Love, they say, changes people. And not just a simple change; it transforms them; it brings about a reformation that is irreversible, undo-able, and above all, it remoulds a person in a way he/ she never thought would be possible. One such transformation I would like to throw light upon today is this very complex, yet understandably and realistically relatable character named Omkara Singh Oberoi, and his life revolving around this petite woman named Gauri Kumari Sharma... urf... Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi.
A quick trip down the memory lane:
It all began that one fateful day when Omkara married this woman- a total stranger to save her life from goons, but immediately pushed her away, refusing to have anything to do with her.

He'd walked away from her, unaware and unknown to the fact that she had already given him a place in her heart, mind and soul; a place that no other could ever take. He became her savior in the truest sense, and in a simple yet complicated way, she became indebted to him for having given her a second chance at life.
Life took a drastic turn when she landed up as Chulbul into the same house as that of her savior; her pati; the man she came to call as her parmeshwar. As regressive and old-fashioned it sounds, it seemed a reality for her. He had given her a chance at staying alive and well, hadn't he? And thus, began a journey of friendship. Chulbul saw the real Omkara, the one without a spiteful mask, the one without the anger, the one with the most sensitive and loving heart, the one who loved his family beyond conditions and reasons, the one whom she fell in love with.

His heart hardened the moment he realised she was not who she claimed to be; she wasn't his friend Chulbul, but the supposed gold-digger that was the cause of Jhanvi Thakurain's death. Leaving her in Kali's hands, he returned to Mumbai, only to have her back in his life to oust Swetlana. Hand in hand, they put up a pretense in front of the vile woman, and even with him hating her with all of his might, they'd managed to stay as a team.
She'd stirred up a rare feeling in his heart though; he'd been scared to lose her when she was locked in Swetlana's freezer. And the relief that coursed through him was unexplanable when she opened her eyes. Again, with CPR, he'd given her his breath, quite literally, and brought her back to life.
With Swetlana gone, Gauri had decided to walk away for good, only to have Shivaay bring her back into Om's life. With that, began a series of confusion for him: a dilemma between the Gauri he thought she was, and a Gauri whom he could see. He did see Chulbul in her, but also couldn't forget the Gauri Thakurain in her. His family adored the woman, and while he assumed he saw the real her, she challenged every assumption of his. And after the BuaMaa fiasco, he'd expressed to her he'd wanted to see the real Gauri and know the real Gauri.
He'd slowly begun to have a soft corner for her, and an undeniable feeling that made him want more of her, emotionally, but the guy was unable to voice it out.
Circumstances added to his troubles, and he'd burst out on her like an active volcano. She'd then gracefully bared her heart out to him, and then, with her head held high, decided to cut off all ties with him, only to make him realise what she meant to him, and how much he loved her.
As Dilpreet, he'd seen the real her, finally. He'd lived in her environment and become a part of the life she once lived, before he'd stepped in. With the fear of losing her, he'd gone to the extent of kidnapping her; something that Omkara would probably never do. But here, it was either live with her or die everyday without her. There was no other choice at all. And when she'd run into his arms, thanking him for bringing her back, he'd understood the real meaning of "all is fair in love and war"
And that love has grown strong ever since. The ardent fans of this beautiful couple have noticed a marked progression in every scene of their journey, and no matter how limited, all of those scenes are dear and very well cherished.
Now, Omkara has always been a very private person; so private, that even the couple's fans don't know what went between Om and Gauri for the past six months! 😆 But today was a pleasant surprise, with Omkara going out of his comfort zone and posting a selfie WITH THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE.
It may surprise a few of them about how it would never be Omkara's character sketch to post a private selfie. I'd say, rather it would not be Omkara's character to NOT make up for the ignorance towards his wife, on the first time at the art exhibition.
He knew Gauri was there to support him at that art exhibition, and while he'd been stunned to acknowledge the same, he'd seen the vulture-like reporters bombarding her with questions on her relationship with the artist, and her identity as his muse. His whole focus was on drawing away all the negative attention towards her. He'd questioned her reason for coming over, he'd asked her why she'd come despite his warning. His intention had been to keep her away from the limelight, because he knew she was not like the people he mingled with; she was too naive, sweet and innocent amidst the diplomatic and two-faced people of his high-class society.
But she'd misinterpreted it as the shame he'd felt at her presence; she'd thought she had disappointed the man whom she never wanted to hurt. She thought she'd embarrassed him. And with that, her decision of taking up English classes, so she could not embarrass him. How far was this from the truth! All because they did not communicate!
And then we all thought that this incident was forgotten and was brushed under the carpet. Until, we saw this in the episode:
Now, for a person who hated a woman (his live-in partner Riddhima) for bringing in pink cushions, assuming she was taking control of his life, one cannot deny that posting an intimate selfie was a huge step. But he did it anyway. Not to flaunt it for his own attention, but for the sake of the pride of the husband in him. To show how proud he was and felt to have her by his side for the rest of his life. He is aware of all those times he'd not given her the place she deserved, and today, he went out of his way to make it up to her.
And she'd been shy when he'd captioned the selfie and shown it to her, calling her as the love of his life, but hardly expected the reaction it would bring among the people.
And then came a press conference in OM; a normal one for a change. The one where he proudly spoke while she sat next to him with her gaze on the floor.
He called her as his WIFE, just as she wanted him to. Remember that confession where she says, "I wanted you to take pride in calling me your wife"? That was what Omkara Singh Oberoi did today. He fulfilled her wish. he took her words seriously, and took utmost pride in calling her his wife.
For all those times he had dragged her out of his house, tried to push her out of his life and for all those times he'd humiliated her in private, he had finally accepted her as his wife, in public. He'd finally said that he wanted the whole world to know what she meant to him. He wanted to proclaim his love for her. He had been truly sorry for the first time he'd been unsupportive with her at that exhibition, and he vowed he wouldn't repeat that mistake again. NOW THIS IS OMKARA SINGH OBEROI'S CHARACTER SKETCH!

A limited yet consistent story on their progression from Omkara hating her by saying, "Mujhe tumhari shakal se nafrat hai" to him admitting in front of the public that she is indeed the love of his life. Omkara has come a long way from effortlessly despising her to limitlessly loving her. From "Yeh shaadi nahi, bass ek naatak hai" to "Mein duniya ko ye batana chahta hoon ke Gauri mere liye kya hai aur mein uss se kitna pyaar karta hoon", he fell irrevocably in love with her, and we fell deeper in love with them...
Suffice to say that Omkara Singh Oberoi is transformed in love...
Suffice to say, he's besotted with his wife...
Suffice to say, he's head over heels in love with the LOVE OF HIS LIFE- Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi ❤️
