It's already been one month since IPK3 started. I never thought I would get to see Barun on TV ever again. I'm glad Gul Khan was able to convince him to come back. This man doesn't give a rat's as* as to how much money he makes or how many online followers he has. He simply wants to do good projects that satisfies his heart. He never accepted Hate Story kind of movies like other contemporary actors from TV. In his private life he is a gem of a person, married to his high school sweetheart, loving brother and son. He has no air about himself, candidly mentions how he never went to formal college ( online distant degree only), hauled cars for nights to buy a gift for his sweetheart, never demands special attention from producers, doesn't even ask for food on sets. His quiet reserved personality gets misinterpreted often but once people get to know him , they all love him ... Nobody has ever disliked Barun Sobti. He has no formal acting training and yet he in unparallel in acting prowess. He is simply a natural born talent. Not seeing him get good work was painful and felt unjust. Anyways, that's all behind us now ...we can see him everyday thanks to IPK3.
There are many controversies surrounding Gul Khan's manipulation and hateful exchanges between various fan clubs. This left such a bad taste in mouth that I couldn't even celebrate the return of the king with appropriate fanfare and accolade. Even now social media regarding IPK3 is rife with frank threats to sugar coated jabs.
This cloistered environment has made me cautious not to stir the hornet's nest. I never reply to the negative posts or threads. I just want some peace and enjoy watching this brilliant man without constant clamor of negative jives.
After one month of airing of IPK3 , it's clear it didn't get the eyeballs it should have gotten but it's improving everyday. Barun has been as good or even better than before.. confidant, seasoned , world class act. Gul is a genre by herself, rom-com-murder-mystery-social msg- psychology-science-potpourri mixed bag all in a tossed salad ... You eat the pieces you like and chuck the bits you don't want. Is she the best out there ? Probably not ... But she knows how to bring out the best in Barun ( and other actors ) and that's all I needed. Rest ... time will tell ...
After the rocky start , the last few episodes have been so enjoyable that I am hopeful that this show will be a hit. .. It's taking it's sweet time. I'm loving Ritus's restrained acting, Shivani's retorts, mausi's phangurling, PP baba's comic timing and vashishth sisters knucklehead plans ... If this show was not embroiled in such controversy then this story would have been interesting enough to make people get hooked. I have tried to watch many lame shows to fill the void left by Barun and IPK1.. . Now that I have found IPK3 , I don't need to watch anything else anymore.
Congratulations to IPK3 team on completing one month on TV. It's a joyous occasion and things can only get better from here. Let's celebrate and leave the negativity behind.
