That's what "Zinda Laash" directly translates to...and that is what seems to have been the end goal of this entire deranged spree from Shivaay today. If his sister is going to be a "zinda laash" all her life and never wake up, well he will darn well make sure that Anika is reduced to the same state no matter what it takes.
How does marrying her exactly make her a zinda laash, I don't quite knowđ€...lol...having her character utterly assassinated in public didn't get this girl down...she bounced right back up on her feet and was fighting him tooth and nail...so then he seemed to have devised this new plan of marrying her and letting her be called his mistress to utterly break her.
But as we discussed last week...this has been a constantly evolving plan...needing catalysts along the way to hit each new low.
Today's epi started with Shivaay continuing his nautanki of a jilted lover going "Pyar kiya toh darna kya" to break her marriage to Nikhil...and I must say there were many funny moments in this bit to me despite the insanity of what he was doing...he was being so outlandish and over dramatic in his pleas that it made for some comedy instead even as he was tarnishing her...NM enacted this all really well once againđ
I didn't even realize initially that he was holding his shoes in his hand until they showed him handing those to Nikhil's dadđ
And then started his next level nautanki...the way Shivaay who once had these same expressions while earnestly speaking of his feelings for Anika today used those expressions in an utterly put on mannerđ
Love how the projector screen was already up and ready to go before Shivaay even drove up to the marriage venue..already ready for him to useđ
Finally all the drama bore fruit and Nikhil left...and finally the mask dropped from Shivaay's face too as he dropped the jilted lover act and his eyes went cold again...
Perhaps he thought that would do it...that would be enough to destroy her and the wedding she so badly wanted...but Anika still had enough fight left in her to shout at him and ask him what he thinks she's done to deserve this...interesting that instead of railing against him for doing something so vile, she still mainly wants to know WHAT he thinks she did to deserve this...that usually wouldn't be the first thing a girl would wonder in the face of such humiliation...so many aspersions cast against her character but she only wants to know is WHAT she did...
Shivaay's anger bursts out again
I liked the way she told him she isn't going anywhere...a clash of wills again before he carries her off
In the hospital scene, Anika as expected is shocked by Prinku's state and still asserts that she just wanted to save her from D...Shivaay watches coldly, not believing her one bit...and ofcourse Anika watches herself thrown under the bus by Payal again...perhaps it was fitting that she experience this for going out of her way to help ppl who never cared for her...
I couldn't even really feel sorry for Anika in this situation...the levels of negativity are so high by this point that this is expected to drag on...it's contrived to render Anika utterly stupid and trapped while Shivaay has no real cause to believe anything she says
And on cue, Prinku's condition worsens as these three hapless idiots can just watch...lol
Daksh busy shedding his crocodile tears while Shivika are busy staring at each other in the backdrop...at this point Anika was even giving some sympathetic looks to Shivaay seeing him shattered about Prinku...lol
And then came another phonecall...the phone is the cause of Anika's doom every time...last time also Shivaay got extra crazy when her phone was ringing in the middle of him trying to talk to her...he seems to interpret it as apathy that in that moment Anika stepped to the side to take a phone from her sister and that is when he had his second "Boom" moment for the day
And off they head to the mandir...it didn't seem possible for Shivaay to outdo his derangement levels for the day but he managed to do just that after being told that Prinku will never wake up...for some reason that meant he needed to go marry Anika...ok thenđđ
Anika's shock when he tells her he brought her here to marry him...her then shouting at him in incredulous anger...that he can't just marry her like this...it's not a joke...to which he lashes out that his sister's wedding wasn't a joke either...LOL interesting that she even tried to reason with him that she can understand he's angry with her about P and that's why he broke her wedding...lol man is this girl understandingđ...
He let her think he's letting her go for a moment and she ran off...only to be stopped in her tracks by him taking her mother's name..."Vasundhara Trivedi"...who contrary to some ppl's expectations turned out not to be the mistress of shivaay's dadđ
From hereon as expected Shivaay blackmails her with her mom's truth and threatens to tell Gauri...which ofcourse instantly brings Anika running back to plead with him, grab him by the collar again asking him why he's doing this...interesting that she fully reverted back to calling him "Shivaay" again today...so much for "Mr. Oberoi"...lol
But he is too far gone to be reasoned with...a complete black hole where no light can penetrate
I did find it randomly funny how he needed her to wear the dupatta properly on her head to marry him...how does it even matter, dudeđ
But Anika remained fiesty till the end...bit his hand and again tried to run off...that's when things turned really dark
I'm still trying to muse out the reason for showing the last scene in such an ominous fashion...despite the juxtaposition of the "Om namah Shivaay" on the wall behind Shivaay, this scene didn't just try to paint him as a destructor like Shiv too becomes sometimes, but rather as a more overtly OMINOUS force...now his expressions which for the last two episodes have focused more on being seen in a broken light in this moment crossed the line into utter darkness...atleast the way I could see it...and I'm not sure that was needed for the story
Writer madam's obsession with dark, beastly mode we are all well aware of...but in the previous forced wedding, they gave Shivaay that one moment of being humanized when he ran to save Anika from running towards the burning car...this time there is no such moment...instead it seems as if the there is just no end to the darkness and venom dripping into every scene...now I personally don't have a problem with darkness...but then why not choose one side and stick to it? Why try to paint this Shivaay as both a goofball and then reaching almost demon status today?
Unlike the previous episode, no nuance or subtext existed today to indicate Shivaay actually married her cuz he couldn't see her marrying anyone else...today it suddenly became all about his sister...and it's a tougher sell to try and show that your sister is dying in the hospital but you feel the need to go marry a girl for revengeđđ
In some ways it seemed like he did this also to get back at what he saw as himself being defeated by her in the matter of P's wedding happening or not happening...on another level, he feels he's doing to her what she did to him...using the most painful intimate details of his life vis a vis the secret about his parents to blackmail him/destroy his family...so he's using the most intimate/painful secret of her life vis a vis her mother's status as a mistress life in order to destroy her...just that this selective memory regarding the video and the drunk scenes is again some half-baked writing...lol
As always, goes without saying that NM-SC were stupendous todayđđ...but I'm still not sure this extra dark twist was thought though by writer madam...tomorrow Shivaay will achieve his goal of rendering Anika a "zinda laash"...what next though? How long must this endless series of MUs drag on with overload of vile insults on Anika's character? If they do not have any other story to this redux other than cheap character assassination on a daily basis, not sure how how that's expecting to carry on...anyways let's see how they even attempt to walk back this dark hole they've thrown themselves into...lol
