Loved everything abt it!!! Omkaras proper redemption. I could imagine how shrenal would hv nailed each and every sequence.
Gauri woke up after a long time. She did not realise when she fell asleep. The last thing she remembered was her husband sleeping on her lap after the confrontation last night. She then rubbed her eyes and looked at the clock only to find that it was ten in the morning. Her eyes grew in wide and she was hit by the realisation that she overslept. She hit her head not knowing how to show her face to family members. Why didn't her husband wake her up? And what would she tell her in-laws? That was when she saw her husband walking towards her with a tray in his hand.
"You woke up? Chalo fresh hojao. Tujhe hi utane aa raha tha(Go freshen up. I actually came to wake you up) Om entered the room with her breakfast.
"Aap pehle kyun nahi utaya hame(Why didn't you wake me up before?) she asked with slight anger and a pout. Om smiled looking at his cute wife and kept the tray on the table.
"Patha nahi. Utane ka mann nahi kiya tujhe sothe hue dekh kar. Kal bhi bahut thaki hui thi toh...( I don't know. After seeing you sleeping, I didn't feel like waking you up. And you were tired yesterday. So...) he said hesitantly. "Go get ready. You did not eat anything he told her and helped her get out of the bed.
She got freshened and came out drying her hair. She turned away from the mirror only to find her husband staring at her intently. Om was mesmerised by her beauty. She looked ethereal. He didn't know how she managed to look beautiful even in those simple clothes. He came out of his reverie when he felt some drops of water on his face. That was when he saw his wife shaking her hair on his face playfully with a naughty smile on her face. Without any prior notice, he pulled her into his arms in one swift and moved the hair on her face to one side while she rested her hands on his shoulder.
"Kya baat hai Mrs. Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi. Lagtha hai aap ke mood khafi achi hai? (What is it Mrs.Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi. It seems like you are in a good mood) he teased her while she looked at his eyes lovingly.
"kya dekh rahi ho?(What are you looking at?) he asked her again looking into her eyes with a smile on his face.
"Yahi! Ki aap ke aankhen kitne sundar hai (I am just looking at how beautiful your eyes are) she said totally surprising him.
"Acha? he asked "Aisa kyun laga (Why did you feel so?)
"Bas yun hi! Aapko pata hai, Aap jo bhi bol nahi paathe, aapke aankhen bol dethe hai (I just felt so! You know something? The things which you wouldn't be able to convey through words are conveyed through your eyes) she said and continued looking into his eyes while he had a full blown smile on his face.
"Aur aap kya dekh rahe hai? (And what are you looking at?) he heard her ask.
"Dekh raha hoon ki tumhare aankhon ke rang kya hai( I am just trying to find the colour of your eyes) he said mesmerised.
"Woh toh mujhe nahi patha. Par mujhe sirf ek hi baath patha hai
(That I don't know. But I just know one thing)
"Kya
(What)
"Yahi ki mujhe bhook lagi hai (That I am hungry) she smiled biting her lip.
"Mujhe bhi(So am I) he smirked looking at her lips.
"Chodiye hame (Leave me) she smiled shyly.
"Nahi chodunga toh (What if I don't) he whispered.
She sadly pouted while bringing her hands to the joints of his hands and suddenly started tickling him which made him leave her. And then she ran away laughing while he let out a playful laugh ruffling his hair behind.
There was a time when they used to feel awkward in each other's arms and the current change brought a very pleasant smile on his face.
She finally sat down on the bed while he brought her the breakfast signalling her to eat. She nodded taking the plate in her hand. She dipped the roti in dal and brought it to his mouth while he sat cluelessly.
"Aap bhi toh nahi khaya na( Even you did not have breakfast right?) he heard her ask. That was the moment when he fell even harder for the child-woman sitting in front of him. When she prompted him again to eat, he opened his mouth and allowed her to feed him and his eyes misted a bit. He then took a piece of roti and fed her. They soon completed the breakfast and Om saw Gauri lost in deep thoughts.
"What happened? he asked.
"I don't know how everyone would react to what happened yesterday night, she said in an apprehensive tone. "And I did not even get up early today. What would they be thinking? she said biting her nails while Om took her hand out from her mouth and sat beside her on the bed.
"No one will tell anything. And this is your home too. You can do anything you want to. So don't worry
"par..
"Bharosa hai mujhpe? (Do you trust me?)
"khud se yaada (More than myself)
"Toh zyada mat soch. Kuch nahi hoga (Then don't think much. Nothing will happen) he said placing a kiss on her forehead lovingly while she closed her eyes with a sense of belonging.
"Toh chale? (Then shall we go?) he asked her while she nodded her head in a no.
"Kyun? (Why?)
"Mujhe kahi nahi jaana. Mujhe bas aapke paas rehna hai (I don't want to go anywhere. I just want to be with you) she said innocently, interlocking her arms in his and putting her head on his shoulder.
He looked at her and put his arm around her shoulder sidewise and brought her closer.
After a while:
It was lunch time and since it was a weekend, everyone was present in the house. They took their respective seats at the dining table and were waiting for Omkara and Gauri. That was when they saw them walking hand in hand and everyone exchanged smiles looking at them.
After taking the seats and after the initial hesitation, Gauri spoke to no one in particular.
"Woh! I am really sorry. Meine bahut der kar diya aaj
(I am really sorry. I am late today)
Dadi was the first one to speak up.
"koi baat nahi puttar. Kabhi kabhi hotha hai. Waise bhi yaha rules toh nahi hai na (No issues puttar. It happens. Moreover, there are no rules here right?) she smiled making Gauri smile nervously.
"Waise toh Gauri, Jab meri aur Tej ki nayi nayi shaadi hui thi, Tej subah kabhi nahi ut the the. Mujhe har din inhe utane ke liye muh pe paani daalna padtha tha (And you know Gauri? When I and Tej just got married then, Tej never used to wake up early. I used to throw water at his face every day to wake him up) Jhanvi said for which the whole family broke into laughter and Tej turned his face to the other side feeling a bit embarrassed. Nevertheless, he had a smile on his face reminiscing the old memories.
"Aur patha hai Bhabhi (And you know Bhabhi?) Rudra intervened. "O bhi kuch kam nahi hai. Jab who chota tha toh kabhi nahi ut tha tha. Sirf ek thareeka tha. Uske kaan mei sirf ye kehna tha ki uska paintings chori hogaye hai. Tabhi jaake ut that ha (O is no less. When he was small, he never used to get up. We had only one way to wake him up. Someone should just go and tell him in the ears that his paintings got stolen. Then he used to wake up) he said for which the whole family including her broke into another round of laughter. Rudra, as usual, earned a small slap from his brother for making fun of him.
Shivaay and Anika looked at each other smiling shyly knowing very well of what makes them wake up late.
"Aur iss se mujhe yaad aaya. Pinky tumhari pehli rasoi yaadh hai? Jab tum der se uti thi, toh chup chup ke jaakar mujhe khaana banana pada. Aur sab ko laga ki tumne banayi(And all these makes me remember! Pinky do you remember your first cooking after marriage? When you woke up late, I went silently into the kitchen and made the dishes. And everyone thought that you were the one who made it) like that Shakti ousted a secret while Pinky yanked her arms on him. Everyone was surprised with the new piece of information and they broke into laughter again. For a change, she didn't feel insulted. Rather she was glad that Gauri's mood got changed and she was happy. Like that, the lunch was totally a happy affair. Omkara mouthed a slight thank you to Jhanvi while his mother nodded acknowledging it. He was happy that his mother diverted the topic. He was even happier that his family was helping her overcome the past.
It was evening when Om got a call from his detective friend, Rahul. He left the house to meet him while promising Gauri that he would be back soon.
Gauri knocked her in-laws' room with a tea tray in her hand while she heard her mother-in-law asking her to come in. She kept the tray on the table and handed them the cups while she heard Tej asking her to sit. She sat beside Jhanvi on the bed while Tej made himself comfortable on the sofa.
"How do you feel now beta? Tej asked her to which she nodded slightly.
Gauri was a bit nervous. She faced everything all alone. But the fact was she did not want anyone to know either. She felt weird that everything was out in the open. Though she was glad that no one asked her anything regarding her past, she felt something fishy. The way her chacha chachi made fun of Om didn't sit well with her. And upon that, the recording was out in front of her in-laws. She took a deep breath and she spoke.
"Papaji, maaji, kal jo bhi hua uske liye maafi chahthi hoon (Dad,Mom, Please forgive me for what happened yesterday) She said folding her hands for which Jhanvi slightly slapped her cheek.
"Chup! Pagal ladki! Bina wajah ki maafi maang lethi ho (Chup! Stupid girl! You keep apologising for no reason) she told her off in a motherly affection. "In fact hume maafi maangni chahiye. Mujhe tum pehle bhi kaha par meine uss pe dhyaan nahi di. I am sorry Gauri. I am really sorry (In fact we should be the one apologizing. You already told me a bit about your past and it was me who didn't pay attention. I am sorry Gauri. I am really sorry.) Jhanvi said holding Gauri's hands.
"In fact I am happy that you are a part of our lives. Especially Om's. Jo bhi hua, uske baad bhi tumne Om ke saath diya. Thank you so much Gauri. Thank you for accepting him back. Pehli baar itna khush hai woh aur wo bhi tumhari wajah se. I would forever be grateful beta!
Meanwhile, Tej got a call and left the room.
"Maaji, isme thank you kehne wali kya baat hai(Maaji, what is even there to thank me in this) Gauri made a weak attempt to stop her.
"Nahi beta! When mine and Tej's marriage started falling apart, he was the one to suffer the most. And somewhere in between all these, even I failed as a mother. Jhanvi told her feeling a bit guilty while wiping her tears.
"Maaji, yeh sab chodiye na. Yeh sab puraani baathein hai. Ab sab theek toh haina(Maaji, leave all these na. This was all in the past. Now everything is fine right) Gauri spoke while she wiped her tears as well.
"Haa Gauri, ab sab theek hone laga hai. Thank you (Yes Gauri. Everything has started turning out to be good. Thank you) Jhanvi said kissing her forehead. "Waise bhi, tujhe patha hai bachpan mei sabse zyada shaitaani Om kartha tha? (By the way, do you know that Om used to be the most mischievious kid when all these were young?) Jhanvi said completely taking Gauri off by surprise.
"Omkara ji aur shaitaani? (Omkara ji and mischief?) She asked him in disbelief.
"Yakeen nahi hotha na. Jab Tej office jaane ke liye taiyyar hothe the, unke socks gayab kar detha tha. Aur uske paintings ko kisiko bhi chune nahi detha tha. Jab Rudra ek baar Om ki colours use karne ka zidd kar raha tha toh usne paani mei mitti aur turmeric daal kar duplicate colours banaya. Aisi harkatein bahut kartha tha. Aaj tak Rudra ko nahi patha ki Om ne aise kiya (It is unbelievable right? When Tej used to get ready to go to office, Om used to hide his socks away. And he used to never let anyone touch his paintings. Once when Rudra was being stubborn to use Om's colours, Om made duplicate ones by putting turmeric and mud into the water. He used to so many mischiefs like these. Even now, Rudra doesn't know that Om did all these) She said while both of them broke into laughter.
"Maa bahu milke kya baat kar rahe hai mere baare mei (What are mother-daughter-in-law duo talking about me ?) Om said leaning to the door cross-legged with his arms folded. He was very happy watching the two of the three most important women of his life laughing away happily. He was missing his sister badly. It would have been perfect if even she was here.
"Bahu nahi beti (It is daughter not daughter-in-law) he heard her mother say and gave out a full fledged smile looking at their bonding. "Ab mujhe ek nahi, do do beti hai (Now not just one, I have two daughters) he heard her say again.
He then came inside and sat beside Gauri. "Oh toh yeh baat hai. You still did not tell me. What were you talking about me? he asked playfully.
"Maa beti ke beech toh hazaar secrets hothe hai. Hum aapko kyun bataye. Haina maaji?
(There will be a thousand secrets between a mother and a daughter. Why should we tell you? Right maaji?)
"Bilkul theek kaha tumne Gauri Jhanvi laughed.
(Absolutely right Gauri!)
"Mom! Aap iski side kyun le rahe hai. Beti ko dekh kar bete ko bhool gaye? (Mom! Why are you taking her side? Did you forget your son seeing your daughter?) he complained in a kiddish tone.
"Tum dono bhi na. Kuch nahi ho saktha (You both are impossible! Nothing can be done) Jhanvi smiled. "Sach kahun toh mujhe bahut acha lag raha hai tum dono ko khush dekh kar (To say the truth, I am really happy seeing you both happy) she said and she hugged both of them together while both had a serene smile on their face.
In the evening, Gauri was walking absent-mindedly in the corridor thinking about the day events. She still couldn't understand why none of them asked her about yesterday after such a big drama. She was in her own thoughts and that was when she collided with someone breaking the glass bottle. Pinky was walking with a tray which had showpiece. It suddenly fell down when someone crashed her and realised that it was Gauri.
"Choti maa, I am really sorry. I didn't see you coming. I am sorry... she was cut off in the middle by her.
"Arey beta! What is there to apologize? Don't worry. I will tell the servant to clean it up.
Gauri couldn't believe her ears. Her choti maa did not taunt her? On top of all, did she just call her beta? What was happening in the house? She really needed to get away from the place before she loses her senses. She nodded her head and when she was about to leave, she heard her Choti maa ask.
"Gauri, are you fine?
And there goes another shock. She just nodded her head in a yes and left the place hurriedly.
That night after dinner, Anika and Gauri were closing the kitchen for the day. That was when Gauri voiced her opinion out.
"Bhaujaai! So much has happened and no one said anything to me?
"Hai meri behen! Woh tere pati ke kamaal hai. Usne sab ko bol diya ki koi tujhe koi uncomfortable feel mat karwaye (Oh my dear sister! It is your husband's magic. He told everyone not to make you feel uncomfortable) she teased her.
That was when it hit her. He asked her whether she trusts him in the morning and this was what he meant then. Her husband took a lot of efforts and she really felt blessed. She asked Anika if she could go while Anika nodded smilingly. She was happy for Gauri. She knew Om would be the perfect partner for her. He would keep her happy forever. The sister in her was at peace.
Om was busy with a painting when he felt two arms go around his shoulder from behind.
"Why didn't you tell me before? she asked him hugging him from behind.
"Tell what? he asked and turned to face her with her hands in his.
For the nth time, he smiled thinking how her hands fit perfectly in his. Baby hands, he thought and he smiled.
"That you requested everyone, she said with tears in her eyes.
"Yeh utni badi baat nahi hai Gauri he told.
"Mere liye toh hai she said "Aap nahi samjhenge
It was a casual complaint. She indeed knew that he knew how much it mattered to her.
Om knew that it was her mood because of which she was complaining. He knew that she knew how much he understands her.
"Theek hai. Chalo idhar aao he said pulling her into a warm hug and cocooned her into himself resting his forehead on her head while she found solace.
