well um not sure if i should laugh or not!😆
i don't know if Barun is THAT good as ASR or not...but he surely is good enough to compel me see this serial(there r many things i find crappy in this serial)..and he makes me feel ASR real..what can u ask more for...there r many actors who r sometimes OTT but i never ever saw Barun like that...in fact Barun is the best actor i have seen on TV...
and he's good enough to make me watch this serial..only for him(ASR)!
what can u ask more for?😉

But somewhere i feel its not Baruns fault. He's doing fine. I feel its the directors fault. I have seen Barun in Baat hamari pakki hai and he was supposed to over act there and he did great. Here he has to underact but somewhere since there are no voice overs we the viewers are left guessing. like after that kiss if he had a slight smile we could have guessed he was being smug or happy that khushi was J. If he was slightly (very slight) wide eyed we couldve guessed he was like oh shit. Or if he was frowning and his face looked like he wanted to explain then we couldve guessed he didnt want this to happen.

Also when she was leaving the mandir. He kept looking after her. Maybe if he looked slightly forlorn we could've guessed that he was wondering when or if he will see her again. Now were not even sure if he even thought of that or was this meeting enough for him.

So Barun is great i LOVE HIM. But the directors need to also clarify his stance about Khushi. But maybe thats what they want. Us to be confused so we have trouble analyzing him and then they reveal what he feels through his actions.

Either ways again i say love Barun. He has strong screen presence and is a great actor.

I like yur analysis of Baruns acting .I also think the whole purpose is to baffle us , so that we are not syre what ASR is feeling . Somehow I always see somthing different in ASRs expressions than what other members see here . For example when ASR looked at Khushi after La pecked him - I saw that he felt sorry because he understood that Khushi was hurt . For me it was very clear .

And when Khushi was leaving - ASR was looking at her with a sort of challenge - you will come back to me .

I also like the way you put your last sentence because I so agree with it.

BS has a long way to go so that he can match up to Sanaya.So I completely don't get it when people say he overshadows her but that is what they think/feel so okay.Barun and daljeet are somewhat equals but here too Daljeet has been good from the starting which IMO BS has not been.

This show has a very good cast,there are some who are not that good but they have not been shown much or their character does not require them to do much but with ASR this is not the case.BS and Deepali are the ones for whom I think that hmm they need to be/can be better.

He is one of those actors who are good/very good/above average/decent in some type of scenes but average in other ones.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and so I will respect you for expressing your view. I personally feel that Barun Sobti is doing a great job as ASR. I can't imagine anyone else portraying the character.

There are few small things he does which actually brings out ASR's depth and character. For example the mean smirk he gave when he let Khushi fall from his cabin or the scene where asked himself why was Khushi's silence bothering him. He brings out a distinct difference in the character's behaviour towards other people and Anjali.

Everyone in every field has a scope to improve and in acting I think every actor evolves with time.

Young doesn't mean your PoV is considered nothing. Nowadays, teens are more mature than their age, and certainly, maturity doesn't come with age but with experience. Not necessary, Experience is proportional to Age. It all depends upon your destiny and fate, how much experiences are written at each phase of life. Likewise, judging acting comes with experience of seeing actors acting and in what form. If you dont agree on a topic, its better to press the Back button or the X button. All are humans, and everyone's opinion should be respected. :)

@TM : I disagree with you though I respect your opinion fully. I see nothing wrong in your post. Calling him average is not considered bashing or harsh. You are entitled to your own opinion. :)
I believe Barun is doing amazing job as ASR. :D

I would request all to not unnecessarily criticize the TM since she hasn't really bashed him, just stated her opinion in civilized manner. :)

he is not overshadowing her, nor that she is overpowering him.. both are doing their job perfectly.. just because sanaya gets more expressions & dialogues and barun has less, that doesnt mean he cant act.. he is just doing, what directors ask him to.

if you see him blank faced or expressionless, dont think about it from barun's POV, think about it in arnav's POV. arnav is not like khushi. he is different. he is supposed to be like this.

I think the major lack here is you have not seen Baat Hamri Paki Hai. If you had, then you be stunned the way Barun has playing ASR. it is not easy to go from expressions everywhere, to loud expressions, to so many various shades, to just stand there. You know the first Tu bata Maula, everyone had different expressions to give, hope, happiness but he just stood there, because the character itself is complex. He's not supposed to give expressions than you can figure out. He's not supposed to be a character whom you can read easily. and that's gonna be the point of their love story, when she will be able to read him without words, be able to look him in the eyes and clearly speak.

I think also like someone else said, ASR is not MSK or AP. He's a different character all together and as far as overshadowing is concerned, many fans will back their favorites. I have know where people have said x and x have overshadowed Sanaya in MJHT due to her character. As neutral viewer, I think they both overshadow each other in many places. They are powerpack performers.

In many scenes , he directly overshadows Sanaya and Daljit in scene because he is that good. So I don't want to imply you are wrong or whatever, but majority audience will say that Barun Sobti is SO good that it is unbelivable. He makes the character of ASR and Arnav come alive litearly.

Blue - i dont know why but I never felt that he was analyzing her . I sort of got the impression that he understood what Khushi was feeling .

I think in a man-woman relationship - a womans natural instinct tells her when the man is attracted towards her and the man's natural instinct tells him when he has power over the woman . I cannot say why the creatives made Arnavs finger touch Khushis finger while passing the thali but that is the usually the natural way any man likes to see whether his touch makes a diffference to the woman - by touching her . If he gets a positivve response he will proceed further .

The scene you posted is not included in that sometimes,I really really like the way he is checking her out lol,having watched his first show too I know that he has an absolute adorable way to act in these scenes and the best part is those ways are not only new and different from the previous times but they suit the character too.Swayam khurana had a different style than ASR.
I already wrote that according to me he is one of those actors who are very good in some scenes while in others they are not,just average.Not very versatile.

I have not watched his previous serial nor do I know a swayam Khurana ...But I have seen him Figo Advert n in the Hero Honda and have always been surprised by his range of emotions ..all expressed without a word ...

As for versatility...I would say versatility comes with experience and Barun is still inexperienced ..he is learning the tricks,nuances of acting ...Barun is lot better in comparison to many actors who think that they have got it made by having a 6 pack, glowering look and wooden face ...Give him time cherie, to grow up and grow into the role ...😃
