under one roof by the time the awards come(and they get nominated:p)!! it wouldn't matter whether Khushi runs after Arnav with a broom in her hand and Arnav goes back and dumps her in the pool in all her glory just to make a point!! they could be at each other's throats 24/7 physically abuse each other, or generally make the 'welcome to hell' line look tame..but still they'll win these awards!!!😲

this is due to a small reason,
well those awards r Public voting categories!!!😆

and from what i know they use international audit firms to calculate public votes (in SPA,ITA nt other small stuff) so they can't cheat and give to their fav or etc etc..
that is why this time public voting categories results actually made sense when looked at in character's popularity among the voting youths and not in terms of how the character actually is!!(deserving factor)
1 example : suraj not winning pati and viren winning it!
it made complete sense in a popular among voting(namely online cz we r the one's who r obsessed enough to make sure each of us manage to send a few hundreds! i voted 4 viren too despite knowing he doesn't deserve it! but he is in my 2nd fav show! see the logic?)

fav Beti - well it didn't make sense(as to why Khushi, the navi naveli dulhan who sacrificed her whole life along the SP trademark was not picked and a bahu was picked as a daughter!) except well they had to give Akashara an award and they picked this one..or a mixture somehow happened in the jury category female ones..a small shuffle which made quite a few choices a bit skewed..so..

therefore whether IPK PH caters to the SP theme or not, they'll get these awards..this time they got both awards which had them nominated in public categories as u said..

but on a hopeful side, well we have to give IPK some praise where it is due..the saas bahu part in IPK they try to make is funny! i mean mami bugging payal is sort of ridiculously funny(we do get fed up on excess but still) and not at all the serious depressing stuff we get in various other shows..they try to kill (get rid of) 2 birds at one go..
also they might make khushi do stupid/crazy stuff..but not the 100 ton wrapped in sari & jewelery 'meri pati bhagawan hai' syndrome! they keep her 100% away from it..so let us cut the CVs some slack..cz they r dealing very carefully with the channel and the regular viewer's needs (our type)
and she is struggling to be independent financially from her hubby and actively defy him!! and the best part is they show that the family's elders approve it!these r very unSPish characteristics..
lol wifey sleeping on the floor is totally SPish but hubby doing it for even one day is very very unSPish!!!😆
and the best part is this is a war b/w 2 eauals..not b/w a ahem ahem rearing bull and meek mouse..she gives as good as she gets, may be not in the best way possible...and the most sensible but enough to dent his ego and rattle him pretty badly!!

also IPK has a pretty loyal(bordering on fanaticism and insanity!!) young urban audience, this audience are NOT going anywhere..also SP is getting aware of the International views cz after all we who don't live in India watch the same channel and we r bombard with the same ads as on Indian viewers..so the revenue part will click in..
for SP IPK reels in more than half the international views..they showed it by including the international jodi category this time..

btw sm1 made a topic yesterday to get the rough no of non indian vs living in india fans on the forum and the scores were 20-% to over 80+% with one's outside India leading! SP also is well aware of this..so well i don't think IPK is in any immediate turmoil or in the brink of danger..

cz wt we didn't pay much attention among the center stage of Khushi's 100 way to annoy Arnav was how the darkness and the shadows cast by Shyam r increasing..it is lurking around thicker and closer than ever..it was actually sinister..and the comedy part actually didn't manage to distract me from the chill that gave me..so well i think IPK is treading on a precarious line..and so far the balancing act has been pretty accurate with a very few times where they came close to falling...

also one more fact for the 1st time since the last 4 years(since BV strted on Colors) SP never ever not even for a single day managed to lead the 8pm slot and let alone thatthey couldn't even come close to 2+ TRPs!!😲 that was until IPk did this unachievable task around the 3rd month and for the 1st time exceeded BV!!and then they managed to creep ahead and hold its head high above BV now without failing!!so SP is NO WAY letting go of their slot leader cz this was their striking gold on the 8 band!!

i hope i managed to convey what i wanted to say..and not to confound u guys..

on a final note...aahh SPA looked like it was designed around IPK!! just wonderful!!! it was like a fairytale!!!

you did convey what you want to say sunara. but lets first get this clarified.. the only awards with public voting were nayi soch kirdar, fav jodi, fav pati and fav international jodi. ther rest were ALL jury! 😆

hence, no surprises that Viren won the pati, an ArHi won the jodi awards!

i think i said it once back in this post.. Nissar once mentioned that online popularity of a show does nothing to keep the show running.. that way, why would SO have shut down? and why wouldn't we get S3 of MJHT and 4 of DMG? 😆 it is the TRPs that count and even if the show is a rage online; it still has to be a prime time slot leader for SP to click!

fortunately for us; IPK is a huge success either ways! and the way you put it; its a war between two equals! the only complaints since friday's episode being; they are not equals!!! 😆

applause on your red part! that is the truth! and yes that must be ringing in SP's ears for a very long time to come! but the lines are not too easy to tread there! there could be any day where BV will beat IPK with a 0.002% trp and all we will get is more inconsistencies in the notorious track!

the only reason SPA looked like it was built around IPK is because of us!! SaRun have been prominently ignored when their stars were touring every Patna, Paris, Pluto! and then suddenly we OL viwerers give an earful and they wake up and smell the coffee to give some equal imp to IPK.. but that too only in parts! (notice they were never core of the SP image with flashing songs and dances!)

i think there are frequent clashes between SP and PH; hence the result looks like a combination of the two! that hopeof PH is the only thing i am banking on right now.. many of the others even issued an ultimatum to the show..!! 😆

@sayani_monaya.. fortunately; ahem and gopi were not nominated for naya sadsya.. like i said, he won just because out of the 4 nominations; people found him the hottest! we never would know if he'd won if there were more nominations..

@sathu... i knew! i knew you'd say that! 😆 SPA is to make us happy when the episodes are not good; so we can keep gushing till the next bad thing happens when we all can complain or till the next best thing happens where we all can jump. 😆 i totally agree with the characters being well etched and consistent! it may bubbly; it maybe arrogant or it may be simplicity but it is the consistency of how well it is done!

@subha.. thanks for getting my point so right! 😆 that is what i was saying.. hope IPK can keep up with its USP without getting much SP-ish!

I haven't seen the awards but between your review and Laali's updates, I think i have a decent idea !!!!!!

But I hope the makers know that next week is crucial since the awards will definitely increase the viewership of the show. Based on what they are showing currently, it might be a great opportunity lost of the track doesn't live up the expectations created by the awards.
