Have you ever wondered what would happen if the serpents of doubt forget to slither into your mind ? If the mismatched threads of affection vouch to never tangle and stay with peace. Hope may glimmer , but ultimately it's all mostly gloomy.
She'd been gloomy, very melancholic since the day he pushed her out of their house. A house that meant humble adobe, heaven, where she had gotten a family for which she craved since long. Mrs. Anika Shivaay Singh Oberoi had given up her happiness , her love and whatever that was left of her for the man whose name was conjoined with her. She had loved Him, immensely, irrevocably and irreversibly and had allowed to let him slip from her hands knowingly.
Mrs Pinky Singh Oberoi had played with her, she had come to know after the deed had been done. Om and Rudra had handled their Chhoti Ma with grace and poise , revealing to her about the big fat lie of illegitimacy that Pinky had slapped on her face. Om, Rudra , Jahnvi Ma and Tej uncle had confronted her but the curtain of hatred had been so eminent in the eyes of her mother-in-law that she'd refused seeing Anika's face again in the mansion. She had cried bitterly thinking about the consequences of her trusting Pinky and leaving behind the only person who loved her just as she did. It's a wealth in itself, finding someone who loves you as dearly as you love him.
It's been two months since Anika had left the Oberoi Mansion , the night before her leaving etched in her heart . The way he'd treated her delicately as if touching a flower, his feather touches that made her turn into a puddle of mess, those rough kisses claiming her as his and finally marking her and becoming the only man to ever come this close to her. To touch her soul and define every inch of her skin, and the next day she'd done something irreparable resulting in hatred.
Shimla was a beautiful place, with no penny in her hand and mouths to feed she'd come here, landed up in a job of receptionist and started an all new life. Rudra had called her twice a day asking about her whereabouts and also trying to seek her permission to break the Kasam that she'd given, but Anika had refused, she knew Shivaay will break and hearing anymore filth from the mouth of Pinky Singh Oberoi was the last thing she would want. Two months and two days equivalent to an eternity .
It was a beautiful sunday evening with blowing winds , pretty settling sun and a huge jumbo cup of chai. Orange, blue and white hues had conflated like colours on a beautiful canvas . She heard the doorbell ring continuously and frowned in confusion. The dark had begun to descend down. She rushed to the door being careful on the stairs and opened the door to peep at the man she'd expected would never find her.
The world had stopped all together for moments they stood there lost in each other's orbs taking in each other's presence . His eyes diverted at her stomach then back up to her face. He stepped forward and placed the latch on. The tears had not stopped at all.
"Why?" He asked in the most pained expression she had ever seen. And now she knew that he knows , he knows everything and he's here to take her back to the place where she will never set foot again.
"Why are..y-you h-here." The crying had made her gasp for some oxygen and he had grasped her elbow and made her sit on the wooden chair nearby. She was now crying bitterly.
"How are you ?" He caressed her hair affectionately and smiled through his tears.
"Just existing.." She replied half dazed.
"I know everything !" He said in a high pitched voice startling her all of a sudden. She looked up to see his nostrils flair with anger.
"I tried keeping you away from it, that way or this way." She took his hand in hers and relished the feeling of finding his engagement ring still there.
"You shouldn't have. I despise you for doing that, you took away my heartbeat the day you shattered our dreams of a happily ever after." He looked displeased but above all hurt.
"I had no choice, I believed Pin- your mother . " She couldn't bring herself to utter her name.
"She's not my mother anymore , Anika. She lost the position the day she called me illegitimate." He looked genuinely disgusted.
"She'll still be your mother." Anika looked down at her lap where her hands rested.
"I am here to take you back. With me. Forever." He held her hands while she shook her head furiously.
"I can't. Shivaay. Please, I can't." She begged profusely while he angered more.
"Why Damn it ?! You're my wife. You will stay with me. Whether that woman likes you or dislikes you. You are my responsibility , my life, my love. I need you Anika , why can't you just listen to me for once ?" She wiped her tears and met his gaze.
"I love you irrevocably but I can't come back. Not now, not ever. I don't think I can handle anymore , she'll never like me Shivaay lets face it. I can't go through everything again, I'll die." She replied .
"Anika I'll die without you ! You don't understand I hate her. She ruined us, our future ."
"But you're her son and you'll remain one. She loves you Shivaay but I can't risk gambling with my life again." She stated .
"Then will you keep me away from my god damn child too?!!" He had lost his temper now. Her hand automatically flew up to her mouth covering it.
"Hu-hh you h-ow I ..You k-kn-know ?" She stammered.
"What do you freaking think ? I have been searching for you since one week. If it wasn't for yours and Rudra's phone calls I wouldn't have known, ever. You left with my part Anika, you and this kid are both mine. Mine." He walked to her and placed a firm palm on her stomach .
"I didn't know when I left, it just came to me a month back. I would have never kept you away from our child, I never would have left. I can't let my child grow without a parent but I also couldn't handle the hatred he or she will receive by your mother. I can handle everything she says to me but I'll never let her set eyes on my child." She hugged herself and looked up at him who was in a daze.
"She'll never come near my child, I've made a vow to myself Anika. Just come back to Delhi, to our house. I can't stay away from you two. Please." He pleaded again while she closed her eyes.
"That's just a house Shivaay , just a house. Oberoi Mansion will always be the place where I'll never be accepted as your wife by the woman who bought you into this world . Face it Shivaay , she'll ruin everything again, we'll crumble apart and this time it wouldn't just be us. I don't want to keep you away I just can't come back to that mansion." She was firm. It had taken days to come to this decision but she knew she was right.
"Then don't." He replied calmly while she frowned in confusion.
"Come back to Delhi but not to the Oberoi Mansion."
"What are you implying ?" She asked .
"Let's buy another house and make it a home, Anika." As the words left his mouth a wave of dizziness rushed to her brain and passed almost as quickly as it had come.
"You're willing to leave your home ? Why ? You built that mansion Shivaay. You can't leave, the words that your mother had always said about me trying to separate you from her will turn true . Don't Shivaay, I'm fine here." She had never expected him to leave Oberoi Mansion, leaving the Mansion meant leaving his family .
"You're my family too Anika. You're coming with me , willingly or unwillingly." He had gestured his signature flick.
"But you can't possibly leave everyone . Om and Rudra won't give their consent, dadi will become alone and your mom will slit my throat if she ever gets a freaking chance !" She spat exasperated and sat back on the chair.
"She's never coming near you Anika. I swear on my life.OmRu will be delighted that we took this decision and dadi can come and stay with us whenever she wants to. Just say yes Anika, I'll make sure everything happens the way you want. Our child would want for nothing , I'll spoil him bad Anika . Just come back to me love. "
He had come down to her on his knees and held her palms firmly in his while she looked down with wet eyes . She'd never expected this Shivaay Singh Oberoi on his knees for a middle class girl like her .
"You promise no one will hate me ?" She had asked as a child .
"None." He smiled he knew she was ready and now he'll never let her out of his sight ever.
"Okay." She had smiled through her tears and the next minute his lips have found hers in an excruciating kiss.
All was well. Anika and Shivaay had made a home for themselves far, far away from Oberoi Mansion and Pinky Singh Oberoi. She'd thrown a fit , yelled at Shivaay and had cursed Anika on uncountable occasions. But she was never forgiven, by anyone. Om and Gauri had stayed back in Oberoi Mansion for keeping the house intact. Rudra and Bhavya had chosen to devote most of their months for Anika and Shivaay's child. And Jahnvi now stayed with Anika 24/7 taking care of her just like a mother-in-law should.
Shivaay had been right when he said the child would want for nothing. He had bought everything that she imagined would make the junior SSO euphoric. She also would want for nothing now.
