In a show where new tracks begin every other day and end abruptly within a few days, 15 days is a really long time and to have a 15 day jump would mean the world has turned upside down. IB as we knew it has changed, until the next time jump happens sometime in the future. Until then, we are expected to have lapses in our memories regarding tracks, consistencies and character progressions.
So what all can happen in 15 days? One can marry, disappear and reappear with a new wife after 15 days. Strangers can claim to meet, fall in love and marry - within 15 days. The DIL can leave the house one day and not come back for 15 days, and no one in the family bats an eyelid. One can break up with a guy, almost marry someone else, have the wedding interrupted by the former flame, remain friends with the ex-fiance, the ex-fiance can have a new fiance, all three can be friends and person in question can still wallow in grief for the old-flame - all within 15 days. If that's not enough, complete strangers can come and take over the family business in 15 days.
A small part of me still wants to continue watching and see how it all unfolds, that's why I am sticking around, but several things aren't right with this track. The beginning of any track is crucial as it helps build the level of interest one has for the track but inconsistencies and complete lack of logic diminish the anticipation and excitement and what's left is a bored and frustrated viewer.
1. Nothing in this life is consistently good or bad. The same applies in fiction world too. Was is really so difficult to give our beloved characters a few moments of peace before this raaz took over their lives? Annika and we were promised a wedding filled with happy rasams and they were left incomplete. Yes, incomplete because we were deprived of the post wedding rasams.
2. Shivika had promised each other they would fight all their battles together from now on. The first battle post marriage and Shivaay is already fighting on his own? Was it really necessary to show Shivaay failing at his promise at the first opportunity?
3. The fact that Shivaay is claiming to be married to this woman means nothing. He is still legally married to Annika, so his second marriage ( under whatever conditions ) doesn't count. Why does Annika have to go around trying to convince Shivaay or the family needs to allow the new girl to stay in their house when this marriage isn't valid? They can all simply put their foot down. This isn't the same situation as Tia where Shivaay was refusing to accept Annika, or the Peter swami track ( which was lame nonetheless) where Tej was pretending to be someone else. Shivaay might be under some compulsion, the family isn't and they don't have to play along considering they don't even know what they are playing against yet.
4. Rebooting once, twice, thrice is fun, but rebooting every situation, every scene is lack of creativity. It ruins to novelty of the original scenes.
5. Dumbing down Annika in the guise of making her look smart. I am afraid to say that is how I feel because if Annika is really convinced Shivaay is faking a memory loss and has a big reason behind it, what is point of her telling Shivaay to stop all this, put up pictures on the wall and resort to slapstick comedy?
6. Is the media having a partial memory loss too? Shivaay is back with a new wife and announces it too the world, but the re-marriage he had with his already wedded wife just two weeks prior is forgotten. No one asks him any questions about this supposed polygamy ( because you can't be divorced in just two weeks), especially when the real wife is standing just two feet behind.
7. I was debating whether I should even say this because this show has already made a mockery of the medical science in the past among other things. Selective amnesia is possible but one can't simply forget the existence of just one person and recall everything else that happened in the past year. What excuse does Shivaay have for remembering Pinky's OMM?
8. Om followed Arjun, jumped to conclusions, came home and burned the pictures. Not once did he even try to confront Gauri. I am aware Shrenu couldn't shoot. But what did Om tell them that they aren't even concerned about her whereabouts? Can we hope to get a plausible explanation for this?
9. Rudy's unhealthy obsession with Bhavya. Yes, it's unhealthy because he maligned the girl he is attracted to and she may or may not be married/dating another guy and she ended her ties with him. Logically, he should reflect on his actions and not send his friend to spy on the girl. Lee is on vacation, I understand but don't butcher a beloved character like this.
10. Are we supposed to forget every progress every single character has made in the show? Tej-Pinky face off happened just like the old days which is fine. But Tej isn't the guy he was once was and neither is Shakti. So why did Shakti stand quietly and not side with his brother, when he knows Tej is right? Why has he lost his voice again? Why can't there be some newness in the scenes?
11. If this track is IT for the show, the thing that can actually make it or break it, why is it not being promoted? It's a different matter altogether that the glaring inconsistencies in the track is enough to put of even regular viewers, let alone increase the numbers.
12. Abhay came from nowhere. Now he is suddenly solving every problems, Wedding preps cannot be done without him. Business deals cannot be made without him. The family's stand towards the new (fake) wife needs to be made clear by him. He has more connections in the art world then the artist Omkara himself. How did the Oberois survive until now?
13. We were promised something about a 'difference', perhaps in terms of editing. I am afraid I can't see any yet. The editing is still bad, the direction looks sloppy and certain camera angles looks odd. Bottomline is, the execution continues to be bad. I watched the last three episodes on TV. Is it me or the glitches appear even worse on TV?
14. The fact that Shrenu's photoshoot pics and EBP pics were used during the photo burning scenes just shows a lack of care from the team. Someone just googled Shrenu Parikh, downloaded the pictures and took prints. Was it really so difficult to use shots from the show?
15. The complete mockery marriage and relationships in the show and utter disregard towards fan sentiments. Can't the fandoms of Shivika, Rikara and Ruvya have some peace and expect some semblance of logic?
The online fandom, especially IF fandom is termed as negative and any constructive criticism from us is brushed off as garbage. But there has hardly been any tracks disliked by the online fandom that was well received by the TRP audience. So far this supposed BIG track is a disappointment.
