BLURB- small account of how destiny and Cupid leads Gauri to her Omkaraji

A/N- I don't write dialogues in Hindi but for this story I have written some because I wanted to use the 'Peter D'souza' accent 😆

Fate's Game

PRESENT
PAST

Gauri frantically waved her hand in air as she stood below furious downpour to stop a taxi. Soon a man long haired man following Gauri ran out of an dark alley and strode up the her. But before his hand could reach up for her hand or even blue net dupatta Gauri immediately jumped inside the taxi and it disappeared into the long roads of Mumbai, leaving the agonised man behind. He fell on his knees on the middle of the road, his own tears disguised under the mercy full raindrops and he screamed just one name on top of his lungs. "GAURI!" ... Gauri looked out of the window and wiped her stained cheeks with the back of the hand as she gulped.

"w-why Omkaraji why? Tell me why?" Gauri asked as she cried her heart out. They were both in Omkara's office, in his cabin.

"kya kami rehe gayi thi mere pyaar mein? Boliye omkaraji, boliye...boliye na...please," Gauri begged Omkara as she fell down near his feet, her knees feeling weak and lifeless. She couldn't dare to look at his face...it would just bring back like flashback and drench life out of her all over again. So she kept her head hanging down as her hot tears stained his black shoes.

Omkara, on seeing how she broke down before him and her soul shattered like a bottle of glass, immediately kneeled down before her and held her face in his arms forcing her to look up to him "no Gauri please..koi kami nahi rhe gayi thi.." his own eyes were teary

"then why?"

"Bahar barish hota...Ander ye madam rota..dear Jesus! Oo madam, atleast tell me where do you want to go?" The middle aged man said as he looked at Gauri through the rear view mirror.

"I-I don't know...bhaiya,"Gauri whispered.

"Haye?? But madam if you have stepped into my taxi then there must be someplace where you wanna go..," the middle aged man asked desperately.

"T-take me home..I mean.." Gauri told him her address in a very meekly voice. Even the windshield was louder than her. But the driver didn't ask her to repeat.

"By the way madam, tum kyo rota? Vo man..jo gala phaar kar chillata..tum usko janta tha kya?" The middle aged man asked.

Gauri nodded as she wiped her tears again.

"is dont touch me Mr Oberoi's! Don't you ever dare touch me!" Gauri yelled as she jerked away Omkara's hands holding her face making his eyes widen with pain and shock.

"Gauri atleast let me explain-"

"what will you explain Mr Oberoi? What will you explain? That you were having affair with a girl before a week of our marriage? ...W-we were about to get married in a week Omkaraji..did you not think about me once? T-tell me..d-did you?

She clutched her phone tightly, continuously staring at its screen. It was almost pathetic that she still waited for him to call her..for once to tell her that he he was sorry..he didnt love that girl..he still loves her..his Gauri.

"Madam tum ko dekh kar mujhe bhi rona ata..tum uski wajhe se apane aap ko pain kyo deta...I am sure that man must have done something terrible to you," the middle aged man said thoughtfully.

Gauri snickered. done something terrible? He ripped of her soul piece by piece.

"Whatever he wanted to do..he have done," Gauri said, her characteristic determination coming back. She switched off her phone and buried it deep inside her bag.

"Yes madam! Tum ek dum sahi bolta! But still you must have given him a chance to explain..right?" The driver asked in a doubtful voice.

Explanation? Did she give him a chance to explain? No. But how could she deny what she saw with her own eyes?

"Gauri atleast let me explain.." Omkara tried to say between his own sobs.

"explain what Omkara ji? That why were you with her in that hotel? That why you two have booked a room? That why you lied to me about going there? That why you were kissing her-her swollen b-belly?..if you didn't think about me then at least you should have thought about t-that baby Omkaraji...what will he think when he will come to this world and watch his father married to some other women..that he is a child of a mistres-"

"GAURI!" Omkara raised his hand in mid air but stopped at realisation of what his anger almost drove him to do. Gauri's eyes widen as tears rolled down her eyes.

"mariye..mariye na..why did you stop? Isn't it funny that she changed you so much in just two months that now you are ready to raise hand at your Gauri?" Gauri let out a humourless laugh.

"no Gauri, I am sorry..now please listen to me.." Omkara begged again.

"No, I have listened and seen enough enough Omkara ji," Gauri said and gulped, preparing herself mentally for what was coming next.

"n-no, don't do it Gauri please..please," Omkara stuttered in a terrified voice.

"w-we are over,"

Gauri furiously removed her diamond engagement ring from her finger and grabbed his hand only to place it on it. Then she turned on her heels and strode out of his office

"Sometimes explanations are not necessary or needed," Gauri said.

"Oo madam! Ye kya bolta! You didn't give him a chance? You know, there is a very famous quote in my side- you can't judge the ocean by its surface..the same way madam, you can't always judge the matter by what you saw..after all our eyes show us what we want to see, not what we need to see," the middle aged man said.

Gauri looked at him with blank eyes, doubting her own decision now. She licked her dry lips and gulped again. she has done the right thing right? but then how can she deny what she just saw?

"You must love him very much," the driver asked.

"Yes..i do," Gauri replied looking out of the window.

"Then his destiny will definitely lead him to you madam! Vaise bhi nothing is random, everything is a part of the destiny's game," the driver smiled at Gauri through the mirror who just looked at in trying to understand what he was saying.

"By the way myself Michael Cupid Smith from Goa!-" he tapped on his starring wheel "-and this is my lovely car Destiny! And you know the best thing about it? It takes people to not where they want to go, but where they need to go. Isn't it funny," the driver started giggling at his own joke whilst Gauri looked at him in perplexity. All his
words were going over her head.

Gauri was sure either her driver was on weeds or totally crack.

But she didn't want to think about it. Her head was too cloudy with the dilemma of whether she had chocked her happiness by her own hands or what she had done was absolutely justified.

Then suddenly the taxi came to hiatus with a halt.

"Oo baba! Destiny tum kya karta baba! Beech road me nakhre dikhata? Now how will I drop madam at her home?" The driver talked to himself.

"What happened bhaiya?" Gauri asked nervously clutching her bag in her hand tightly.

"I am sorry Madam..but I think ye taxi age nahi ja paye ga.." the driver said apologetically as he turned his head back to look at Gauri.

"What!?! But now how will I go home? Bhaiya please check it it came be fixed," Gauri asked, her eyebrows furrowing in tension.

"Ok madam, me check karta but no promises ok," the driver got out of the car and walked to the front of it. The opened the hood of the car and started fiddling with it.

Gauri too came out of the car. They were in a the city, but the area was not known to her. She had never been there.

"Gauri?"

Gauri turned around only to find the last girl she wanted to see on the whole planet. It was the same girl Omkara ji was having affair with. Then her eyes dropped down to her swollen belly..the belly which carried her and Omkaraji's child and she suddenly felt like puking.

"Oh my god! What are you doing here?" She asked walking upto her. She was carrying plastic bags, probably came from shopping.

"Madam ji, in madam ko ghar Jana magta but mera destiny- oh I mean my car..kharab ho gya..by the way tum janta in madam ko?" The driver asked.

"Yes off course!" She said.

"Very good! Madam, iss car ko theek hone me minimum 2 ghanta magata..till then you can wait in your friend's house, I'll call you when it will be fixed," the driver said.

"Amazing! I live just a block away, you can wait at my home. It's not very big like you Oberoi mansion but Omkara says I am really good with home decoration..so it's not that bad either," the girl giggled at the last part. Gauri could feel tears brimming at the edge of her eyes. he has even come me to her house

But before she could say anything the girl grabbed her hand and started dragging her away. Gauri's mind had gone numb. She had no idea what was even happening anymore more. But there was just one question bugging her persistently, why was Omkaraji's mistress treating her so nicely? Even taking her to her home...wasn't she suppose to hate her?

"Why are you so quite? Because as far as I remember Omkara had told me that you love to talk, and when you start once no one can stop you. You are just like me!" The girl chirped.

is this why he loves you? Because you are just like me?

"Wait a minute! Oh shit! Now I know what's the matter," the girl patted her forehead.

"Omkara didn't tell you about me right? I am so gonna kill him the next time we meet," she said glaring at nothingness.

"That's my house by the way," she said pointing towards a nice looking small house. The girl unlocked the door and they both got inside.

"Now it's the introduction time..it's so weird that I know almost everything about you but you don't even know my name," the girl giggled.

Gauri was quietly and expressionless looking at her, millions of questions running into her mind.

"So I am Megha, your cousin sister in law," she announced happily.

cousin..

"Gauri you are very lucky that you have got Omkara. He loves you like crazy! Infact you are all that he talks about...otherwise some of us..don't even get fraction of happiness. Omkara is a really nice person...helped me when I had no hope. My husband left me when he got to know that I was pregnant with a girl..I was so broken...but then Omkara help me. He gave me job and even helped me settling in the new city...and you know the best thing? When I told him that he was going to be uncle, he started dancing like a monkey," Megha giggled at the last part, through there were also tears edging in her eyes.

Gauri's eyes widen at the dawn of truth. She was Omkaraji's cousin...and Gauri had accused her of something so disgusting. There was nothing she wanted more than to go back in time and redo everything. Stop herself from omitting such venomous words.

How could she doubt her Omkara ji? It was just same as doubting her Sankar ji...

She needed to talk to Omkara. To apologise him. To mend the broken relationship if that was possible.

It was then Megha's phone rang.

"Hello?"

"What? Oh no shit!" She immediately hung up and looked at Gauri with anticipation.

"Gauri..Omkara's office caught fire," Megha whispered.
Gauri's heart stopped and dropped to her stomach. She knew what was happening. Her Sankar ji was punishing her for doubting her Omkara ji..he was going to take him away because she left him...

"No, no, no, this can't be happening! No!" she screamed her feelings all over the place.

"Gauri.."

"It's all because of me! Because of my foolishness! My Omkara ji is paying because of my sins!" Gauri yelled, her eyes red and puffed and cheeks wet and she fell on the ground and started hitting her hands on the floor, breaking her bangles. The glass pieces pierced deep into her delicate wrists but this pain was nothing compared to what she felt in her heart.

"Gauri..stop crying please..right now it have not been confirmed who all were inside.." Megha tried to console Gauri as she her fed her.

Moments later there the door bell rang. Megha rushed to open the door whilst Gauri sat there on the folklore with expressionless face and bloody wrists.

"I lost her Megha..I lost her,"

It was his voice...

"Om! Oh my god you are ok!"

"I-I lost her.."

It was him! Definitely him! Gauri could identify his voice million of other. She immediately got up and ran to the door. He was there, standing in front of him, perfectly fine. No words could ever describe the amount of happiness she felt. She immediately ran into his arms and hugged in tightly.

"Gauri, what are you-"

"I am sorry, I am sorry Omkara ji. I am so sorry Omkara ji." She apologised as she buried her head into his chest.

"Is ok Gauri..I should have told you. And where did you go? I was looking for you like crazy! Even went to your home but you were not there either. And your phone was also unreachable. You know how scared I was? I though I had lost your forever Gauri...if I have have not found you I would have died-"

Gauri immediately pulled away and placed her hand on his lips, preventing further words from coming out.

"Don't ever say that," she said slightly glaring at him.

"I love you too much to lose you Omkara ji. And I am sorry that I doubted you," she apologised again.

"I love you too much to let this stupid misunderstanding stay between us for too long," he said with a smile as he pulled her back into a tight hug and rested his chin over her head.

He pulled away only to take Gauri hand in his. But he was shocked to see him red in blood.

"Oh my god Gauri, what is all this? How did you get hurt?" He asked frantically.

But she just smiled.

"It's nothing Omkara ji..just a little cut," she replied.

"A little cut? You are mad! What will ever happen to you without me?" He asked more to himself. He immediately told Megha to bring first aid kit and bandaged her wounds.

"That's why, don't ever leave me again," she said.

Omkara held her face by both his hands and smiled at her before kissing her forehead. The he pulled her into a tight hug and rested his chin over her head.

"By the way, how did you find Megha?" He asked.

"I didn't, fate bought me here," she replied thoughtfully.
