And someone asked whereabouts of Dev , she innocently answered them.

And till today she genuinely believes that advay's father stole those jewellery. She thinks that advay's family escaped from the vilkage when his father was caught.

And it will seem implausible if Chandni gave away Dev and their secret hiding place , told the people that she had seen dev's mom flying and then went off to Benares and after coming back wondered what happened to him. She was young but not that young😕 there are a few inconsistencies the cvs need to take care of.

If my understanding of the flow of events is correct..First Mahant was accused of counterfeiting and the gold was sent to that crooked goldsmith for verification. Murder happened late after it was "proved" that it was Mahant who ordered the counterfeiting of jewels..

There was few days lapse between the accusation and checking the veracity of the accusations... Chandni could have been present when the accusation happened but not when he was actually murdered..
