Hammie's Impressions ~ep28~9.8.17.. Soft spots.
As people we hold within ourselves certain weak or vulnerable sentiments known as soft spots for something or somebody. We may well, if a situation arises, defend our soft spots rather passionately. One of the most common areas that we feel strongly about is the family unit. It gives us a sense of identity , as to who we are. Not only that, it back dates us to our past, lineage, descendants, and our roots. The family also takes into account our existing kin and brood. In short one's family unit is deemed to be a person's back bone of support systems needed for emotional sustenance in particular.This then is the stereotypical view of one's family. But reality also shows there are those too who for whatever reason are bereft of this blessing, called their very own family! But human nature is such, that it forges connections and links with people, to gain a sense of belonging with others. The episode shows two characters, Chandni and Advay ,who both feel strongly towards their families. Both tend to defend their family name and honour. Chandni's is declared while Advay is unheard and his plight for his family name is one silent cry! only for his own ears. The episode also touches upon the issues of mistake and seeking pardon as a respectable solution, to wrong doings..
What of the deliberate error committed to avenge one's family honour and respectability? Chandni commits the blunder when she mouths off venom at Advay. Her caustic words about him being a loner without a family! so what would he know about looking out for relative's sentiments? Is no blunder on her part. But her horrendous words aimed to hit at his soft spot of not having a family.. Constitute a systematic reason for him to justify to her at a later stage ,that she was responsible for the traumatic death of his parents. The scene is meant to be as it is. Cruel use of words. For literary purposes, the scene spells out dramatic irony.. is a literary device , used to create, drama, fear ,or tension in the plot. Irony that is inherent in Chandni's words. The situation is known to the audience , but which her character cannot grasp. We can see along with Advay her oversight, but she is in the dark. The tension between both will perhaps, eventually lead to some self evaluation ,regret on both sides. But the stage is being stage for Advay to embark more fully on avenging his lost and snatched family drama. Chandni repetitively hammers him with the word family. Constantly reminds him she has a family and thus knows how to live in one. He is deprived of family, so he is at a loss to strike any relationship with anyone. Her words are used to add fuel for Advay's doomed , solitary persona to raise its head!
Its one's family that makes one's heart bleed and starts floods of tears. For as humans the last thing we want is to be left alone to fendfor ourselves without the security of the kindred spirit! Chandni weeps really , out of insecurity.. I can see she knows Indrani the hard-lined matriarchal figure of this house is in place of her mother.. not her real mother! Chandni is like the child who will do anything to appease Indrani.. just to gain favour in her eyes. To me Chandni also wants to pay back Indrani for being a mother figure to her. So much so.. even marry the infamous PP . Advay is aware of Chandni's predicament. He wants to be her messiah, but she sees him as the devil incarnate! All this, to please Indrani! Advay too cries in solitude in the privacy of his room.. no Chandni .. I don't loathe you..in fact I laud you for reminding me of my purpose! To regain my house! Where all my world lay.. in the peals of laughter of my father, mother and my baby brother.. those times when I possessed everything.. now ,nothing all because of your family.. those joyful times your family snatched away and now silent wails of deathly silence stab against my broken heart.. perhaps you see me as stone hearted ,cold blooded! without a family.. wish you could only look deeper in my eyes..you will see ,yourself in my soul , as the link to my once family.. you Chandni are part of my lost family.. but then you don't see deep enough into my soul!, weeps Advay in a dark corner of his room..
When two simpletons with sincere hearts and minds , Shilpa and Murli can see vividly ..that even in their heated discussions and fall outs! Chandni and Advay are two souls lost in the universe. Unhappy without each other. ,Shilpa tells Murli, Chandni was entering a loveless marriage! Pity sir, and Chandni cannot see their healing comes from each other..both Chandni and Advay have the healing balm of love within themselves, for each other ! but alas! They are blinded by their own hidden agenda's, undying loyalties to their families! Seems family here divides rather than unite!
The arrival of the family peacemaker..who puts an end to the stalemate, so the wheels of circumstance roll yet again! Chandni bears the cross of defying Indrani and thus has fallen from her grace! Today's function appears unlikely .Chandni suffers from guilt pangs.. but mamma ji takes things in hand and defends Chandni s case before Indrani who passes her judgement .. that Chandni despite knowing the significance of this alliance.. has committed one to many mistakes! which are beginning to look deliberate.. no wonder PP and his mother are peeved due to Chandni's slip ups! Chandni is reduced to the ground.. Advay watches all, from the side wings.. exactly how Indrani slyly lays the onus on Chandni ,almost manipulating Chandni begging for one last chance.. Indrani perks up and aspires to be seen as a good stepmother.. but commands, Chandni, to carry out a public apology to PP and his mum. Chandni loves to please Indrani, and she agrees for her mothers's happiness . Chandni is shown to assure Indrani she will go ahead for the alliance to happen.. Advay is not amused, he can see through Chandni's feigned joy.. inspite of what happened earlier, Advay didn't expect Chandni to apologize to him for her nasty language.. see he still looks out to offer protection to her, rather expose her! Whereas, chandni wanted to expose him , throw him out of his house! Advay also notices.. that Indrani's sword of emotional blackmail still hangs on his Chandni's pretty little head!.. Indrani will only forgive Chandni.. if? PP and his mother forgive her.. Advay stares at her from far and muses... so Chandni hangs on to and celebrates this family? Where she is being used!
When pardons are not granted for mistakes in order to forgive the one at fault. But rather pardons are sought to name and shame publically to maintain the upper hand! PP and mum return to Chandni's house ensuring their upper hand remain on the brides family as they are the needy ones. Advay watches Chandni being disgraced publically .. her humble apology deemed as not humble enough! by PP s mother. Where she gives Chandni emotional abuse ! a tough time verbally, with her taunts. She leaves her son PP to do the physically abuse part.. Advay watches from far.. she warned him to stay clear.. so in despair he tolerates from far.. see he can never hate her.. Dev was always Chandni's guardian angel.. but when PP touches and fondles chandni's clasped hands.. Advay Singh Raizada was not going to stand in the shadows! But rather intervene! Restrain and literally collar! nearly clobber ! PP's hard to control filthy, touchy, feely drive!!.. but Advay sobers a bit.. to get the bite out of the scene, Advay grabs a bottle of fizzy pop! and shoves it in PP's mouth ! and heads Chandni standing behind him..to get the hell out of here!!
Hate her? or love her? but one thing is for sure Advay cannot stay away from her..as she preens herself for the function, he enters the lady's room.. loves to talk to her, engage her in anything? Sweet nothings or bitter banter.. she tells him to leave, he refuses, tells her off.. rude girl manner of talking to her future husband, is simply not done! She snubs him, Pratham is her would be husband.. somehow as always they end up squabbling!
There is no sanity in the green eyed monster .. she makes the mistake of telling him not to touch her! Pratham already touching her had wound him up and he unleashes his fury and barks in her face! threatens her if that joker lays a finger on her! he'll smite the pair of them! He warns her.. no reasoning of hers, no teary waterworks! For better or for worse! She belongs to him! every bit of her!! Chandni is gobsmacked at his rants! He glares at her he won't touch her but he won't allow another's roving hands on her either! Chandni closes her eyes.. he casts his spell on her.. he warns her, all her stubborn streaks belong to him and will thus rub off on him too! Chandni defies him, he cannot stop the ritual.. he glares calmly into her face.. he won't! only she'll do the ritual with him! he warns her, she retorts in full game mode.. we'll see!! He replies we sure will see! missy!
The gremlins of the past haunt him at the slightest mention of this house.. Advay is plagued by his past family..his name sake, his father's respectability and clout in this very place, all stigmatized by the vashists! this house! his house! He growls with a scowl on his creased brow.. he is back now! to mete out justice.. this depraved lot! they realize not they erect their festivities on the bodies of his parents! he will reduce everything they own to ashes! Chandni triggered his destruction.. now he will retaliate by kick starting their end by punishing Chandni!! Question is will the protector in him allow the destroyer in him to harm Chandni?
Great episode!Chandni's sharp attack on him.. puts him on the right track to unleash the fiend in him! the episode belongs to Barun.. he was great in giving us a befitting taster to Advay as the dark angel! The precap.. is Advay doing his bit graciously ..supporting the family in place of the passed out would be groom.. Advay's bloody foot prints symbolize his resilience to carry through what he came to do.. with the love of his life in his arms, secure ,shielded across his damaged heart.. when pain becomes a soothing balm.. are Chandni and Advay hamlet53 10.8.17
