"But this cannot happen!" Indrani, chandni's mother said with offence.
She looked at the door, reminding herself her daughters are sleeping inside and then pulled her voice softly.
"You please try to understand. I cannot make chandni do this. To the fact even, he will not sign these papers." Indrani boiled with anger just with the mention of him.
The man in black suit and tie brings his hand in forehead. He is really trying hard to get the solution for the mess chandni have landed in but her mother is simply making it too difficult.
"Indrani ji, this is the only way if you want him out of your daughter's life forever. You have to bring his signs on these papers." The man said by showing the papers to indrani with a determine voice.
Indrani felt worried for her daughter. Last time when she have sent her to him , he trapped her for 6 months. She could not risk what he could do after knowing chandni is the person who have put him behind bar with help of police.
"Its dangerous! He can do anything. What if he tries to harm chandni again?" Indrani asked worriedly. She refused to take those paper in hand, she choose to stare it.
"He won't harm her. You know better!" The man in suit, smiled at indrani. Its like he have given a sarcastic remark to her.
"He could have easily got out this mess from court . changing the testimony of witnesses is not big deal. He didnt do that, on contrary he accepted all accusation drawn on him. JUST BECAUSE CHANDNI WAS THE ONE PUTTING IT! Do you think? We haven't noticed that. "The man added referring to the courtroom day where chandni was in witness box and number of accusation were made on advay where she gave testimony against him and judge gave his judgement by giving life time imprisonment to advay.
The man shuts his eyes and breathe , " i am not asking her to go back to him for rest of life. I want her to go and get these paper sign , as he wont stand anyone but her to talk. She atleast will get a chance to speak, better than rest of us. Now the decision is yours! " he said curtly. He kept the paper on coffee table near couch and walked out of the house with his small brief case.
Indrani stood in silence , staring at the paper on table. She still felt unsure of sending her daughter back to him , for any reason.
She is still occupied with the thoughts when she saw a drop of water fell on paper. She looked up just to find they were not water droplets but tears and that too of her favourite daughter, chandni.
Chandni glanced at the papers and picked it up. By the look at her face, indrani knew she have heard lawyer and her conversation. She tried to say something which could make situation better but chandni beats her at this, "You dont have to worry about me Maa. If i am the one who brought you all in this mess, then ideally i should be the one getting you all out of this. I will bring his sign on these papers. And i promise you, everything will be back to normal this time." She wipes her tears with her palm and flashes a smile to indrani. Indrani nods her head in yes in encouragement...
Its already quater to 4 and soon the visitors time will began. Every prisoners looks hopefully at the bar for guard to come. They are like their messenger to bring the message of their dear one's. Everyone eyes lightened with hopes except one's Advay singh raizada. He is busy in his own world as if he have broken all connections with world. The prisoners voice starts to get louder and louder as one by one guards started calling their name. People cheer them and claps, even whistles could ve heard in crowd. One by one slowly their names were read and were taken to separate cell to meet their visitor. The guard flipped over the papers to read the last names. His brow twitched in confusion, he re-read the name. His own eyes are not believing on fact that finally someone showed humanity and came to see him.
And lastly he called out a name, fully unsure of whether he is reading it right. This is the first time he is reading his name for visitor meet. He confirmed the title and called out once more, " qaidi number 786, Advay Singh raizada"
Advay broke from the thought of reverie and looked in the direction of guard. He raised his eye brow in question. The guard smiled at him and showed him the paper in air, " Advay singh raizada." He saw his name.
His heart beated fast and the breezes around him started to appear more calm and cool. The guard took the key out dig in the lock and unlocked it. Advay came out stretching his hand out . He could hear his muscle cracking noise. He had a full grown smile. His eyes were sparkling with anticipation. The guard didn't required to ask, he could see advay already knows who is here for him.
Soon they were standing before the new cell. Advay got in and the guard with jailer locked the door. Then they went out to get the person inside. Advay had his back to the door. He was smiling with happiness. He could smell her in air. He could hear her footsteps walking in his direction. He didn't required eyes to confirm it for him. His heart have said it all. She is here...
"A..ad ..advay" her voice as delicate as rose petals took his name.
Just then he had a biggest smile on face. His heart raced faster , he shuts his eyes to calm down his nerves.
"Advay?" She called out again. The man whom she is here to meet looks different. If he is advay, he have lost too much weight, his clothes were torn and dirty and his hair were grown and messy. With those beard on his face , he looks another man. She almost didnt recognize her when she saw him.
Advay turned to face her finally and she gasped in shock. He is really looking bad. He have grown beards on face , his eyes have huge undereye circle. His lips are chapped. Instantly her mind sweeped her off to the image when she met him first. He looked prince charming of country then and look now, what he has done to himself.
He could read her eyes, she is guilty. He smiled at het lovingly which brought her back to present.
"Ad-" she started but he beats her
"How are you?" He wanted to know if she is okay. She looked pale and her eyes are puffy. She have cried few hours before. He noticed.
"I am good." She managed to say. "How...how are you?" She asked softly.
"Alive" he replied with one side smile.
Her eyes turned big in surprise but she instantly took a hold of it. Focusing herself to Not to get diverted with his witty lines.
She came close to the bar and he groped her hand and brought it to his chest.
"I was waiting for you on my birthday. You didnt come. Why?" His husky voice is wrapped with hurt and sorrow with mild spice of happiness. She could hear all emotions he felt by his tone.
She didnt reply to his question. How could she? She knew a week before it was his birthday and he had made one of the guard call her asking her to see him. But she refused then. There was no point in doing something for someone who donot matter anymore.
She looked stern while she stretched out papers for him to take.
"Advay. I want your sign in these papers." Her fear started to get better of her. She stammered to speak.
Advay took the papers from her and turned pages to pages, she stood calm waiting for his reaction. She saw him reading them, and with each paper his eyes turned wider, by the time he finished the last page. His eyes were blood red.
"What is this chandni?" He asked showing the paper to her. Chandni felt weak in her knees, all her preparation went in vain. Nothing! Nothing can save her from his wrath.
"You know it." She mumbled , eye locked on floor.
"You want divorce? Why?" His expression changed from shock to hurt , from anger to sad. He almost cried when he said why?
She bite her lips before she made herself to speak.
"I dont want myself to be hooked in this unwanted relationship you forced me upon." She never beated around bush when it came serious talk. She always was a straightforward to keep her thought.
"Unwanted?" He chuckled at it on disbelief.
"Who put this word in your mouth?" He knew she is not the one who could say this. She is being brain washed. "Who is teaching you this?" He asked again . His eyes are locked on hers intently.
"Yes..." She stammers " Please sign on it and set me free. I want to start a new life." She somehow managed to say it confidently.
"A new life, Without ME?" his hopes were dying.
She nods her head in yes , " please sign them."
" what if i say no?" He crossed his hand across his chest and flashed a one side smile.
She sighed, how well she knew him. He will never sign divorce papers. She was prepared for it.
"I have a deal for you." She smiled at him nore confident than ever.
"Deal?" He tilted his head cockily.
"Yes . I can get you out of this prison. If you let me out of your prison." She eyed him. Her eyes spoke volume. Anger, hatred, fear and hurt everything, advay could read every emotions she felt.
"My love is a prison for you?" He asked his eyes never leaving hers.
She felt herself loosing confidence under his gaze. She knew he is aware what effect he have on her.
"Please. Sign them." She pleaded him for umpteen time. Chandni took a step ahead and folded her hands before him. "Please" she begs.
A tear rolled out of his eyes due to frustration and he grabs her hand and pulls her close to him.
"Tell me, You dont want this!"
"I never wanted anything as much as i want you to sign on this papers." She tried to get out of his iron grip but her strength match nowhere to his physics.
He laughed really hard whike his eyes shredded tears of sorrow and angst.
" listen carefully! You- are -my -wife. Mrs advay singh raizada and NO ONE! I repeat no one can break you free from this identity. "His voice is low but deep, as if he is threatening her with his calmness.
She feels her heart drop to her stomach. Chandni eyes filled with tears as she heard him say, " You are mine chandni and always will be. I will kill everyone who come in our way. Let it be you yourself!" He holds a look which said he is damn serious about it crying to her own situation and she left.
