Someday we'll be
Khushi looked lovingly at her husband through the glass sliding door that led from their bedroom to the garden. She was wearing a red sari, his favorite color, that she wore mostly on special occasions, and today was one such. It was early in the morning and she had been rummaging through his wardrobe to take out his clothes for the day when her hands fell on a black book. Written in golden script in the front were three letters: ASR. Khushi put her hand tenderly over those letters caressing them as if she were caressing Arnav's face. The black book definitely seemed like a diary and Khushi had the urge to open it and read the secrets it held. But then she started to contemplate..would Arnav approve of this behavior, would he get angry if he found out? But then being the daring girl she was she decided to open it any way. "I'll only read a page," she decided, "that should be fair enough." Khushi had taken the diary and found her place in front of the glass door so she could adore her husband's handsome face as she read. There he stood wearing a simple white t-shirt and black pajamas. He had the most innocent look on his face as he picked out the weeds that were growing in the garden. Every so often his hands would wipe the sweat off his forehead getting some dirt on it in the process, causing Khushi to chuckle in amusement. If anyone else looked at Arnav now he would seem like an ordinary guy in pajamas just out of bed. But if someone looked through Khushi's eyes they would see the most handsome man in the world. A man built to perfection. A man who loved and hated with equal zeal. A man who had a loving heart deep within a hard exterior. The heart that Khushi had found and now owned with great pride. Khushi had gotten teary eyed thinking of Arnav and thanking Devi Mayya for bringing him into her life. Although he didn't express it much, his eyes and actions spoke volumes and Khushi knew how much he loved her. Khushi flipped through the diary and stopped at a page in the middle and started to read…
Last night I saw you in my dream
Walking through a bluish stream
You glided in the water so
Gleaming in the sunlight from head to toe
I had the urge to take you in my arms
Take you away from any harm
I held my arm to reach out to you
But somewhere you disappeared in the blue hue
This is a dream that comes to me often
But it always ends incomplete.
I have a feeling one day I'll reach you before you disappear
Someday it will happen that you'll be near
Someday you'll realize you've touched my soul
Someday you'll realize you've made me whole
Someday you'll enter the garden of my dreams
And in my heart sew together the broken seams
I've been waiting for that someday to come
For what now seems to be forever
I wish that someday will come soon
The someday that I'll be over the moon
Someday……
He had left his thoughts incomplete. Khushi looked up from the diary to Arnav who was still busy with his plants. As the suns rays hit his handsome face Khushi began to see him in a new light. It was for the first time she had learned about his deeper feelings. Feelings that he kept hidden so well and had never spoken about even to her, his wife. Teary eyed she took the diary in her hand and opened the glass door to the garden. Creeping up behind him slowly, she startled him with a back hug…
