Shrenu Parikh: I travelled in trains without ticket!

Baroda girl Shrenu, who bagged a lead role in Havan right after her first show Gulaal, says she may be lucky to get good roles but things were not so hunky-dory when she came here to find her share of fame

"I had my own share of troubles. I used to travel in trains without ticket, struggled without a house in Mumbai. I was new here, I belonged to Baroda... Many people come to Mumbai and struggled, but I was blessed with good producers," said Shrenu parikh.

She comes from a very conservative family, but despite that she nurtured the dream of wearing grease paint and facing the camera. "I belong to a conservative Gujarati family. Acting was no where in the scene. But I used to dream about it. I told my about my inclination towards acting," she said.

However, her parents had different dreams for her. "My mom wanted me to become a singer and my dad wanted to see me as a doctor. I have done pharmacy, so I have fulfilled my dad's dream and I sing in shows for my mom," she said.

The actor, who played the lead role in Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka, is right now busy with Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon...Ek Baar Phir with Avinash sachde.v The family supports her career as an actor now, she said. "I was very scared about how they will react. Now my whole family, which is huge, is so proud of me. They are more excited than me," she said.

Shrenu says that IPKKND...EBP is a beautiful love story, full of surprises and one won't be able to predict how the two lead characters, played by her and Avinash, would react to each other. "Our story will be a love-hate story. You don't know what will happen between the two leads in this season... let's see how the audience accepts it," said Shrenu.

While shooting, she was unaware of the fact that she is working for the second session of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. "It came as a surprise that the show, which we were shooting for is actually IPKKND 2. It is a beautiful love story. I have enjoyed the process and I am excited about what will be shown on the show," she said.

The prequel of the show starred Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani. The sequel not only has a new story, but also a new couple on screen. Talking about the show, Shrenu said that it is fun being on the set. "It has been amazing. We have lots of fun on the set," added actor.

Shrenu Parikh has done quite a few endorsements in Vadodara and was also seen in the popular TV show Gulaal. However, her real big moment took a while coming.
Shrenuhas been finalized as one of the female leads in the recently launched daily Havan on Colors, and she can't hide her excitement, "It's a really big break for me. I play a girl who belongs to a poor family and believes in a person called Baapji, who is like God to her. It's a beautiful story and a concept that hasn't been tried before. And working with a reputed producer like Rajan Shahi is a dream come true. I am nervous, but also very excited. And I have got good feedback so far."
Interestingly, she wasn't hopeful of getting selected for the role initially. "My auditions didn't really go well and so, I thought I had no chance. But then, they held workshops and I got to learn a lot from senior actors. I am learning new things everyday and it's fun," shares Shrenu.
Quiz her about how she got inclined towards acting and Shrenusays, "I was always interested in modeling and my parents were very supportive. They taught me how to balance my studies and modeling. I have done many plays right since school days and also won a Miss University title in 2007, apart from winning a few other beauty contests held in Vadodara. I am also good at singing, have won a few dance competitions and hosted shows. Probably, getting into acting was a natural progression. In fact, as a kid, I used to mimic all popular characters of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi!"
So what next? "I want to focus on the show. But I would love to be part of a dance reality show someday," she signs off.

Shrenu Parikh in Byah Hamari Bahu Ka?

Speculations have been rife over the cast of Hats Off's forthcoming show titled Byah Hamari Bahu Ka which will air on Sony Entertainment Television.
It was recently reported that Karan Wahi, currently seen in Rajan Shahi's Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, has been approached along with many other names to play the male lead in the show. While the production house is still hunting for the male lead, we can now tell you that Shrenu Parikh, who was last seen in Rajan Shahi's Hawan (which failed to rake in ratings), has been finalised to play the protagonist in the show. What's noteworthy is that both these actors - Shrenu and Karan are associated with Rajan Shahi.Informs a source, ""Hawan may have failed to deliver numbers but the cast of the show has certainly been noticed.
Shrenu will now play the male lead in JD Majethia's show."" Says another source, ""There will be two families thus two protagonists and one of them is Shrenu. She is currently in Gujarat recovering from her health woes. Apparently, the production house has already started shooting with the other family. The show is tipped to hit the tube starting May 24."" Shrenu remained unavailable for comment.

Telly's daily soap Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon shot to instant fame in its first few weeks, thanks to its lead actors Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani. But ever since Barun Sobti (small screen's hottie) begin to receive film offers, he decided to quit the show. Following which, the show had to be concluded.
Now, the channel has strategised a new way of cashing in on the show's popularity. They can't have Barun Sobti back, but they can certainly have a season 2 of the show - which is a common norm for Indian television these days. The season 2 will have a fresh cast. Says a source, "Season one was popular, so it is only logical to cash in on the brand. The new season, which will launch soon, will have the same title with a tag line --- Ek Baar Phir."

The lead actor will be TV actor Avinash Sachdeva, who will be paired with Shrenu Parikh who was last seen in Byaah Hamaari Bahoo Ka.

Their on-screen chemistry in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon...Ek Baar Phir, the second season of the show (the first one had Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani), has been much appreciated.

But interestingly, while Shrenu Parikh and Avinash Sachdev, the lead actors of the show, both hail from Vadodara, they have never met in their hometown. Says Shrenu, "Guess what, I have never met Avinash in Vadodara! My mom used to keep telling me that Avinash is from Vadodara but I met him only while auditioning for this show. We share a very good equation on the sets and he keeps telling everyone that I am a lot like Astha (the name of her character in the show) in real life. Like Astha, I am a girl who is very happy in her own space and also, someone who can be a little clumsy at times!''

She adds, "Finally, I am doing such a beautiful love story! It is great fun! I was dying to do something that I haven't done before, and this show gives me that opportunity. I was dying to play a bubbly, peppy character! The audience always has high expectations from a sequel but the fact that it is such a wonderful story has helped."

Television actor Shrenu Parikh, who is having a good run of late thanks to her lead role in the show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon...Ek Baar Phir, is pretty clear in her mind about what she wants in the year 2014.

The actress, who flew down to her hometown recently to attend a Sunderkand narration at her home, says,

"For me, the year 2013 had started on a very slow note. But the positive outcome was that I got to spend a lot of time at home when I took a brief break. It was quite refreshing. After that, getting to play the lead in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon...Ek Baar Phir was a huge break for me. This year has been good so far and I am glad that my performance in the show has been loved by the audiences. I have some specific goals for 2014 and my new year resolution is to focus on my health and improve my food habits. Also, I want to read more whenever I find time."

They might be at loggerheads all the time, but there is some love brewing between them gradually. Gujarati actor Shrenu Parikh, who plays Aastha the second installment of the much popular show opposite Avinash Sachdev (who plays Shlok), was seen going retro for her show recently.

Aastha, who is gradually developing feelings for her aggressive husband Shlok, dons different avatars in order to woo him. The actress will be seen dressed up as yesteryear actresses and dancing to their popular songs to make him laugh. She will be seen in an anarkali dress and dance like Madhubala's character from the superhit film - Mugha-e-Azam. After this, she will be seen in a saree draped in a typical Asha Parekh style with the retro hairdo. Lastly, the actress will sport a kurta and lungi and groove to a Karisma Kapur number.

An interesting episode with some hilarious moments, fans will have to wait and watch how the Barodian actress looks in the different retro avatar!

Vadodara girl Shrenu Parikh, whose latest outing on television (she is seen in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon...Ek Baar Phir) has won her more fans than ever before, will be in her home town on April 30 like any other responsible citizen to cast her vote. Says an excited Shrenu, "While I had voted during the last assembly polls in Gujarat, this is the first time that I will be voting for the Lok Sabha elections and I am very excited! I was supposed to shoot on that day but I have taken a day off and will come to Vadodara to cast my vote. It's great that people are voting in large numbers this year and there is a lot of awareness among youngsters. They are no longer willing to just accept things the way they are and voting is a great way to contribute towards bringing about a positive change."
