I know where the seven year leap idea came from: Gangaa.
In that show, FL got pregnant but her husband refused to believe the child was his and went abroad. After seven years, he returned and realised that his wife's daughter was his.
Don't worry. It won't happen here.

if there is leap in ib, they can do the following for dbo.
they can show om and gauri living happily after 7 year with their kids and then take a 7 year leap back. i mean flash back.

just one possible solution.
