Epi Review : Obscurus

I am torn between enjoying Shivika scenes and not appreciating the way this track is being handled. Maybe it's down to my personal preference of emotions and angst over comic relief. I do enjoy comedy a lot and Shivika's comedy scenes are delightful to watch, but I don't enjoy it when I find it ill-placed and I am eager for some emotional outburst from Annika and Shivaay, not just for the sake of the plot but also because of how phenomenal both NM and SC can be in those scenes. This separation has to be breaking their hearts and I want to see how much it is hurting them. I am awaiting the moment when it will be too much for them to bear and they'll burst. The first scene showed us a glimpse of that but it just came and went.

My heart broke for Gauri today. She is a such a pure soul and her entire world revolves around Om. Just moments before she was so happy and hopeful but little did she know that a brutal shock awaited her. What Om did was immensely cruel. He must have been hurting a lot too but too seduce her like that only to tear her apart later was vindictive. Yes, it is all a big misunderstanding but despite everything she has done for him and his family and having been proven wrong about her in the past, he still chose to think the worst of her. Gauri did not even get the chance to come home so no one is yet aware she was back. The only two people who can help her are stuck in troubles of their own.

The way things turned out today reminds me of an Obscurus from the world of HP and Fantastic beasts where magic can take a dark and destructive form when suppressed. Om has been denying and suppressing his feelings for Gauri and not allowing it to flourish. Because he did not talk and sort things out, some of the misconceptions remained and his thoughts turned unhealthy and it ultimately manifested in a nasty form.

However awful Om's actions were, Kunal delivered a powerful performance and it's good to have Shrenu back on the show.

True all his feelings for everything happening around him festered inside him and today found an output in this form. He was hurting and it took the path of hurting the one closest to him who he knows is his. Dont we do that . Take out our anger on our near and dear ones even if someone else hurts us. All his bottled feelings came out today in this darkness. But good thing . Like lancing a festered wound all that has come out now and he can at last heal.

All the actors are brilliant. That's what keeps us coming back to IB.

Kunal and shrenu's turn to rock this week. And wow they did it and are doing it.

I have the same thoughts regarding the way the track is being handled with respect to Shivika. I really enjoy Annika's quirks and her comic timing is superb but I have to say that before the comedy I wanted to see some serious conversation between Shivika. They just got married n on wedding night husband left her and returned after 15 days with a new woman as wife and failed to recognize her. This is a serious issue and not something which needs to be dealt in a comic way. Shivaay definitely ownes an explanation to his wife regarding his decision and actions, they need to have a heart to heart conversation before moving towards comedy. Similar thing happened in post separation episodes, during the time when they should be discussing their relationship and time of separation makers introduced slapstick comedy. Don't get me wrong I really love to watch Annika and her antics on screen but to me it seemed little ill timed. Otherwise I enjoyed her AAA antics. SC is brilliant in any type of scenes and her comic timing is always on point.
