He came to a complete halt the minute he laid eyes on her. After her departure, he had searched for her everywhere but it was like she had vanished without a trace. Desperate times call for desperate measures and he had taken some pretty drastic steps to get any information about her.
He had hired private investigators, offered a reward for any news of her and taken to running a monthly advert, pleading that she contact him but all in vain. And here she was, 3 years later, back in town a mere 10 feet away.
She hadn't seen him yet and he quickly hid behind a pillar, his starved eyes soaking in every bit of her. Three years and she had not changed one bit. She was still the beautiful girl who had once pledged her heart to him. His heart clenched painfully as he saw her the smile that adorned her beautiful face. He hadn't seen that smile since the day he had married her and thrust her into a hell of his making.
He still had nightmares about how he had acted with her, his malicious words that had ripped her heart into threads and the careless way he had handled her- as if she were a mere possession. Had he really been so blind that he couldn't see how wrong he had been?
He thought back to the day when he had lost the one person he didn't know back then that he couldn't live without.
He had walked into his room to find her packing her bags yet once again. "Where do you think you're going?" He asked callously.
"I've had enough! I refuse to live with you. You're a monster- just like your father." she responded determinedly. He moved so fast that she didn't have time to react, let alone run away. His finger tightened around her chin as he forced her to look into his hate filled eyes.
"How dare you?" he screamed. "How dare you say something about my father? Have you forgotten all that I have done to exact my revenge? I could destroy you and your family within seconds."
"I wouldn't expect anything else from the son of NJ Agnihothri. You know what they say, like father like son. You're father is evil and you're well on your way into turning into him. Your mother might be able to withstand his abuse but I wont stand for it. Forget his wife, the man didn't even spare his daughter- his own flesh and blood."
"Aastha!" He raised his hand to slap her.
"Go ahead! Hit me! Why did you stop? But hitting me won't change the truth! You and the other men of this house walk around with blinders on. How could you not see how much your own mother suffers under your father's tyrannical rule? I for one refuse to be a part of this twisted family! Your mother might not have hand anyone to turn to in her time of need but I have a family that loves me very much- a family that will support me through thick and thin." Saying so she lifted her back and walked out the door.
She didn't make it far before Shlok stopped her again. He grabbed a hold of her arm and swung her around, causing her to stumble and fall against him. He started dragging her back inside their room.
"Let go of me," she screamed. Her loud cry had not gone unheard and pretty soon the entire house was assembled around them.
"Chup chap mere andar chalo warna..." (Come inside with me quietly or else...)
"Warna kya hun? Kya kar lein gay aap? Dobabra hum pe chillein gay, humein daaraein gay yea phir iss bar hum pe haath uthaein ge?" (Or else what huh? Will you scream at me again, or scare me will you raise you hand to hit me this time?)
Tum jaanti ho ke main kya kar sakta hoon. Main tumhare parivaar ko barbaad kar doon ga (You know what I am capable of. I will destroy your family) Varad gasped and looked at his brother, shocked.
