Who is Shlok??

Liar/Cheater?? Double faced?? Multi masked personality??

OR

A True heart?? Deprived of love?? Insecure?? Doubtful??

How much do we know shlok??

Shlok's Background:

Shlok is a product of abused relationship. A product of NA and Anjali where NA is the GOD and Anjali his daasi and the bad guy to control everyone for NA.

A child who probably never enjoyed true love of his parents. One parent working against the other, feeding the ego and pride but not love and compassion. He grew up in a household where women are looked down upon. A suffocated environment darker than the night of AMAAVAS in a society, very rigid with traditions under the guise of being progressive.

Top it with betrayal from woman...Swati and Anjali

The only other woman in house being Sojal who never misses an opportunity to show her stupidity and shallowness.

One thing is circumstances, but the other thing is "our reaction" to our circumstances. This reaction based on "our inborn traits" and "acquired traits"

(Shlok's inborn traits are probably totally opposite to the ways he is groomed. Being a sensitive soul, must have been met with equally potent treatment of ego and pride leaving shlok agnihotri in inner turmoil.)

Shlok agnihotri, NA's faithful son, his shadow, his pride, his real heir could not be allowed to have finer feelings of tenderness and love for lesser beings like women.

Hence we see Shlok Agnihotri

"Our circumstances and our reaction to those circumstances based on our traits (inborn and acquired) make our personality which people see in us and with which we see people around us"

Shlok (Till Kohlapur)

Shlok's personality:

Emotionally disturbed (blind love and hatred), insecure, doubtful, which made him lonely, ruthless, insane, sadistic.

For Shlok women were:

Liars, cheaters, weak, stupid, sinister, should be confined to home.

(I do not believe that shlok thought women as commodities to be used and discarded. He thought that these "weak, stupid, deceitful, brainless creatures" must remain in the house, get married, so they may remain protected and must be controlled)

Also, Jyothi fiasco also shows that Shlok in fact does not hate women or believes in degrading women.

And yes, I believe "Shlok is not a liar" (will come to that too)

Was he egoist? Yes

Was he proud? Yes

Was he lustful? Yes but not evil.

Was he comfortable with his traits??? >>>Yes??? (if so, then why has he been running from himself)>>> during office invasion by goons aastha opened his eyes...asked him why are you not facing yourself, why are you running from yourself. Varad also told him to ponder that running away won't solve his problems)>>>what did he do? He decided to stay.

Aastha before kohlapur brought in Shlok the hatred for what she did and surprised him with her courage to help asharam people and naivety to tell Shlok in face about her marriage refusal. She made him wonder what a specimen of a women she was!!

and then and there, Shlok decided to check what substance Astha Kirloskar is made of!!

Shlok: (After Kohlapur)

Innocence and Guts:

A mere bird that could be easily squashed by his ruthless grasp yet looking into his eyes daring to reproach him. A woman??? How dare!

It did not fit into his view of women.

She reminded him of Swati (can't comment as we do not know why)

Kohlapur incident changed shlok and made him realize that Aastha was no ordinary woman. The real Astha as a person, strong with a fighting spirit, with good ideals, innocence and courage, nave.

Shlok's personality changes:

Emotionally stable. No outbursts of anger. No insecurity. He had stopped running from his past. He let go of the stones of past that burdened him the day he saved aastha. He was not ruthless or doubtful. He knew Aastha. She won her trust...a woman!!!

He developed faith in her innocence because he himself manipulated her innocence for whatever reason is debatable.

He tested her thoroughly. ("you have won my trust for a lifetime. i took time but i finally understand you") With that trust he let her love fill his heart.

He saw that she was falling for him too, so he went ahead and proposed in the "public" to her so that everybody will accept her.

Shlok's hate had made him stronger and stronger, his sensitive heart masked with a layer of hate in fear of getting hurt again. So when he saw Astha looking at the moonlight in Kolhapur, he was easily attracted to her.

He was frightened to show his sensitive heart to anybody till he fell in love with Astha. He showed her that he loved her through his actions. This is why Astha could not believe Shlok when he said he hates her. So he hated her for what she did to him and his family, but he loves her for what the real Astha as a person is but is still naive for the ruthless environment in his home and in the society.

credit @ abi-niki thank you dear❤️

Was he proud? Yes.

Was he lustful? . Astha is his passion, so the biting, licking but passion for what, for ashlok, for life, for a bigger cause (again debatable).

Was he egoist? Yes. Because the hate was strong till Kohlapur and then love. No confession.

Shlok: SR, Confession, and Aftermath

SR --- Astha love to hate

Confession --- hate burnt so only love is left in Shlok

So the hate was so strong, till, he burnt it in the fire at the temple when he told Astha that he hates her till the Kolhapur incident. Ego satisfied with truth spoken. Pride sustained. Love unwrapped out of hate and guilt cover.

He knows the real person that is Astha is too naive for the ruthless environment in his home and society.

And yes, I believe "Shlok is not a liar"

Lies of Shlok:

His insecurity led him to allure Astha in the perfect love trap because he did not want to lose Astha.

Is it right or wrong to trap someone in love?

Yes, it's wrong if he forced her.

But

He saw that she had started to love him, but would not acknowledge, so he proposed. But the lie was he did not tell her that he hated her earlier till he got married. But he did not want to consummate his marriage with the lies, so confessed.

Why he trapped aastha in love trap? Why did he not want to lose aastha?

Because:

He loved her and was afraid that she would not endure his dark side and leave him like Swati.

He loved her and truly did, but was guilty because he had not told her about his hatred for her.

He wanted her because he saw that they wanted each other. He saw that Astha wanted him too.

Yes with a deeper concept for a mission or greater cause, he also wanted her.

If love was lie:

credit @LECHU

Why he yelled at her in Kohlapur remembering Swati? (kiun baar baar samnay a jati ho...why the love I want to forget is coming infront of me in the shape of Aastha...y forget? Insecurity...because love led to loss)

Why became mad when could not find Aastha? loss -

The hug and panic we saw in Shlok during the moblie phone scene was true? loss

If Shlok hates aastha, then why fear loss? Is it love or desire to possess?

When you love somebody dearly you automatically become possessive.

Now that Shlok has broken Aastha's heart and trust, What does he want?

He wants Astha to stand up as a woman unlike those puppets in his house? He tells her "look at yourself, come on, stand up. If you break so soon, how will you manage in future"

He wants to tease and pain her all life? Does he not know how spirited aastha is! He knows it very well. May be that is why he could play with her all life as she will not break down easily, the more resistance, the more challenge, the more fun.

He wants to make her strong so what happened to Swati would not happen to Aastha as he cannot be with her 24/7? Shlok is well aware of the insecurity of Astha in his house. Also Aastha is not resisting abusive behavior of his family which will only increase over time.

He does not want Aastha to follow Anjali's path? Because he hates and wants to overthrow Anjali or because he wants to make Aastha a strong woman unlike Anjali. Yes he does want to overthrow the traditions that Anjali has been following blindly.

If he loves the real person that is Astha. No lust. Pure love. But one would say

What exactly is love? Iss pyaar ko kya naam dein? What is love? Is it possession? Is it the fear of losing someone? Is it trust? Is it the desire to being with someone whatsoever the reason? Is it to make someone independent and strong? Or is it a mixture of all those feelings?

Then, does shlok love aastha?

Where is the line between love and hate.

liked the whole thing you wrote..

shlok keeps telling astha that he hates her.. over and over again.. actually he is telling this to himself to make sure that the love he has within doesnt over power..

even though he is hurting astha a lot.. still he doesnt want her to lose her fighting spirit.. he wants her to fight back.. but if she gives up and stops fighting back he wont be able to bear it.. like they showed in sbs if anjali has asked her to fast he would have laughed and mocked her for that.. but the moment she faints he is suddenly concerned..

i feel astha should hate him and leave him for good.. but instead of fighting her way out with shlok.. she needs to make him see his true self and not his alter ego he sees in the mirror everyday.. when he gets back to his true self he will realise the moistakes.. for this the truth of NA will play an important role.. cos when he knows that hios role model is actually flawed and he is following the wrong person, only then the right person inside him will take over..

if astha does not love him, she should leave

but leaving him to make him see his true self
may not work in shlok's case
because
shlok has already felt loss through swati
he has preassumptions
insecurities
leaving him won't bring him around, as he will then categorize aastha along with other unfaithful women(in his view)
in order to overcome his sense of loss, he needs a stable relation and a person who reassures him somehow that she ain't goin no where...

like i said, leave her she should but not with the desire that he would realize that way because leaving an already insecure person will only backfire.

Lachii,
I think he doesn't hate women but is just angry at their masochistic behavior OR may be he is angry at himself for not being able to do enough to change it in his house.

He just sped up the process of making Aastha accept him for some unknown reason. He knew Aastha has feelings for him at that point. He could leisurely date her, impress her and then marry her. Aastha is not going anywhere. There is no competition. But he chose to close in on her like a hurricane, blinding her and preventing any rational thoughts in her. I would like to believe that there is a strong reason behind it.
