Advay wore a grim expressionless face as he checked Veer from head to toe. It had been a busy day at home and at work. Things hadn't spiralled out of control between him and Chandini over a discussion about her weight. He raked his fingers through his hair, he was going to have to strangle Shikha for having instilled doubt in Chandini's mind that she had gained weight. She had a little bit, not that he minded, he loved her curves. But ... he sighed heavily. She had not kissed him bye and had worn a pout on the way to the temple. She was upset and he didn't know how to make up to her and now Veer was proving a challenge. The day had gone down the drain and it was only just half past ten in the morning.

Veer gulped a few breaths as he stood sheepishly before Advay. He knew he was in trouble, as soon as Advay's piercing glare scanned him again.

"I am not being funny here,' Advay hissed between clenched teeth, "But we are a reputable firm, we take our job seriously.'

"Woh...sir,'

"Advay,' He hissed again, "The name is Advay.'

"Sorry.'

"I don't expect my people to turn up to work in three piece suits like myself or Diane,' He continued hissing and glaring, "I know this is Mumbai and weather here can get hot. But you truly must have some nerve to turn up in ripped jeans and a T SHIRT !!!' Advay was breathing fire now, "and you are meant to be a manager for crying out loud.'

"No ...Sir...Advay...Please.'

"And that stupid T shirt of yours...why is it like that,' He frowned at the T shit, "Do you have moths in your trunk?'

"Sorry?'

"Why does it have so many holes in it?'

"Oh,' Veer grinned with pride, "that's the style...I paid good money for this T shirt... just for these holes.'

Advay narrowed his eyes at him. Veer knew it was best to shut up or that he would get into further trouble with his infamous boss. Advay continued tapping his desk furiously with his fingers. Where the hell was Diane? This was a nightmare.

"Sir...I mean Advay ...Sir,' Veer squeaked, "Please let me explain.'

"What is there to explain? You don't seem to have any respect for this job or this place.'

"No...no it's not like that,' He sighed, "I didn't have time to do my laundry. It has piled up. I realised this morning that all my clothes were in the washing. Hence why I had to wear jeans to work.'

"Don't you have a washing machine?'

"No... Not yet.'

"Wait hang on.' He said, "I thought you said your mother is here with you.'

"Yes, she is,' Veer nodded.

"So, who does the laundry them?'

"I do,' He said, "My Ammi has a knee problem, there is no way I can let her do the house work. She only does the cooking...though my other room-mate and I we help her with all the prepping.'

"I see.' Advay sighed, he just couldn't bring himself to dislike Veer, despite his antics. There was something extremely likeable about him, something warm and sincere. How was he meant to deal with this boy?

"Hi Advay...What's the matter now?' Diane asked casually as she stepped into his plush office and eyed Veer from head to toe, "Nice T-shirt...where can I buy one of those?'

"You like it.' Veer grinned, "Fashion street.'

"My son is visiting shortly, he will love it,' She said, totally ignoring the furious Advay sitting before her, "Where is fashion street?'

"Don't worry Diane khala,' Advay felt his eyebrows hit the ceiling, what had he just called Diane? "When you son is here, I'll take him to fashion street... he can hang out with me and my friends.'

"I think he will love it,' She continued with a warm smile, "He wants to explore Mumbai, will be great if you guys can show him around.'

"Are the two of you done with your chit-chatting,' Advay hissed with gritted teeth. What had gotten into Diane?

"Advay darling,' Diane said casually, "You need to stop gritting your teeth so much...my dentist says it's not good for the teeth or for the gums.'

Advay glared at her in disbelief. It seemed like she had changed her loyalty from him to this sheepish Veer. Who the hell was this Veer?

"Why is he in a pair of jeans?'

"And why is a top shot CEO like yourself, bothering yourself with such trivial matters,' She mocked him, "Don't you have a presentation to work on, for your stake holders meeting?'

"Are you mocking me?' He glared at her, "I have better things to do Diane and my morning has been shit.'

"Have you fought with Bhabhi?' Veer grinned.

"Yeah,' Advay nodded instructively, not realising what he was saying.

"Wait shut up,' He snapped at Veer, surprised he was discussing his love life with an employee.

"Call her Advay,' Diane smiled at him.

"Haan tell Bhabhi that you will take her out for a gol gappe in the evening.'

"Wait how do you know she loves Gol Gappe?'

"Usmain kya hai, everyone loves gol gappe.' Veer grinned

"What is gol gappaa...' Diane frowned.

"Woh Khala it is like a round puri and we add imli ka pani,' Veer continued explaining, while Diane listened to him with intent. Advay watched the two furiously. What had his office turned into?

"Shut up,' He snapped. Diane rolled her eyes, just when she was trying to learn something new.

"I will take you out for gol gappe later.' Advay told her. "But can we get back to what this meeting was about please.'

Diane wore her professional expressional expression and straightened herself. He wanted to talk work, she would talk work.

"Before we go any further,' She said in a stern voice, "the stakeholders meeting is in two hours.'

"I know,' Advay hissed.

"Listen Diane, I came into work and I found this...this thing,' Veer frowned down to himself, realising Advay was pointing at him, calling him a thing, "this thing here loitering around the reception desk... looking that like...'

"Like what?' She asked.

"Like that...' Advay glared at her, was she blind, "Like a tramp.'

"Oh gosh Advay,' Diane sighed, "You need to stop over reacting.'

"Why has he turned up to work like this?'

"Because I didn't have anything to wear.' Veer grinned, "I have been busy for the last week.'

"Advay,' Diane stepped in, "Veer has been doing a twenty-hour shift for the last week, just so you know.'

"What...Why?'

"We have delivery problems again.' She sighed, "So he had been delivering. I am not sure why he is here, he was meant to go down to the warehouse today.'

"I was,' Veer said, "But Marcus called me, said he needed me urgently. I explained the problem with my clothes, he said he needed me for a couple of hours, in fact I was on my way to warehouse...when Advay...Sir...spotted me.'

"What delivery problem?' Advay frowned, "Why is no one telling me anything anymore?'

"That's because no one has ever told you anything,' Diane sighed, "You are a CEO, we can't keep running up to your office for stuff we can sort amongst ourselves... you have other important things to deal with,' She rolled her eyes, "Like preparing.'

"For the stake holders meeting,' Advay finished the sentence for her. "I know...I am on it...working on it. Will get it done.'

"Thanks.'

"May I go.' Veer asked glancing at his watch, "They are waiting for me at the warehouse.'

"Wait.' Advay said, "You are collecting from the warehouse and then what?'

"Manoj my friend in accounts...he is my room-mate,' Veer said, "We will be delivering them to the retail units at night.'

"Will you be okay,' Advay asked, "or do you need help.'

"Well Advay...sir,' Veer said, "Marcus wants me to be back and help him with customer complaints...so if we could get another person then we could collect all the products at one go instead of having to make two trips.'

"Okay...you go now and collect as much as you can,' Advay said, "I will organise for another driver.'

"Thanks,' Veer grinned, before turning around to leave.

"Oh, and Veer,' Advay said, "Buy a washing machine with your next salary...I am sure I pay you well...don't I?'

"You do Advay...Sir.' He grinned, and hopped out of his office.

"This boy.' Advay sighed.

"This boy.' Diane smiled, "such a sweet boy.'

"Do you realise what Khala means?'

"Yes,' Diane nodded, "It means aunty...mother's sister.'

"And you are cool with it?'

"Veer is almost the same age as Noah,' She sighed, "He can call me aunty if he likes.'

"Diane, we are at work.'

"You grandfather always said,' She sighed wistfully, at the memory of her beloved late boss, "That every one of us were his family...and he treated us like one.'

Advay nodded, his Nanu was a warm person.

"He used to stay up all night, personally wrapping everyone's Christmas presents,' Tears stung her eyes, at how thoughtful her previous boss was, "we would stay up together, the entire HR team, to help him wrap the presents.'

"I know... I remember.' A warm smile broke out on Advay's face, "Pooja and I would help you too.'

"Hence, I don't mind if Veer calls me aunty.' Diane glared at Advay, "I want to follow in the footsteps of your grandfather. My beloved boss,' She choked on her tears, "I miss him so much.'

Advay sighed. Diane was a no nonsense thorough professional like him. He had almost never seen her cry. But his grand-father was a great man, who had touched the lives of everyone he had worked with. He watched her sniffle to herself, it just seemed like a sob day today. First Chandini had sobbed, then Aadi had cried his heart out and now Diane. He sighed, was there no relief from these tears today? He had to cheer her up, had to say something cheeky.

"Would you like me to call you aunty?' He chuckled.

"Would you like me to slap you?' She scrunched her face as she grabbed her tissue and wiped her face.

Advay laughed out loud. She was adorable and he loved her to death.

"So, is Noah coming, did you say?'

"Yeah, they are all coming...Dave, Noah, Hannah.'

"Excellent...bet you are excited.'

"Oh and,' Her eyes lit up, "Noah is bringing his girlfriend along.'

"He has a girlfriend.' Advay raised his brow, "How old is he again?'

"Twenty-one.'

"It may be a fleeting affair.'

"No,' Diane snapped, "he is serious, hence why he is bringing her along. I have spoken to her on face time. Oh, Advay she is so cute...I adore her.'

"He is only just twenty-one,' Advay rolled his eyes, "He is a kid...too young for true love.'

"HAHA,' She chuckled sarcastically, "Look who's talking.'

"What?'

"True love...I thought you knew what true love was at sixteen.'

"Eight.' He chuckled softly, "I fell for my Chandini at eight.'

"You are such a paedophile.'

"What?' He glared at her, before bursting into laughter, "Diane I was eight ...a child myself. Besides ours is true love...the divine unconditional kind of love.'

"I am so glad you forgave her,' She put her hand on his, tears pricking her eyes, "You have been through a lot...you deserve to heal. Chandini seems to be a sweet heart. When can we meet her?'

"Soon...I will bring her to work soon.' He sighed, "but she is mad at me today.'

"Why?'

"Okay,' He sat up straight on his chair, "this is what happened this morning.'

Diane sat back and listened to him in intent. She was his agony aunt after all.

"She got dressed for work and asked me if I thought is she had gained weight.'

Diane raised her brow in alarm. Advay gulped he knew he was in big trouble just at the way Diane eyed him.

"What did you tell her?'

"That she has a little bit.'

"Ooohhh boyyy,' She gasped, "wrong answer.'

"Yeah I realised that once she started crying.' He raked his hair again, how was he meant to make up to her now?

"But it's not like I mind. I love her curves.' He tried to dig himself out. But Diane kept shaking her head in disapproval. "I love her...full stop.'

"You are in BIG TROUBLE.'

"What must I do now?' He sounded helpless.

"Did she say anything else?'

"Yeah, she said I don't love her and don't want her anymore, and wept and wouldn't talk to me.'

Diane chuckled softly.

"She didn't even kiss my bye,' He sulked like a little boy whose favourite toy had been taken away from him.

"And I have to now prepare for this stupid meeting when I would rather go home and make up to her.'

Diane giggled. Where was the tough no nonsense Advay Singh Raizada, what had Chandini done to him? But she was glad to see Advay like this. Glad that he had let Chandini into his heart.

"She'll be fine,' He held his hand and gave it a squeeze, "call her later, tell her you are sorry. I am sure she can't be mad at you for too long.'

He sighed. That was true, they couldn't stay mad at each other for too long.

"Oh, that reminds me,' Diane chirped like a kid, "There is something I have been meaning to speak to you about.'

"Hmm.'

"Our boy Veer has made a couple of suggestions.' Advay raised his brow, here we again, Veer's popularity was growing by the day, "Firstly, he wants a day out paint balling with his team.'

"What...what the hell.'

"Apparently it is a brilliant way for team bonding.'

"He is taking you for a ride with his charming ways.'

"No... Advay,' She sighed, "I have researched it...It is truly a great team bonding exercise, where you fight together as a team and protect each other. Like a proper war zone.'

He shook his head, still not convinced, but Diane seemed convinced, "It's your call, if you think this will help then go for it.'

"I have already approved.'

"Why are you asking me then?'

"Not asking, just informing you that's all.' She giggled, "I knew you would never second guess my decision.'

He grinned, glad she knew he would always support her decision, no matter how ridiculous they seemed.

"Hmm and the other suggestion was,' She winked at him with mischief, "Well he suggested it but it has been a group effort.'

Advay nodded.

"We are planning a carnival...just for all the members of the staff.' Diane chirped with excitement, "It's Diwali soon, and everyone wanted to celebrate, so Veer suggested a carnival, we asked around for suggestions and have a made of list of what to include.'

"And what have you suggested,' Advay asked, looking at his laptop.

"A giant ferris wheel.'

Advay laughed out loud, "You mean like the London eye.'

"Shut up...but this will be a big one too,' Her eyes lit up, "a proper good-sized wheel.'

"Could I make a couple of suggestions,' Advay said, sitting up straight in his chair, an idea had flashed his mind.

"Yeah go on.'

"Could we have a rock climbing area...for beginners.'

"We are having that,' she nodded, "someone's already suggested that.'

He furrowed his brows, "How about we make this a staff and families event. Where they can invite their families too.'

"It is a staff and family event,' She said grinning at his disappointed face, "Seems like most of the ideas have already been suggested, I will email you with the details.'

"Okay.'

She got up to leave.

"Diane,' He winked with mischief, sure this idea had not been suggested, "I want an ice bucket challenge.'

"What,' She gasped, he always came up with mischief. "No...No way.'

"Yes, I want an ice bucket challenge.'

"And who are you challenging?'

"That's a secret.' He grinned cheekily, "I could challenge you if you like.'

"No thank you,' she sighed, "thank god this is Mumbai, else in London, people would have died of pneumonia.'

He laughed out loud.

"Oh, and Diane.'

"What now Advay?'

"If you can't find a driver, let me know...I'll drive down to the warehouse later.'

"You will what?' She studied him in awe, it seemed like Veer's ways were contagious.

"I will drive down to the warehouse,' He said, "And please ensure that Veer gets some rest. We can't over work his like this. He has life too and we have to think about health and safety too.'

"I have told him that,' She said, "We are trying to work his hours out, plan is to expand his team.'

"Good.' He chuckled, "Just keep the ice bucket challenge a secret for now.'

She nodded as she left sighing to herself. Advay grinned to himself, he loved Diane and was glad he had her. He could talk to her about anything and she always knew how to cheer him up. Chandini, he sighed again. He wanted to call her, but he had a dreadful presentation to work on. He just decided to focus on work for now. He glanced at the calendar, thankful it was the weekend tomorrow. He could spend some time with her and make up to her.
